There were mixed reviews on the styling at the Homecoming unveiling. The radiator cowling looks a bit too large and round to me. Otherwise, I think it's a step in the right direction and will give Buell racing a platform to work with.

There really is no denying that it looks Japanese. It looked better in the low-quality video IMO. On Buell's site it looks even more like the love child of ET and an R1. Maybe I'm alone, but it looks like they are playing the me too game with some little twists with this bike. I think they kind of had to to make the bike more competitive performance wise and to try to increase sales. I personally don't like the looks at all, but I'd love to ride one. And we can now only hope Buell will be in more racing series so we have a Buell to route for! : D

NOW I AM NOT BASHING IT. Buellshyter asked for opinions and I'm giving mine. Hate the looks, but love its potential.

I'd give it a year and see what happens, maybe they'll work with some of the feedback they've been getting. God knows they finally fixed the headlights.
But I'm with Tim, she has potential.

To me Its just plain UGLY...

And having that force pressurized air intake system looks like that has to be a Keeper....

Jap as ya can get with that front fairing...
Well Just hope it holds its own on the track...
Also that it won`t be a let down for him like the XBRR has...

The radiator shrouds might look much better in person. Some things don't photograph well. I'm looking forward to seeing one.
Knowing that it has a drive belt makes it easier for me to wait for a late 2008 or 2009 to see how it runs with some miles on it. I don't want to deal with those hassles again.

Even if it is not as beautiful as a 1098, I'd love to have it if it performs as promised. The broad power spread will be fantastic. I can't wait to read reviews of the performance.

This is a new day for Buell and Harley. No more excuses, this one will kick butt.

I like it... If I had to pick a less than beautiful section it would be the radiator shrouds but if you watch all videos on the website they seem to be very functional. I like the fairing due to the fact that I ride in the rain and occasionally the snow so my hands should be warmer. It has a built in plug for hand warmers too : ).

I LOVE the dash : ).

I can't wait to take the license plate bracket off of it : ).

I'd like to see it with a sport touring wind shield.

I like the diamond blue color but I think it'll look funky with gold rims (and I've always liked the gold rims). The blue ones aren't bad though.

I liked the fact that the pegs used to hang off of the frame, but I'll bet the new location gives better feedback though your feet.

I like how they mounted the rear caliper behind the swingarm.

I like the exhaust, but I'll bet it'll be ugly when dirty. Looks easy to clean though.

Anyone notice that there isn't a cross member on the top of the frame? I'll bet we can do valve adjustments without rotating the engine : ).

All in all I call it a winner and I bet they sell another 100,000 bikes : ).

A few Bueller's and drifters from the races at the unveiling were making the same comments. The front fairing reminds me of an RR - wide and flat on the bottom. Technically, I think it's a home run and should do well on the track. Btw, the radiator cowls serve two purposes. If you look inside the cowl you'll see that part of the air is directed to the radiator and part is directed out towards the rider's legs in an effort to reduce heat on the rider. There are some borrowed parts from the XB line - rims, airbox cover and rear seat/cowl and others I'm sure. The rims and frame were painted in a slate blue metallic color or purple ?? depending on the light.

I need to see it in person, but it looks very Japanese in the fairing, and somewhat derivative. Just not as clean as what I am used to from Buell. Not sure I like the blue frame and wheel color, would have prefered graphite. Actually they should have offered a second color, maybe red, or blue (seems everything else gets blue this year!).

The radiator inlet doesn't bother me, it is just that the fairing and lights don't look right, just not Buell, everything from the gas cap back is okay, though.

I think next year will be a very exciting time for Buell updates also.

Still a very cool bike.

Looks fat like an XBRR, but I can see why they made it that way. If you watch the video about the aerodynamics on Buell.com, you can see that they were looking at wind response first, aesthetics second. Radiator cowlings are a little ugly too, but can't do much about those. I don't think they wanted to look Japanese, I just think they didn't care too much about what it looked like as long as it was functional.

Form follows Function.

this is an engineer's bike. and i'll take function anyday.

all this about it looking Japanese i'm not sure about.

the frame and tail section are all Buell. and i mean ALL of it.

the inconsistency of colors? also all Buell (why not just be all black on the frame?? it's such a pain to match the frame to the rest of the bike!)

headlights... ok. it's way more Ducati than Yamaha. looks just like the old 748 (which i love)

love the hidden rear brake. hate to think i'd have to work on it. does it have to come off to change the tire?

and why no rear views on the 1125R website?

and all us XB riders need to remember that the '03's looked nothin like the 02's.

Well I'm a bit sad because I really wanted to like the look but I can't, like it's been said before it look a lot like the RR front end and I never liked the RR because of it's front. I do like the performance it promises but until they rework the look it won't be for me I would get the 12r for the look. Now on the other end how long will it be before we see that motor in the S models?

I am not at issue with the shape of the fairing or the aerodynamics, I just don't like the headlights, to me that is what looks Japanese, obviously, everything rearward is ALL Buell. But it is amazing how much influence one section of the bike can have on the overall look.

Can't say I'm 100% behind the front view, but I love the side view - it's obviously an evolution of the XBR from that viewpoint. I also like the fact that it doesn't have a full fairing (and the insurance premiums that go along with that.)

Bottom line, I think the tradeoffs are evident, and ones that I might have made myself.

like some one else mentioned. this bike appears to be function before form.
it would defenetly look better with a air cooled engine but would not perform as well.
I'm going to refer to the radiator ducts as.. radiator Pods.

Well I don't care about the rads (well they are not that pretty but well it's liquid cool now) but the side view of the fairing is what I can't stand it really look like a xbrr with light and I have never liked the rr so I'm not going to start now just because the bike got gobs of power.

I think the front end resembles a hammerhead shark so I'm going to call the 1125R "The Hammerhead" and a fellow Bueller referred to the exhaust can as the "dog bone" due to it's shape... Honestly, I don't care what it looks like as long as I can go to the races and watch it compete.

Have you seen the rear turn signals?

Are those a $9.99 afterthought from the J.C. Whitney catalog or what?

Hope those get better before release date...

Seeing the bike at different angles changes my opinion. The Bike looks pretty good from the front.I think they should have made the radiator pods and upper fairing one peice, would of cleaned the side view up.Wonder why they didn't go with a full fairing.

"Hammerhead." I like that!
I like the styling. It's no Ducati, for sure. It reminds me of an R1 from the front, which is a damn beautiful bike. The radiator "pods" do look out of place, perhaps they could have integrated them better into the front fairing, making it a more complete half fairing, much like a - well, a VR1000. But if the form of the bike is made from the best wind tunnel results, then that's the way it should be.
Looks aren't going to win you any races.

+1

From looking at pics of different angles, especially the front. I don't think the "pods" stick out as much as we think they do.

The more I stare at the pics the more I like it. I can't wait to see it in person.

It's obvious that a lot of thought & consideration went into the design.

As far as I can tell, our demands have been met. This is as true a sportbike as I've ever seen.

Buell is finally standing on it's own. It's a Buell chassis and now a Buell engine. Rotax was a very key player but this new engine has Erik written all over it : )

SOMEONE in that room the VERY FIRST TIME it was ever unveiled HAD to think,
Who the hell is going to buy that with them ugly ass pieces of plastic jutting out all over the place like that.
They should have spoke up.
But we DID finally get the motor ALOT of people have wanted.
and at least its not JUST new plastic this year.

I am not a big fan of the styling. First thing I said was it looks like a last generation yamaha.

But the performance makes up for most of it

I am more curious what the next S model looks like.

I do dig the gauges though.
