that guy has BIG BRASS ones !!!
that's the type of film you show the noobs and say, "don't do this"!!!
I wondered what kind of rubber he has to get such good traction in the rain like that. You could here it spinning, but he kept good control...
Gotta agree with Rokoneer, that guy squeezed through some tight spots...

You could tell when he let the tail slide out, keep your eye on the mastercylinder resevoir. It gives a real good idea of the steering input when the back end lets go.

Hey Jerry!...I just got back from John's (V2win) house as he is laid up from knee replacement surgery two weeks ago today...He's doing very well and is up to 114 degrees of torture...I took him some dvd's and tapes and we watched "On Any Sunday" together this evening (holding hands, of course)...John hadn't seen it since it was first released and I can't begin to tell you how many times I've seen it...And the question came up as to if they still hold the Elsinore GP on the city streets?...We're betting not and then wondering when it was last held?

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks Shawn for the info...I can't believe they still let them get away with THAT in CA...You would think it had become politically incorrect along with a lot of other things we used to be able to do...Remember the start of the desert race in "On Any Sunday"?...Looks like a bunch of ants and burning a stack of tires for the signal beacon...CARB would just love that...And in the opening scene "Does this bike make my ass look fat?"...Amazing how that flick is still so entertaining...

I just created a Yahoo Group site where we can chat...I have turned off the message capability of the group so that it does not "compete" in any way with this site...The chat works by either using your keyboard or with a mic and speakers and sound card, should you have them...The group can be found at
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/badweatherbikerschat/

You first need to register as a new user (if you're not already using Yahoo Groups) and then join the specific group listed above...

I hope everyone enjoys this...

I've got a Jaz can on my 2000 M2. I'd say it does a good job, along with rerouting the breathers. If I go for an hour or so long spirited ride, a significant amount of crap drains out of the can. A vast majority is water, but there's quite a bit of oil in it as well. Maybe tomorrow I'll catch a bit and let it separate and see what the proportions are.

Racerboy,
While we appreciate your good intentions, we'd prefer not to have "badweatherbikers" used in the name of your chat board. Best thing for chatting online is simply MSN Messenger or ICQ or AOL's version, one of those types of services. Yahoo mines a lot of info from users before allowing them to use any of their services. Thanks for understanding.

Racerboy,
Now you know the feeling. You know, the sensation of that pile of warm shit you stepped into and as it slowly makes it way up between your toes, you realize that you just made a mistake.

If you just have to have a chat room, rename it Fair Weather Bikers or something like that. This time of year, no one should be on the net chatting anyway. Its time to ride. Unless your in my situation of course. But then again, I dont want to talk either. : )

By the way, would you please stop holding my hand and telling. : )

Rocket... I don't know who the admin was, but if you want something to get upset about, this is the wrong fight to pick...

Go rename your garage "Harley Davidson Repair Shop" and see how far that gets you. Sure, you work on Harley Davidson. Sure, you are a repair shop. What's the problem, right?

Yahoo is getting more aggressive all the time about getting more and more invasive, which is their business. I choose to avoid them when possible because of it, that's my business.

The only way Admin err'd was trying to be helpful, and giving people a heads up that Yahoo (and even AOL instant messenger now) are getting very pushy and invasive.

The answer to "can I call a non badweatherbikers created entitiy a badweatherbikers entity" is "no, but thanks anyway". No suprise, no big deal.

The answer to "should I use the yahoo voice chat facility" is "I wouldn't, but the crap you throw on your computer is your business".

Sorry if these two questions and answers got confused.

All,

AOL instant messenger now installs SPYWARE on your computer.

Download Spybot or AD-Aware to remove it. Make sure you update the reference files before scanning.

Rocket,
I prefer not see "BadWeatherBikers" associated with anything outside of my purview, and I'd especially not like to see it associated with yahoo. Why do you have a problem with that. Going bipolar on me again? I'm sure Racerboy will understand. I use the admin sign-in for such things as not all know my duties here on BadWeB. I post the request publicly so that everyone can see and know the policy here wrt such things.

