Just posted on Cory West's Facebook page

"Just finished cutting some laps on the @ErikBuellRacing #1190RX streetbike at Autobahn CC... I think people are going to be very impressed!"

I recognize the roads as I have ridden them many times chasing Cory and his Dad. It would be great to have an opportunity to ride the new 1190RX there some time. NW Arkansas is Sportbike heaven.

If you haven't been there you need to go sometime.

So, I've seen this vid 3 times now and it's still hard to tell but it seems like the riding position on it is not all leaned foreword and committed like most sportbikes. It looks like a person could sit more straight up on it for street riding. Does anyone else see that or am I way off base on that?

Bars are lower, but further back. Keeps us short people from being stretched across the airbox as far.

Not an upright riding position motorbike by any stretch of the imagination. Pure sport bike.

the bike better be in artic white.
its the prettiest color for buells.
like ducati with red
black is nice but is harder to see the fine detail of the bike.
and they should not go with red, i dont like buells being called ducatis, as some people have thought when talking about my buell.
its better then a ducati : )

Unfortunately, no. A week-and-a-half ago, EBR suggested they might post a couple more teaser shots soon, but nothing so far. I posted to remind them yesterday.

maybe they'll start combining the fuel tank and the frame and using the engine as a stressed member, like ducati has been doing as well.

Okay
So they have a new bike now available for under $20,000 yet I still do not see a listing for dealers that can actually sell and service one? That seems to me like the horse before the cart does it not?

Or am I just not seeing the dealers on the EBR website?

They haven't published a list of dealers yet. If you go to www.ebrdealer.info you can find the cities where dealers will be located, but they haven't posted more than that yet.

I expect they're working hard this week at the AIMExpo to sign up more dealers and a full list of dealers will be posted before much longer.

Buelliedon, I think they are probably waiting to release one to see how many more they sign up at the AIME expo. That's my guess anyway.

Heres one I found but I wouldn't count on it being complete.

yes that was me being facetious.

Man the way they pulled the fans out so they're more visible just looks cool if nothing else. Of course it makes sense, pull hot air through the radiator and AWAY from the engine, instead of blowing it right on the motor. Good grief why has no one thought of that before?

God bless America. and her pioneers.

As a former motorcycle dealer I am impressed with their program. If I wasn't so old I might be tempted to go back in the business. I really believe they will be going places, of course not a real threat to the Japanise big four, but will have an impact on the high end sportbike market.

I don't know if it is common knowledge, but the motors will now be made in America under license from Rotex, so it will truly be an American made sportbike which will be in keeping with Erik's dream and a real plus in marketing.

Riohondohank, would it be ok for you to indicate how the incentives for an EBR dealer, especially a start up, would differ from a regular dealer? How would the floor plan or compensation differ in a way to entice the sales of EBR's? What would make it worth the challenge for the new guy on the motorcycle sales block? Is it only for established MC shops that have superb cash flow and can spare the dime for a different line? You have been in the business and might shed some light on the new guy's plight.

Their requirements are not as stringent as some other manufactures which will allow dealers to get going without a huge investment in product, parts and floor space. Also the 180 day free floor plan is better than when I was a dealer.

http://www.ebrdealer.info/program.html

Probably be best in an existing dealership, but not a Japanese 4, I have seen European brands get lost in the noise under those conditions. Perhaps EBR handled in a BMW, or other Euro brand. It would take a long time for create enough cash flow to support a stand alone EBR dealership.

On further thought, perhaps an EBR and Hero bike and and scooter combo dealership could generate enough cash flow to work stand alone. Winters are hard on the street bike business, so a line of 4 wheelers or snowmobiles depending on where you are would be good also.

Winters in south eastern NC are about 20 to 30 'too cold to ride days, at sub-56 degrees F as the high temp' per year. MotoMark1.com teaches virtually all year around in southern NC. Perfect place for a dealership and a cabin.
