New Release from Buell Motorcycle Company:

BUELL CONTINUES TO PUSH SPORTBIKE RIDING LIMITS
Trilogy of Technology Delivers Powerfully for Street, Sport and Adventure Riders

EAST TROY, Wis. (July 25, 2009) - The BuellŪ riding experience embodies radical designs and intuitive performance that rewards uncompromising riders. From the race track to the back road, a Buell motorcycle will take any path necessary to put its rider out front because Buell believes a deep bond between rider and machine is the essence of motorcycling.

Buell takes on the world with a versatile line-up of 2010 motorcycles designed to inspire riders to achieve their ultimate performance. Nodding to Buell's increasing victories and success on the race track, the 1125RŪ model is engineered as a superb sportbike for the race track or twisty road, while the FireboltŪ XB12R motorcycle combines sport performance and pure V-Twin muscle at an excellent value. The 1125CR and three XB LightningŪ motorcycles are designed with plenty of street attitude, and performance to back it up. The UlyssesŪ XB12 motorcycles are ready to take the rider on adventures that go way beyond the road.

"The story of Buell motorcycles shows that great things can happen with creativity, vision and hard work," said Erik Buell, Chief Technical Officer, Buell Motorcycle Company. "A dream that started with a few of us getting our hands dirty in garages and on racetracks in the 1980s is now providing riders with quality American-engineered motorcycles and winning at the top levels of AMA Pro Racing."

Buell continues to focus on the ride for 2010 with enhancements to braking with upgrades to the front master cylinder, improved drivability from a new oxygen sensor, and increased rider comfort. Cosmetic upgrades include new rear turn signals, LED taillights, thin-film graphics, and bodywork colors. Whether it's the 1125 cc Helicon liquid-cooled V-Twin engine or the air-cooled 1203 cc ThunderstormŪ V-Twin, Buell blends seamless power delivery with intuitive handling to deliver a fun and confidence-inspiring ride.

Embodying the American spirit of innovation, Buell is always willing to challenge convention with leading edge designs like fuel in the frame, underslung muffler or a perimeter-mounted front brake to give its riders what they want in a performance sport bike. The Buell Trilogy of Technology principles of low unsprung weight, mass centralization and chassis rigidity have long guided the Buell ruthless approach to motorcycle engineering.

Buell has thrived on ambitious thinking to ensure high quality motorcycle design and engineering combined with distinctive styling. Always competing against the odds, Buell has created a different kind of American sport motorcycle that is right for enthusiastic and competitive riders whether taking a knee in a tight corner on the track, taking on the city streets or tackling tough off pavement terrain.

Buell Highlights for 2010 (see separate Facts & Feature sheets for more on each model)
Street Cred

As a modern cafe racer, the Buell 1125CR model combines the 146-hp, liquid-cooled Helicon 1125 cc V-Twin engine with the Buell Intuitive Response Chassis (IRC) to create a bad attitude bike backed up with exceptional performance. A new upright tapered aluminum handlebar adds comfort while transforming the ride from sport to pure streetfighter. Final-drive gearing optimizes acceleration for the street, and an upgraded front master cylinder improves brake feel. New graphics, bodywork colors, blacked-out components, LED taillight, rear turn signals, and a flycut ZTL2 logo on the brake caliper deliver style. A new engine cover sightglass for oil checks and a battery tender plug pre-wired into the wiring harness add convenience. The 1125CR model is now available in a new Artic White/Midnight Black color combination, as well as Midnight Black and Racing Red.

Buell XB Lightning motorcycles, powered by a muscular air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm V-Twin engine, are pure American street brawlers. New styling features include airbox cover graphics, LED taillight, and clear-lens front and rear turn signals. Lightning XB models receive an additional oxygen sensor with updated calibration for improved drivability and fuel pump that allows the cooling fan to run less, and enhancements to the front master cylinder for improved feel on the ZTL2 brakes. The XB12Ss has supermoto-inspired long-travel suspension and a roomy cockpit, and the Lightning XB12Scg features road-hugging suspension for low center of gravity. The Lightning CityX XB9SX is powered by the smooth-revving 984cc Thunderstom V-Twin engine, and features wind deflectors, frame pucks, headlight grille, airbox cover X-guard and Designer Black wheels to deliver big attitude at an incredible value.
Knee down on the Track

Whether on the street or the track, Buell sportbikes are engineered for high levels of performance and handling. The Buell 1125R motorcycle has proven it is a force to be reckoned with in the AMA Pro Racing Daytona Sportbike series, earning multiple wins and podiums this season. The 1125R is powered by a 146 Hp, liquid-cooled 1125cc V-Twin engine which delivers a broad powerband for excellent acceleration and tractability. New styling features for 2010 include new graphics, Designer Black wheels, polished stainless steel headers, flycut ZTL2 logo on the front brake caliper, LED taillight, and turn signals. A new side fairing kit is available as an accessory for the 1125R for riders who desire the full-faired race replica look.

The Firebolt XB12R combines incredible performance-per-dollar value, stand-out sport styling, and the American muscle of the Buell 1203cc Thunderstom engine in a light nimble package. An additional oxygen sensor with updated calibration for improved drivability and fuel pump that allows the X B12R cooling fan to run less, and enhancements to the front master cylinder improve feel on the ZTL2 brakes. New styling features include an LED taillight, turn signals and fly cut ZTL2 logo on the front brake caliper. It comes in new Sunfire Yellow bodywork with Designer Black wheels, and Midnight Black bodywork with Hero Blue wheels. Braking feel is enhanced on both the 1125R and XB12R models with an upgraded front brake master cylinder.
Adventurous Spirits

The sport-touring Buell Ulysses XB12XT and the versatile, all-road Ulysses XB12X models are equally exhilarating rides in the 2010 Buell Adventure Sportbike category. Both Ulysses models feature a new right-side air scoop, fan shroud, header shield, and ECM calibration that work together to improve rider comfort. Ulysses models receive an additional oxygen sensor with updated calibration for improved drivability and fuel pump that allows the cooling fan to run less.

Light and agile on any kind of road, the Ulysses XB12X is equipped with a broad, usable Thunderstorm 1203 cc V-Twin engine, rugged protective features like frame pucks, headlight grille and wind deflectors. The XB12X has a new blacked out look with Phantom Metallic frame, swingarm, flyscreen, footrest supports, and triple clamps, as well as new Sunfire Yellow bodywork and smoked windscreen. The Ulysses XB12XT is ready to carve the continents on new PirelliŪ Angel ST tires with side and top cases, heated grips and a tall windscreen. Both Ulysses models feature the patented Triple Tail system that adjusts between three functional positions. The Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP is a "special duty" motorcycle intended for government agencies and private security firms and one has been specially outfitted as the pace vehicle for AMA Pro Road Racing events.

Blake - Where did you get the press release? Did you copy from the H-D site or does it get sent to you?
Interesting how there's that extra paragraph about the Blast which isn't on the news release on buell.com
