Since they had to know there would be debate over the XBRR's legality, why didn't they just release a turn-key race package. They said that everything would bolt on a stock XB so why not go that route?

I've just called 9 Honda dealers.

"Hi, I saw the impressive race at Daytona last weekend and by gosh you sold me. I'd like to order a set of those forks please"

So far, the most intelligible answer is "huh?"

Try it yourself and see how it goes.

How cool is that Yamaha site?

How to order
YEC racing parts are sold through the official Yamaha distributor network. For further information on specifications and availability please contact your local Yamaha dealer or national distributor.

And so easy to boot!

Great idea.

Dago, ask them to sell you an engine like the one DeSalvo had. Tell them cost is no object (it better not be those babies will set you back 100 G's) and you will even put it together yourself. I know what they will tell you. They will tell the oppisite of what the Buell guys will tell you. Teh Buell guys will only want to make sure you are goin' racin' before they say yes. Delivery might be a little slow this spring but I expect pretty much everything to be available by summer.

The Yamaha stuff and the Honda stuff will be available in about... oh yeah they don't sell the really good stuff.

Try giving Ohlins a call

They also do stuff for the XB....

You guys are funny. TBS posted a simple question representing his desire for easy availability to race parts from Buell. Blake responded in a typical fashion when he deems something as negativity towards Buell. I posted a URL where you can source that type of thing from a company he referenced. Court sarcastically puts it down by saying you can't actually order from it. Now Dave starts in with the "try and get a DiSalvo" bs.

Well you can't order those parts from Buell's site either, nor could I order them over the phone without some effort. Is it more or less effort than one would have to go through with Yahamahonda? I haven't a clue. Nor do I care. I’m nowhere near fast enough to consider that expense. It was just a link to a resource one person said didn't exist.

Court, your comment about calling a Honda dealer means nothing to me after I called dealership after dealership ~2 years ago in an attempt to find “performance” parts for my street going XB. You shouldn’t use an argument as a counter point when your mothering company can’t historically substantiate it. Frankly it waters anything you say here down quite a bit. I’m beginning to think you’re Buell’s CMO.

Go Buell!!!!

Better luck next time! (I really do mean that)

>>>>I’m beginning to think you’re Buell’s CMO.

It'd be a poor conclusion. What Buell part can't you get in 24 hours?

>>>nor could I order them over the phone without some effort.

Right you are. Buell parts delivery sucked. Buell listened. Dave Gess wrote the first 3 page "overview" of what a proper parts system ought to look like. buell acted. Call Dave Stueve and see what part you can't get in 24 hours?

Old timers will recall that when Buell parts delivery sucked yours truly was on the internet screaming "Buell parts delivery sucks". Some old timers recall the article in Battle 2Win in which I blasted Buell dealers. When the Buell folks called me an "Anecdotal alarmist", I (for a period of 5 consecutive years) secretly selected 10 folks around the world. I had them all order the same parts (a left front turn signal and a clutch lever) at the same time on the same day. Then I kept track of when they received them. A good many of them never even got the parts.

Then I gave the information to Buell with a note basically saying believe all the fairy tales you will but here's the facts, right along with order numbers, dates and names.

Buell listened and now has one of the best parts availability in the industry.

It's facts kids.

"Call Dave Stueve and see what part you can't get in 24 hours?"

I'm very glad to hear that you've got it all worked out now. Dave S is a great guy; just as Dave G is, I'm sure. I've ordered thousands of dollars worth of parts through him. Although the service was always superb, never once did I receive even a frame slider within 24 hours. But I'll take your word for it that if I was a racer in need of a fresh XBRR engine case, Dave S would be the man who could get it to my garage within 24 hours with thanks in part to Dave G's advanced efforts.

It sounds doable.

Yeah Yamaha is sure wonderful
as long as you can schedule which parts you'll break 3-4 months in advance.
You can only make a parts order (or have it on hold until), 3 specific days

"2006 YEC racing parts ordering deadlines:

November 14 2005 - delivery for late January 2006
January 23 2006 - delivery for late April 2006
May 15 2006 - delivery in August 2006"

This is for "race kit parts" Unless of course you are on the factory team.

