Performance Mods!: |
K&N air filter, Banke shifter kit, tach kit, billet trap door, Baker shift drum, Yost kit in stock CV carb.
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
Have replaced both rocker box gaskets with metal ones. No problems since. Did it myself, not too difficult. Cam position sensor went bad.
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: |
New paint. Rear shock started leaking and was replaced as dealership with '02 type. Also has '02 shift linkage and tach kits.
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): |
When I lived back East I would head for Deal's Gap and the Cherohala (sp?) Skyway. Worth the trip. Now I hit Palomar Mt. Road when I can.
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
I wound up with my Cyclone through an odd confluence of circumstances. But I have no regrets. I have ridden several racer replicas recently, and though I will give them credit where due I prefer the power delivery and handling of my Buell. One of the riders I traded off with at Deal's Gap said he could not believe how nimble the Buell was compared to his FZ-1. So much so that it scared him at first. I rode my Cyclone from Havelock NC to Kansas City in two days once (1300 miles, 800 on the second day) and did just fine.
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Kind of a moot question at this point. I hope one of the new bikes coming out of Erick Buell Racing is going to be a sport touring type.
Life History/Philosophy: |
Mostly military. I have a degree in Philosophy (BA) so it suprises people when I tell them I have no personal philosophy for life. I do think it is important to figure out what you want out of life and then take steps, however small, in that direction every day.
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): |
120 on a deserted, straight, clear road. Full tuck, that was as fast as the M2 would go.
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): |
I have been using Syn-3 but I have also used Ams-Oil. No real pref.