Got the S1 cranked up yet?

Blake...I couldn't agree more...I just leave my email up and paging in new mail from all of you...The voice feature is really nice, though...It would be GREAT to hear José , Jerry, yourself and so many others...What I've done is schedule a weekly chat on Tuesday evenings at 9 p.m. local...So it could start as early as 6 p.m. for the left coasters but the idea is that those in your own time zone would drop by around 9...But I might start looking for José as early as 8 here in the central zone...

Yea, you do have to put up with a bit of advertising from Yahoo and you should be running a program like Spybot, a firewall and virus stuff...But you should be running all of that in any case...

Hell, let's see how this goes...Worst case I now know how to delete the group...

Thanks All,

Bob

Blake, I know you're admin that's why I wrote my comment a little tongue in cheek. My chameleon comment was in reference to you having three ways to post, Blake, moderator and admin.

I thought Bob's Badweather name was right on the money, despite your inhibitions towards Yahoo. After all, what harm could it bring? So when does common sense prevail around here? No, don't answer that thanks. My apologies and best I mind my own business.

Ah the Big Buell. Thanks for asking. S&S rods and pin arrive Friday. Just won Buell rear-sets and a replacement cf front hugger off Ebay. The hugger will replace the one I damaged in France in 2001. As you can see, I'm committed to getting the Big Buell sorted. My target is July but I'm stuck for cylinders and pistons. Then I get to thinking I might increase the capacity. Hmm, we'll see.

Still, the 916 hits 130 in 4th at close to 11 grand and I feel like I could win a world title!

Has anyone come up with a system for changing the oil filter without oil draining down all over the front of the engine. This was the first oil change I've done on the 2001 S3T, and short of holding the bike over while someone takes the filter off.......there has to be something I'm missing here.

Some kind of splash guard like a cut down gallon plastic jug or old newspapers duct taped to the motor or alum foil works for me. If you're the strong type, just lay the bike on its left side and, well, you're halfway there. : )

Mikexup,

Ride bike to get oil warm. Park on sidestand. Punch hole in top of oil filter with 16 penny nail. Rotate filter so the hole drains downward into your catch pan. Use a cut up plastic soda bottle for a funnel if req'd.

While that is draining get your other catch pan and drain the oil from the sump.

By the time you're done with the sump the oil filter should be about finished. If not, have a cold beverage and come back in a few minutes. Wrap the filter in a rag (or paper towel), spin it off and you're on your way to a pretty clean oil change.

I also like to get the latex gloves in boxes from Kragen Auto Parts.

YMMV.

Rocket,

Sorry ole buddy... I am not the "moderator". That's one of your other antagonizers.

I don't mind explaining... The harm is that once you let someone else take off with your web site name, the whole world feels justified doing so and you have absolutely no recourse in stopping it since you've already set precedent by allowing the first such breach of copyright. Sooner or later you find www.fuzzykittens forbadweatherbikers.com or the "badweatherbikers diet book" or "badweatherbikers fluffy skirts" on the home shopping channel. The horror! joker

I've ridden a couple 88" Buells. I want one. Scary.

Thanks Jim,
I like the idea of the sixteen penny nail that makes sense to me and will definitely try it next time. I didn't drain the sump when I changed oil this time, about how much oil will will a person get out of this if everything is working the right way? The book calls for two quarts of oil, but that didn't even touch the dipstick. This was after the bike was warmed up and there shouldn't have been any great amount laying in the sump. Added enough to get it up on the stick, took a long ride and checked it again, seemed to be the same place on the stick. Is the owners manual wrong, does it take more than two quart. Thanks for the info, nice to have a place to go to get answers. Mike

Mike,
Oil change with filter change on my X-1 takes close to 2.5 qts. and that puts oil midway between marks on dip stick. Owners manual says capacity of oil tank is 2 quarts. I always figured the other half quart fills filter, lines, sump, etc. This thread should probably move to KV.
