I heard Elvis crashed two of them at 175, then promised to keep everything top secret from the badweb.

Anony,

As an ASBN Leader, I can tell you that there are 1 or 2 guys in my mind who tend to be critical, but more than that is incorrect. I am pro-Buell all the way as are 98% of our members...many of whom don't post on the internet. We are a stand ALONE Buell enthusiast group, the biggest and best in the country. That's why we were so eager to have Erik with us for dinner last year at Laguna. We do what we do because we want to.

This last remark of your's is just plain off. You're disrespecting a fan base. I think you have problems with comprehension clearly and are over sensitive.

No apologies will be sought by me, I like it when people say what they feel. But I sure as heck hope your estimation of ASBN is not the norm at Buell.

Well said Jon,

I think anony is confusing Sacborg with ASBN.

You are just digging a deeper hole Anony.

A very weak excuse for an apology.Anon, your response was more than rude it was insulting and abusive. And to take a cheap shot at ASBN while you are at---ASBN is the oldest continuous and largest Buell enthusiast group. And we have had a couple of members with real lemons. All in all a very pro Buell bunch. When you post as an Anon we assume you are representing the factory and as such you have an enormous responsibility in that representation.Kinda like a guy with the company logo and phone # on his truck flipping someone off,not real professional and reflects poorly on him and the Co.--as you have.
Frankly I am disappointed. If you need that sort of response take it to Sacborg, they love that stuff and will give at least as good back.
I am getting tired of the Anons ability to stage these sort of attacks with impunity.

Anyway, the fastest formula extreme rider at Fontana (M. Barnes 1:28.26 18th overall)was 3.812 seconds slower than the fastest
superbike (M. Mladin 1:24.448 1st overall), 2.677 seconds slower than the fastest Superstock (J DiSalvo 1:25.583 5th overall),
and finally .267 seconds SLOWER than the fastest supersport rider (B Spies, 1:27.993 16th overall).

Of course there was a lot of tire and parts testing going on, but all of these guys wanted to come out of there with the fastest time in
their respective class. The biggest news is probably the r-6's lack of speed despite (false) headlines about amazing new top-end speed.

For us as Buell fans, kinda shows how fast our targets are moving.

Go Buell!

oh and it should be mentioned Spies was the only Supersport rider that beat Barnes' time for whatever thats worth.

>>>When you post as an Anon we assume you are representing the factory

There, perhaps at one time, was some merit to that. No longer. Some folks have chimed in on threads, carefully crafting "I can't say so, but I'm with the factory" sorts of answers.

I used to check these out. I just don't have the time anymore.

In this rough and tumble day of the internet, I'd assume nothing. It's a shady world.

DiSalvo turned a 1:26.073 on his FX R6 on Tuesday - that's close to SuperBike times. DiSalvo is going to be a force to reckon with in FX. Erion should stop whining about the XBRR and start worrying about DiSalvo.

I don't think we are going to hear much about this test. Any info posted here will go straight to Honda and Yamaha so I think we will have to wait for March to know how well it is going.

I certainly hope it went well.

J, If you were going racing would you want your opponent to know that you had a top speed of say 194 when they can only go 190 but think you can only go 185? I want my either foe comfortable in the knowledge that they are faster than me so that they relax just a little bit or I want then scared to death that I am faster then they are so they try all sort of stuff that makes their bike unreliable in an effort to get ahead of me.

If they know exactly where I am they then know just exactly where they need to be and I want them to be uncertain.

That said a picture or two would be fun. No numbers just a general here we are, things are going well. HD is much more secretive than most, can't really argue with that as they are doing pretty good in the marketplace these days, so I don't think we will hear much.

Don't want anyone getting fired for posting on this board.

Well I guess Buell does have the upper hand in secrey and benefit from knowing what their competition is capable of doing, with the info from Fontana. I guess we'll have to wait till race day to see the thing in action. Bummer. Wake me up when we have something to talk about.

Amen to all that. It would be cool to hear or see virtually anything at this point. Man, I'd LOVE to hear an audio recording of one of them going by at full-bore. Of course, some astute engineer at Honda would probably analyze the recording, and figure out the engine RPM and probable horsepower output, etc., etc....

Those times from Fontana are not completly accurate. You don't know what tires a guy is running, how much gas they have, are they running a race simulation or just testing a new fork.

Does anyone know if those times are from the transponders on the bikes or just stop watch times? I believe MotoGP does not release trasnponder times for test sessions, I don't know about AMA.

well lets look into this shall we?

Has Erik hurt his hand?
Was it on a bike?
What kind of bike was it? a street bike? a XBRR? or some combo?
Why would someone from Buell lie to oldest/largest Buell enthusiasts groups in the world?

People posting here know the answers.. and have let Jim twist in the wind... which is pretty low if you ask me. I've lost alot of respect for ya over this.

and the board has, at least publically, again let anon poster trash someone personally, and now insult the ASBN. Exeedingly poor form for all invovled.

in the end, I guess it REALLY isnt that big of deal, unless you were the one who was accused of being full of it by someone who loosely represents the factory, and all over what may turn out to be a technicallity (Erik may have crashed a bike and hurt his hand doing so, but it wasnt an XBRR, it was really a "street" bike with other stuff on it... just a possible sceniero).

not a big deal, but reflects poorly on all involved... including Buell Motorcycle Co. (because the implication of Anon. being someone from Buell).

and all for repeating a story heard at a Buell enthusiasts meeting *shakes head*

actually, to me.. if Erik WAS out testing a XBRR, I think thats as cool as all get out. Good on ya Erik. Heck, thats worth some press shots... The Creator and his Machine, out getting jiggy with it. WAY cool.

anyway... please feel free to trash me now for saying that Erik ridin the XBRR would be cool.

*runs off the cash check from Suzuki Co. for hating Buells*

Not only that, but a race is a show. You don't want to show up and have everyone think you should win. Thats a loose/loose situation.

Dave,

Those times from Fontana are completely accurate. They came from AMA transponders. I was watching it "live" on the AMA Superbike website. The same time scoring equipment they use in the races.

Of course there were different times for different models of bikes, different suspension setups, different tires, that is why they call it TESTING!.

If it were a race, they would call it racing.

there is a fair bit of ego involved in being the fastest at a multi team test. From the riders and from the teams.

I do not believe anyone ran "Q"'s at Fontana, but everyone there made a go at getting the best lap time they could on
the bike they were testing. There is no glory in sandbagging, and no value in the data gained from it when you already
know what the other guy has. Which pretty much defines the situation for the teams in the test. For most this was
The team's last test before Daytona. They were there to find more speed.

Are we going to at least find out what tires Buell is going to be running for Daytona? That shouldn't be too secret.

I think H-D has a pretty close relationship to Dunlop, and IMO, Dunlop may have designed the new "qualifiers" with the RR in mind.

I wouldn't count Pirelli out either. They have a strong racing program, and they also have ties to Buell. Scorpion Synch's come on every city-X.

Trying to glean any info from this test that I can!

.... hummmmm I heard from a good source that Erik hurt is hand and some ribs, testing some tire... I don't think it was on a street bike ; )
