Quick question, Someone posted on one of the V-Rod forums that he had it from reliable sources that HD was bringing out a sport touring version with the V-Rod motor under the Buell product line.

Being both a current (wife's Blast) and ex-Bueller (S3t) I don't believe it. I remember a quote from Eric that he would never build a water cooled bike.

Was he trolling or is there something to this?

I like Rocket's idea of a more "uplifting" name. I also like the idea of a no-post page with links to threads where friends could post about the individual.

>>>quote from Eric ?

You are providing subtle hints of how closely you read and comprehend.

<IMG SRC=">

By the way....you are nearly right. It was not "never" it was words to the effect that there was lots left in the current engine and there simply was no need, at present, for the complexity.

Court,

I took liberties on the "quote" and I will be the first to admit that I haven't been following the Buell happenings closely over the last 2 years since I sold the S3.

I pop onto the board every now and then to research things for the wife's Blast and to see how the XB's are working our for people. Of course you're right that the actual quote wasn't "never" but he has said that he isn't a fan of switching over to a water cooled package unless there's sound technical reasons to do it. As it stands now the VR motor is a large package that would be difficult at best to plug into a current Buell frame.

Having experienced the VR motor over the last 6 months I can tell you all here that it's a great motor with tons of potential. With simple external mods (pipe, air filter, ECM programming) I've been able to add 15% more real world HP to the rear wheel. I know many people are working on bore kits and cam packages that take the motor to ~150 Rear Wheel HP without losing driveability or durability! Other than a Buell, it's the ONLY HD product I ever considered owning and I think it's a great complement to an XB12S for someone looking for a cruiser to augment their sport bike. If Eric and his team of engineers were to take the motor and fashion a modern sport touring bike I would be one of the first in line to take one home.

What a day in NYC....it's...well, "Kansas Cold". I shot an erie photo this morning out the bedroom window of the harbor with steam coming off the ocean and the Statue of Liberty shrouded about the base.

Leeson learned this week: If you are going to talk on your cellphone (illegal in NYC) and get distracted, it is UNWISE to pile your Camry into, and through the 200#, 400# and 800# Yellow barrels, situated in front of the new portable building with the .50Cal emplacement and surrounded by America's Finest (albeit the oldest 22) armed with 8 shot Parkerized Mossbergs and M-16's, and into the Amida portable generator/light tower, sending the light tower flying into a wad at the base of 9 such armed folks.

As I passed I tried to snap a photo of the young kid with the gun, obviously scared shitless only moments before, smoking a cigarette with the vigor Pam Nelson did the day she got caught with Steve Johnson in the garage behind McQueens Grocery.

Inattentive driving in it's greatest hour....and further evidence as to why Henrik owns ONLY motorbikes.

:)

For a memorial page, I like Rocket's thinking. How 'bout:

BadWeb Ghostriders

In Los Alamos, Ca. there's a biker bar called Ghostriders. The widow who owns the place dedicated it to her husband and riders who have passed on. One cool touch, there are shadowed images of bikers in the wind painted on its walls inside.

I'd urge cautious diliberation before going beyomd a simple memorial written by a person selected to write about each lost Buell Rider.

The internet is known for it's candor and it's no secret that one our our losses during the last year was preceeded by substance abuse and taking risks that should never have been taken. I'd hate to see that discussion under a person's name and his/her family reading it.

I, personally, would like to see the memorialized, not retroactively judged and second guessed.

I'd urge cautious deliberation before going beyond a simple memorial written by a person selected to write about each lost Buell Rider.

It is simply a matter of common sense that's all. I mean fer chrisakes we're talking about structuring a page where people can build a personal memorial to whoever, be it me you or Barry Sheene.

We are not opening a topic where people can debate the circumstances surrounding a persons passing - even more so if it were under such circumstance as you bring to light.

Hello fellow Badweb Boys and Girls! I am back at college after a nice long winter break. How I spent my winter break here in PA:
1. Rebuilt igniton system on our 42 WLA, then rode it till it was outta gas.
2. Took many rides with AWPRIOR, hitting the twisties on 851.
3. between me and Prior, we drank a case and a half of Yuengling Lager, the nector of God, a week.
4. Got the Ole Montesa Texan runnin
5. The best Christmas gift; spending it with my friends and my family
The second best; An autographed poster of the Buell 20th, has 8 bikes on it, along with Aaron Wilson's badass Team Elves bike. Thanks Prior.
6. The old man telling motorcycle stories of racing in the Baja, scrambles, Nortons, BSA's, and Triumphs.

All in all, it twas a great break, relaxing, and wrenching on everything in sight with Prior. Got some great rides in, however the single digits set in, cutting our adventures short.

Sorry I have been slacking on the discussions here, I do not have internet access at home.
Rocket, Preach Brother Preach, I agree. I thought that would go without saying, the page should be to the memory of those past, not to debate the circumstances of their long ride home.

Righto, I have to read from December 11th till today to see what I missed out on. Later on fellas...

Ryan---

I don't know about Court and Aaron, but I'll be there representing Custom Chrome and Motorcycle Stuff.

I'll also be playing hockey in the industry once a year 4 team round robin tournament held each year there at Indy. It's put on by the owner of Racer X magazine.
