DAve,

If I'd had the would be in the garage NOW! I keep dreaming about 43mm inverted Ohlins up front with Brembo's and floating discs...nitrogen charged adjustable rear shocks...tuff enough!

FYI I'm gettin' the idea that the Duc900SS is a tad underpowered...spent a day chasing Racerboy's ST1300, a DL1000 Zuk, 996 Honda and a pair of GoldWings all the way to Rolla. Goldwings for crying out loud! And one of them was 2-up! I'll mention the '04 RC51 only as a side note, it passed whatever at will...

Kevyn,
Nice link. I've always lusted for an XLCR. Looks a tad pricey though. Can I make my Buell into one? My black X1 would be a good donor.

Hey guys with friends sons and daughters in the military, my girlfriend has been recieving trash in her email that eventually got tracked back to her being part of a web group for girlfriends of Marines. The Authorities said to make sure that you don't post whereabouts of soldiers and to much info, eg. names associated with other specifics etc. and all that.
Just with everything spicing up so much out there I would hate for anything to come back on any of our buddies or loved ones.
Damn it sucks that trying to shout out thanks and support can now bite us in the .

Unit addresses are OK. By all means hand em out, the guys can use the mail. Just don't talk about what they do specifically or where they operate.

Good lookin out Oconnor...

Actually, I don't even like posting my unit mailing address. I burn anything with an address on it, (after I open it, of course). I guess I'm paranoid that some wacko is going to send me a letter bomb.

Hell, I even check under my HMMWV for foreign objects before I drive it, and this is on a secure basecamp in a quiet city! My NCO thinks I'm nuts, because everytime we go to drive somewhere, I take a minute or two to walk around the truck, looking at it and under it. Sort of like a quick PMCS/bomb check...

Sean that's a good thing to do with any vehicle anywhere, I'm a truck driver & it's an ingrained habit with me.
Keep your head down & your spirits up, people all over the the world have you in their thoughts, Cheers, Innes.

ps If you get back in time, buy your bike & ride it up to Newfieland for August, I think we can guarantee you at least a dozen drinks.

Great toy for the traveling Bueller. Portable Sony CD/DVD/MP3/WAV/WMA/CDburner. 8MB cache, lighted remote, incl base station which can hold extra batteries. $92+tax (free ship) down from $300 just a few months ago.
Use your DVD burner to dump 4.7 GB of MP3s onto a DVD, put it in this, stick in your tank bag and enjoy music for years.

(you need a computer to play DVDs or burn CDs)

Sorry, search Best Buy's site for "MPD-AP20U" or Sony portable cd dvd.
It's backordered and I wound up getting a Sony MZ-S1 Sports minidisc player on clearance from CircuitCity for $66 (it's on sale at Best Buy for $129). I didn't realize the 80min/500MB minidiscs were only $1.25 ea or so. not a 4.7GB DVD but smaller and lighter.

Yea, but MD only takes live recording. I'm a bigger fan of drag and drop. MD was the answer for me or so I thought until I found that out the hard way...After purchase.

IPOD will be mine but must save the pennies...

Depends on the MD that you purchase Charlie. You can do D&D with a few of them. The Sony NetMD will D&D for instance.

iPod...maybe someday - it'll match the iBook I got not so long ago.

I looked into getting a decent disc player that would do MP3s, but the solid-state stuff appeals to me much more on the jouncy roads of southeast Michigan.

I've got a 'piddly' little Rio Cali 256mb MP3 player that I love. It's got an expansion slot in it, too - SD, up to 512MB. Works great on the road, whether it's bikes, walking, blading, riding, etc.

I got an iPod as a present and love it. It's the smaller capacity 15GB, but still holds about 2200 songs (yes, all from my own CD collection - nothing pirated : )). I have yet to try it out on the bike to see how well it handles the vibrations, but it has some 15 minute bump protection, so I'm hoping.

Other good features is the calender and address book function, where you can sync up the info on your computer so it's available on the iPod. And finally, there is a new gadget out that will allow you to download photos from a digital camera to the iPod as well.

All in all, I'm hoping that it'll replace my PDA, CD-player and CD's and a stack of CompactFlash cards for travel purposes.

Henrik
(having the iPod on "shuffle all" is quite entertaining as well; "Great Ladies Sing the Blues" followed by NIN "Piggy" followed by Danish punk etc. etc.)

I just dragged and dropped MP3 and WMAs to my Sony. Quality was poor from the 96kbps WMAs but ok from 128kbps MP3s (into LP2 mode). I did not do much testing tho.
However, from the original cd directly into LP2 (160min/minidisc) I cannot tell a difference (I have only played back on the headphones I'm taking not my Sennheisers). LP4 mode (320min/md) plays back in my truck on the interstate with no audible problems (I expect it to be comparable with 96kbps MP3s).
CDs rip onto md @10x in LP2 mode and 32x in LP4 mode.

Not sure how many here on Bad Web have visited this site, if you haven't it worth checking out! Almost every motorcyle ever produced is there.

I've compressed all my music into 192 kbps mp3, until AAC came out - now I'm using 192 kbps AAC. Sounds good with no noticeable distortion using decent headphones.

Got my kids, for their Birthdays, and the wife some small pocket MP3 players, they love them. You can record audio or any files on them, USB type, plug, load, play, also real easy fit in pocket or clip on your belt, can also hang from your neck. They come in all types of sizes 64mb to 1Gb, the 128mb holds, I think about 30-35 songs, varies of course. I'm a cheapo so I got mine at Gateway, but their good, they have a lot of neat little features.

Josh or any other MD fans if you havn't check out:

minidisc.org

On another note Sony has developed a new form of MD that now allows for upload of data. This is a huge step as you can finally upload your own live recorded MD's digitally to your PC! This is what NetMD was originally designed for but left out due to piracy issues and such. After a zillion people petitioned sony for it the latest release has included the feature. Very cool indeed!

Unfortunately we have another rider down.

Lou Conroy (aka Ravensmith22) went down on his XB9 last night along Hwy 280 and I94 here in Mpls.
Sounds like he went into the guard rail.
I don't know much so far other than he has two broken legs, both arms broken, broken ribs and a broken collar bone.
They have him in an induced coma right now so no visitors.
He's at Regions Hospital in St.Paul.

Lou works at St. Paul HD/Buell. Sounds like he's gonna have a little undesired vacation from the shop.
I don't have anything other than his work email.
I'll check if he has a home address for private email.

Bummer....

Brad

I just talked to Nils at SPHD, I added more info above.
Bike is totaled, Nils said it looked it endo'd a few times.

Love my iPod. I too downloaded my cds using 192k/AAC format and the quality is very good. Also bought the Belkin media card reader for photo storage and the iTrip FM transmitter to play music over my car/home stereos. The iPod and iTunes is a great system and I would recommend it to anyone.

??? Is there an inordinate amount of XB accidents or is it just this internet age where we have the opportunity to know much more than we'd otherwise know about (and therefore not really that many accidents...).

It's probably the internet and the particularly close knit family (compared to other bikes anyway) us Buellers enjoy.

Please keep us updated Bluz...
