Blake,
Can you calculate the BMEP for this motor?
It would be interesting to compare it to the stock motor and other racing V twins.

If as someone posted earlier all xbrr parts will be available from the dealer it'll be easy to "roll your own".
Pick which bits you want to use and run with it.

Not likely

You can now get "Race Only" parts through your dealer IF AND ONLY IF you are a currently licensed racer. As a racer, I have to say it would be cool to be able to buy some true performance parts through the dealer.

I would hope though that they DO eventually produce/sell aftermarket stuff in the same context as "Screaming Eagle"

How far will 4.4 gallons take 150 plus hp at wide open throttle? Could this mean more pi stops and more tire changes? Fresh tires helped matt maladin win last year. ( 3stops to most took only 2)

Can you provide a lap time of a XBRR on any track please?

A batch of bikes for American customers are being built in February. Not much time to sort a new racer before Daytona 200 on March 11. I'd be delighted to see one Buell XBRR finish the 200 miles. Top ten I'd be delerious! I doubt they will finish near the Yamahas. JMHO

Vaxb; AMA has allowed Aux fuel tanks for the Air Cooled Twins (Buell) in FX. I think the total amount of fuel they will carry is unknown to us. It has been mentioned that Buell is testing tires with an eye toward going the entire 200 miles without a change. I assume the teams would size the tank to allow 200.1 miles of range.

It appears AMA has waived homologation rules for Buell also. I thought the number of bikes to be sold were certified street bikes. Hence HD sold the VR1000 in Eastern Europe where no smog rules applied. Can someone fluent in AMA rulebooks check these? (I'm not claiming that Buell cheated. Just having a conversation.)

FX bikes are based on street bikes with a long list of allowable changes. The XBRR has all the changes allowed for a twin. They could make one and race it as the street bike it is based on is the XB12. This is is considered by the AMA as a Formula Extreme modified XB. This may seem way beyond the pale BUT it is not called Extreme for nothing.

I was considering exactly what Davegess just posted last night. The XBRR uses a standard xb
frame, and the motor is based on the current generation of thunderstorm motor. As such they
probably aren't required to produce more than what they chose to build for select teams.

We should all be thankful that they choose to share the goodies, and that the parts will become
available soon. It's not much of a stretch for anyone on this board to find a licensed racer to
help make a special purchase after all. The Buell community has one, if not the highest ratios
of racers to street riders in motorcycling.

Not that anyone would ever use race parts on the street.

I tried to post a retraction of my observations about 30k vs 10k last night, but I think I never hit the final submit button after spell check.

Court - one note - it may be some crazy cool engineering, but in racing its the ends that count, not the means. On the street I love the funky vibe - in a race I just want to win. If it doesn't win it misses the mark. All the riders who are announced so far are of course way faster than me - but are they faster than DuHamel or the other top tier guys? I hope that big torque helps em launch onto the banks with class-changing speed!

wow... its just been announced, and already its beating ever other bike on the grid...

go buell.

to finish first... first one must finish.

why dont ya wait until this thing has actually taken a green flag before the checkered flag predictions.

all in all, pretty cool. Take what you've learned from people racing your bikes, turn it around into a ready to run version.

pricey at $31k, but thats at least what it takes to make an AMA class racer. at least. Like Terry said, they have nearly that much into their AFM F4 bike, and it competes with SV650's (now who here doubted that they've put ALOT of money into thiers?).

again, pretty cool. Would like to see it FINISH a race though.

>>>but in racing its the ends that count, not the means.
>>>If it doesn't win it misses the mark.

Both statements are dead accurate and represent one of the 3 reasons you didn't see this bike on last years grid.

If you need assurances that I was saying precisely what you just did, just check my posts from last year in response to the "whaddya mean Buell won't be at Daytona". Erik Buell will NOT go to Daytona just to race. . . it would insult everything he is and has been. Erik Buell will go to Daytona for only one reason. Many here will understand that the situation is like Vince Lombardi saying "hey, win or loose, it's just an honor to be here".

I predict that Erik Buell will be, for the coming weeks, one of the most acutely focused beings you've ever seen. Some of us have waited too long for this.

To quote the famous Marvin K. Mooney . . .

The time is now.

Mr_cuell, other than Mike Hale racing for Richard Cronraths team we haven't yet seen any concrete evidence as to who will be riding for whom. The names that have been mentioned are plenty capable to be racing right up there with the likes of DuHamel, Zemke, DiSalvo, and Bostrom. Jeremy McWilliams has been mentioned as a possible rider, this guy comes off of an injury plagued year from the British Superbike series. Prior to that he was a mainstay in MotoGP (yes MotoGP the top level racing series. Pascal Picotte has also been mentioned and you will not find a more capable rider (as well as approachable). He is coming off a solid year in the Canadian series, but prior to this last year he was back to back champion in the series. Picotte is also famous for riding the VR1000 to its limits, placing the bike much further up the field than it probably deserved. Ciccotto will probably be racing for Hals, but we have had no official word as of yet. He certainly has plenty of experience on the Buell and has always placed well in the past. We have also not heard anything defintive on Higbee (will he be able to race?) or Estok.

If ya go to the photos on the Buell web site and look at the last one. The pic of someones hand, It almost looks like pins sticking out of the glove. Was it the left hand that Higbee hurt? Could be my imagination too though.

This was quoted from the Sport Rider Special Edition Photo Annual, page 48:

"The official Honda team will not race the Formula Xtreme class in '06 with Duhamel and Zemke concentrating on Superbike."

This makes things EXTREMELY interesting for Daytona!

Hey, Chop! I noticed you took my advice. Last time I dropped in on SacBorg I noticed it no longer called itself a Buell site. Truth in advertising at last!

After these bikes and parts trickle down to club level there will be a new name for those who race Sv650s. They will be called 'losers'. Better sell them before everyone catches on.

One thing stands out about Buell over the years. They sure can talk a good fight.

If the RR is really that aerodynamic, being developed over many light years in a wind tunnel, then WTF is that front hugger? Stock XB!!! Now that's some $31000 investment and someone at R&D overlooked the front hugger

The SV's have been toast for anyone who wants to cook em for the last 2 years haven't they? A stock XB with mid 90's is eligible to race against SS SV's with mid 70's ubless I have read he rules wrong (which is always a very distinct possibility) Even Superbike SV's are just on par with the XB's on power - whats new?

I think the original statement referred to the repli-racers, and not the race bikes themselves. The post that started it was claiming that a $10k streetbike was going to be faster than the XBRR.

dropped Buell from SacBorg? Think again skippy. and thanks for visiting the site. What gives you the idea that Buell is out of the name? Delusions?

Obviously you missed FMJ's Buell on the home page. You missed the positive discussion of the XBRR. Cecil likes the brand again (a sure sign of impeding doom of mankind).

You need professional help oh Buell-less one. You continue to point that finger at others and cry about not owning a Buell, while you still dont own one.

P.S. there are as many people racing Buells at SacBorg as there are here... perhaps more. Suck it up, live with it.

oooohhhhh, thats right... you;ve NEVER owned one or raced one... yer point again was?

SV's toast? Where? How? in what series? In what racing org?

again... Vallejo has spent nearly the cost of a new XBRR to make thier Buell comptetive with SV's.

hardly toast.
