Cycle News reported that the Buells would be testing February 7-10 at Texas World Speedway in College Station, TX. Jeremy McWilliams site says "...I have been working with them testing a Buell in the States and that’s been going good – it’s got some speed. I’ll be testing with them again on February 6 in America to see if we can get the bike up to speed for the season ahead."

Blake, other Texas Buellers- any chance of some spy shots?

I wish I could break away from work to drive down there. It's killing me knowing that's going on so closely to me without being able to be there.

Highly doubtful anyone will be able to sneak into TWS. It is fenced and gated. It's about four hours from Kilgore. That's a long way and a lot of time invested to end up in a police station trying to explain yourself out of a criminal trespass or worse, a breaking and entering charge. :/

I cut my teeth on that track in my old 71 240z while going to that school nearby. Mucho fun.

Ohhh, a double-dog-dare. Now I'll certainly leave work.

Hold your breath, Blake, and let me know how that works out for you.

BTW, JimA4Media on another site is claiming "There is now one less XBRR to race, after one was wadded at 160mph."

Can't BadWeb issue a "press pass" to it's editor-in-chief?

Heck, even if you couldn't get in, a few minutes of audio recorded outside the speedway during the runs would be pretty cool.

Seriously, I hope the rider is OK if Jim's rumor is true.

Since the test actually isn't starting until tomorrow, you just have final proof of how full of s*** jima4media is. That is if you hadn't already figured it out from his other postings...

Of course I could be lying and the test actually started today, but since the truck with the test bikes in it left Buell at 11:00 PM last night, it ain't likely. Of course, they could have wadded the truck and trailer on the way there, but the 160 is a little unlikely for a Ford Superduty diesel...

Is anyone from the press invited?

Ford owners sure got screwed when the GT came out. Sure they said parts would be available, but can you get that motor in a SuperDuty? No.

What jerks.

Geez, you guys are awful mean and the anon post was uncalled for--again.Because you don't agree with someones opinions here is no reason to take cheap shots or be abusive.I know Jim personally and he is a nice likeable guy.I don't always agree with him but then I don't always agree with lots of people here. As my mother once told me"If you have nothing nice to say about someone, say nothing."
You all need to heed this.
And Anon--whoever you are,an apology is in order.
You could easily have said,Gee Jim that's just completely wrong.Instead you resort to schoolyard behavior.I am frankly disappointed.

Anony,

I like your edge most times, but here (and one time earlier) you should have hung back and let the play develope.

Jim4Media is only repeating what we were told last night at ASBN. If it was true, we (and he) would be proud of our Erik. If it isn't true, the Fireman has the right protocol.

We Buellers who know Jim4Media know him as a debater and sometimes antagonist with a wink. He is a a true blue Buell volunteer at ASBN every meeting.

Please don't be the crass end of the debate anymore in these threads. We love Buell and the participation of Buell in the form of Anony, but lately, the comments haven't been very well thought out. Simmer down and then dismantle the arguement.

It's cool. We all need to be allowed to speak our minds freely. If we find later that we need to back up some, that's OK too.

Thanks for the clarification, Diablo.

Hey guys, Fireman Jim and Jon heard the same story that I did, and it came from a Very reliable sources. I confirmed it today with other sources.

Did I say it happened in Texas?

The truth will come out soon enough.

I'm really getting tired of this anonymous B.S. from people who don't know what they are talking about.

Whew.....easy guys. . . there is so much good going on right now. Good time to implore the "count to 10" and be aware if different perspectives. There are a group of people, fatigue figures in after a host of 24 hour (literally round the clock) days and so much at stake....AND so many detractors.

My suggestion: Temporarily set for tolerance level 7.

I can confirm that the XBRR is well tested and well sorted out and the folks leading the design team know the bike as well as anyone. I, for one, celebrate the commitment. There is, to repeat myself, so much at stake.

Badweb has access to access but if anyone where going to be in the area, I'd prefer, in pursuit of our common good, you keep others away. I'd particularly watch for license plate frames from Torrance, CA.

There's a lot of kinetic passion at present waiting to be released in a forward motion headed toward Turn 1 at Daytona. Like the racers, we're all headed the same direction.

I spent the day yesterday ordering up large customer banners and some fun stuff.

See you are the races. . .

WE'RE BACK

Jim,

I did think anony's slam was unnecessarily harsh, but the bit about the 160 MPH Ford Superduty diesel was pretty funny. You've got to admit, you did strongly imply the crash was at Texas; that is the subject of this thread. Considering Court's history lesson on the other thread it's understandable that some folks at Buell would be a mite sensitive about these things.

Maybe Jim can tell us the rest of his story before too long, and I hope someone will feed us at least a few tidbits of info from testing in TX as they develop.

I wish Erik Buell all the best in his efforts with the XBRR, and I'd really like to see a podium finish at the Daytona 200.

But. You have to be realistic and understand the competition that this team is up against.

I'm not anywhere near Texas today, but I can watch the competition and what they are up to at California Speedway, because the timing is live on AMA Superbike again today.

Yesterday Jason DiSalvo on his Formula Xtreme Yamaha R6 was running with the fastest liter bikes on the high speed course. Mat Mladin took the fastest time, naturally, but a lot the rest of those guys are signed up for Formula Xtreme.

http://www.amasuperbike.com and then click on the @theWire LIVE! Timing link on the left.

Only a month left before we can see what all of these bikes, AND the XBRRs will do side by side.

Go Buell!

Guess that give us some idea how close to stock a factory FX bike is eh?

As far as a waded up RR, I am sure there have been a few, stuff happens when testing. I do know that someone posting here occasionally is hurtin' a bit from one of those tests. Don't know how the bike made out however.

This is from the best mag ever www.roadracingworld.com

Source: Crevier, Not Picotte, To Ride Deeley Buell XB-RR At Daytona
Feb 08, 2006

Copyright 2006, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.

2005 Canadian 600cc Sport Bike Champion Steve Crevier will ride a Buell Firebolt XB-RR for Trev Deeley Motorcycles in the Daytona 200 AMA Formula Xtreme race next month, replacing Pascal Picotte, according to a knowledgeable source.

Two-time Canadian Superbike Champion Picotte had tentatively agreed to ride the controversial new Buell racebike in this year’s Daytona 200, pending the outcome of a test of the machine scheduled for this week at Texas World Speedway.

However, Yamaha Canada, Picotte’s main sponsor over the last two years, did not like the idea of Picotte racing another brand, according to our source.

Crevier is expected to test the new Buell this week in Texas.

Last year, Crevier raced Hondas for Diablo Performance, a private team in Canada.

D@mn! I was hoping to see Picotte on the Buell. I really think he had the experience @ Daytona and on V-Twins that would have made him a real threat to Honda & Yamaha.

OK, maybe I was rude, but I thought it was funny, too. And, although the ASBN guys may talk about how nice they all are, there are a number of them that, from the perspective of us who only see them on BWB, are very critical about the brand. When you work at the company and know how darned hard we work and how well some of our innovations work, it gets very frustrating.

All I can say, is the quoted source is not reliable, because there has not been an RR crashed at 160 mph. In fact, there has yet to be an RR crashed at any speed, come to think of it. I'm sure that will end soon, though, since it is a race bike! I hope not during the testing in Texas or in the Daytona week, since the bikes at the moment are really rare. But we're making more. And now I have to get out of here because we are not allowed to be posting!
