Search for o-ring.
Up to 225mm diameter stuff.
Also roll stock if you have an open-ended application.
Also check out surgical tubing, it's not just for slingshots.

Also check out plumbing supply contractor warehouses in your area. There are some big plumbing jobs around.

dog...

the more things change... the more things stay the same.

1974 Republic of Korea. 16 Km from the DMZ. During my stay at Camp Red Cloud with the U.S Army Signal Corp, we had about 5 or 6 actual combat alerts... some incident that could have potentually rekindled the war. We geared up with pistol belt, butt pack and mag pouches, responded to the armory, and was issued M-16 rifles. We then reported to our duty post to wait and see what happened. Keep in mind that Camp Red Cloud was half way between Seoul and the DMZ. Anything above Seoul was considered lost if they crossed the DMZ. We were openly told that.

OK... here is the same ole same ole your kin are experiencing. We had no magazines, no ammo, nor even a bayonette. Maybe that was why they considered everything above Seoul lost in an invasion! DUH!!!

During my stay there was a sea raid on Pusan Harbor (WAY South of the DMZ), two helicopters shot and forced down, and a commercial air liner shot at... also there was the tunnel found under the DMZ that a guy from Camp Red Cloud was killed by a boobie trap when they secured it. In addition to the countless little fire fights in the DMZ that never made news in the US media!

I wonder if some of those in charge will ever "get it"!!

I hope they finish their tour with only this type of story to tell... pass on from us.. "stay safe" and do what they can in spite of stupid SOP to make it home.

Bill,

In my area there are numerous gasket supply houses (companies). They stock and make any type of gasket you need, including the orange nitrile o-rings. Not sure what you're trying to do but the temperature range of nitrile (Buna-N) o-rings may be an issue, so check the compound if temperature is an issue. I'm also not sure how elastic nitrile is. If it doesn't have to be nitrile, don't forget how they launch the model hand gliders.

Here is a o-ring specific site.

Thanks everyone, I will pursue those leads. This site is great!

I want to look at using them as non invasive hold downs for a homebrew airbox cover. Basically big high quality rubber bands. I will post pictures if I do it and it looks like it will work.

Moffet is not a Naval Air Station anymore. It's a Federal Air Field.

I'm just being picky.

BluzM2-
Hey Brad,
I came up to the Cities tonight and brought that special t-shirt along. I got here too late to get it to your house even though we were at Elk River.

I'm going to leave it at my parent's and you guys can make arrangements. His name is Don, 952-943-2912. Give him a call.

Catch you later,
Mike

It may have been redesignated. When I was stationed there, it was a NAF.

Hoot,
While you've been alive, Moffett has never been a Naval Air Field. There is no such thing. I think you're mistaking it's name(Moffett Field) with it's technical title(NAS [Naval Air Station])

Loki - I live in San Lorenzo (about 30 miles north) and should have an empty condo about then. Getting married in November and the wife-to-be lives in LA. The commute from SLz to Sunnyvale would be hell, but keep it in mind. Let me know when the dates are firmed up and we can see if it will work out.

"Moffett has never been a Naval Air Field. There is no such thing"

That is incorrect. NAF is a Naval Air Facility, and they do exist.

Brad,
Sorry I missed you. A good freind's of ours 16 yr.-old daughter was killed in a car accident last Sat. You may have seen it in the paper.

We ran up Thu. for the visitation. There were over 5,000 people there and it took us 2 hours just to get to talk to the parents. We then had to run back home for the football game after the funeral.

She was a super kid and it is going to be awful hard on her parents.

I was hoping to go to the BRAG Regional meeting at Sauk Prairie but Drew's school is having a Parent's weekend that day.
