Auroradusk, I am told that it takes three things for a internal combuston engine to work. Spark, air and fuel in the correct amounts. So if your motor spins over but does not fire you can start cheking these things. You can buy a device that fits between the spark plug and plug wire that lights up when there is a spark. That will tell you if you have a spark. These bikes have a fuel pump if I am not mistaken. Is it running? Is fuel getting to the injectors or fuel rail? Check your fuses just to be sure none of them are blown. The manual will help you with this. But if the bike is under warranty, take it in. But do check that you have fuel in the frame. That one is embarrasing. | ||

Jim Witt, I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but is that a swing arm on the front of that bike? Wasn't there an old Honda or Yamaha with a swing arm up front? I wonder how that rides... | ||

Stingroo, yes it was the Yamaha GTS-1000. I recall that it was ahead of its time in some respects, but it was a bit heavy and a bit underpowered. | ||

Glitch, The local comic shop has a 2 foot model of Keneda's bike. The first 10 minutes of that movie ("Akira"  blew my mind & gave me a deep appreciation for anime. Thanks to everyone for your help. My Spark plugs were bad. The shop replaced them for me and the bike runs 100% better than when I bought it. Too bad the temp dropped. I think my riding days are over for the next 6 months or so,  | ||

Auroradusk, If you must park the bike for the season make sure and get some good advice for storage. Among those are. 1. One last ride to get the oil changed. 2. A battery tender. 3. Top off the gas tank. 4. A bottle of Stabil never hurts 5. A breathable cover 6. Move it around every once in a while to keep the tires from flat spotting. 7. A milk crate for some quality Zen time I'm sure I've forgotten something but I only store Em for a week in February.  edited by jst on October 25, 2003 | ||

No, no last Concorde flights for me ... but like the Fireman suspected I really feel my age today "> If you don't do what they tell you, you *will* fall down hard. Lean into a turn instead of sitting up and you'll likely fall hard onto your arm and bend/break a rib .... I had 2 absolutely fantastic riding days with American Supercamp!!! Danny Walker who owns/runs the school is a fantastic and very enthusiastic teacher - imagine the energy level of both of the Nallins in the same room  "> In short, he's put together a very efficient program to teach neophytes like me to slide it into a turn. The school uses 100 cc Honda 4-stroke bikes, which he claims puts out all of 5 1/2 HP. I would never have thought I could have that much fun with less HP than an average lawn mover and patch of dirt. It's a 2-day program that starts you out on a small oval track where they introduce the basics of flat track turning: run it in deeper than you think; ease on the rear brake and push the bike down under you; get to full lean and minimum speed and point the bike in the right direction; pick it back up and ease on the gas. To enhance the learning process the instructors are positioned at each turn and will happily help you remember arm and body position with a smack with a stick . At some point to emphasize the importance of body position they water down the track so you're now riding in "no traction" mud. A couple of instructors are riding along with each group and have a lot of fun sliding around you while spraying you with mud. Good fun. More drills are executed; doughnuts, brake slides etc. etc. until you finally get the point: you need to stay on the gas deep into the corner and slow down by getting the bike sideways with you sitting upright on the outside of the seat - then get it pointed in the right direction before you ease on the gas. Quote: "if you get on the gas hard, all you'll ever get is small trophies". The second day we started out the program on a horse shoe shaped track to get familiar with longer turns, and that afternoon they set up a full TT-style track covering the whole arena. What a BLAST!! By then I had an idea of what it was about - just an idea mind you - and truly enjoyed getting it sideways. Felt like a kid again - so much fun to play and learn. Chris Carr was there as guest instructor as well - a huge bonus. His riding technique is simply outstanding. For those who are not familiar with the 4-time national champion, Chris is the Matt Mladin of Flat Track. Chris is also the only rider to put the HD racing attempt on the box in AMA Superbike racing. Even if you enjoy riding in general this school will be a huge eye-opener for the fun to be had on two wheels. If you do any dirt at all, this is a great opportunity to become a better and safer dirt rider. Heck, you may even become a safer street rider as well. The curriculum is first class. The instructors are very skilled, personable and have a great time teaching - and it shows. I've done quite a few track days in the last years and have enjoyed it - but have probably also let myself get caught up in the "I must go faster" thing, rather than just practice and have fun. American Supercamp was all fun and left me absolutely bubbling with joy of riding and learning. As Chris Carr said: "this is too dangerous a sport, to do it and not have fun".