I'm glad Buell doesn't follow the Yamaha model for parts support.

I needed an engine mount bolt for my old Radian. Never did figure out why the stock one broke, but I suddenly sprouted an extra foot peg.

Went down to my local Yamaha dealer, and ordered a replacement. It was like $28, and took (no kidding) about 2 months to come in.

Meanwhile, I went to home depot, bought a stainless bolt, nut, and washer for $3, and put it in instead. It was far superior to the $28 Yamaha part that finally came in.

You can buy all the XBRR parts necessary to convert your XB12 or XB9. It's just cheaper to buy the converted bike from the factory, because then you don't have to get rid of a whole bunch of street parts at a loss. Honda and Yamaha know that, and know the bike is legal; they just want to try to make Buell look bad.

Oh, and those Ohlins forks diSalvo had? $30K.

Oh yeah but those are stock bikes not like the Buell. Ask all the "experts" on the net.

Keep on keeping on.
I'm perfectly happy talking to Henry for/about race only parts.
}
I wonder how many japan inc. racers know the factory Race Support coordinator on a first name basis?
Buell promotes a family atmosphere in everything they do.
Henry even helped me get autographs for my son since Kyle couldn't be at Daytona this year.

I kept my distance from the pits until I was invited in and given a tour when Henry spotted me there the first day I got there.
How cool is that?

i personally would like just one book right from buell that gives me a list of all the factory accessory parts that are available for any buell they still can get me parts for.

now i admit i may just be out of the loop and not getting my hands on something since i have only been at my job for a short while, but from what im getting told all i can do is try to collect the old books over the years and keep them.

i feel like im not explaining this very well. basically i get a new small book with a few new parts every year, and if that one book disappears i am out of luck because next year i will get a new small book with mostly just the new parts in it.

also i need a better way to get ahold of some smart buell people at buell when i have a question. called the customer service # for the first time awhile ago and needed to know something about a 99 cyclone. well first it says harley customer service... great... ok there is a buell department cool. select that department. person asks me what bike i am needing info on, i say 99 m2 cyclone. the response i get is "what is that" im serious.

honestly, i love my buells and the whole idea of them. i am just wanting to be able to help my customers more than just what my knowledge is capable of or having to say hey can you wait till tomorrow for an answer and going on here and finding out. if any of the people on here have a helping hand in that department i would be indebted to you.

sorry for ranting some, dont take this the wrong way please. just getting a little frustrated since if i dont know the answers to anything buell at work im mostly out of luck at the moment.

So when does the firebolt come with a longer frame? I don't need the power of an XBRR motor, I'd be happy with a punched nine but would really like to see that SS frame wrapped up in a firebolt package... I know I can do it myself but Buell might actually see me buy something off the showroom floor then...

Rice -- the folks what make decisions regarding parts books and the like do not reside in East Troy -- a little bit to the east of there, you'll find the responsibile parties

same same regarding all support issues (but you already know that ;-} )

Matt:

E-mail me your shipping address and contact info.

Have you completed the Buell race parts authorization? It's a .pdf on the Buell website.

It may be too early in the program, but what the heck, won't kill us to ask, eh?

I was lead to believe it would be june-july before the RR parts will start to become available.
They want to get the 50 bikes built before they start depleting the stock of parts.
But don't take my word for it. I'm not an industry insider. Seriously, no sarcasm.

There are 19 XBRR's that will soon be shipping to dealers with bona fide race teams.

The truage' system will meter them out as quickly as possible.

I'm certain thought has been given to ensuring a proper store of spares to support efforts.

So by my interpretation... a privateer with no dealership affiliation is by default precluded from purchasing any of this stuff? due to it's being invoiced to said non-existing dealership? Neither of my local dealerships (within 100 miles) has any type of road racing program or support naturally.

I will be at my local BRAG sponsoring Dealer tomorrow for a Q&A session...

will let you guys know how it goes. Not sure if they would agree to the blind invoicing deal.

Regardless of how "soon" parts are available, I would like to know if they will be available to ME!
