Standing in the H-D dealer, chatting with a guy riding a Yamaha scooter, he asks "which bike here has the most Horsepower?". I glance around, point at the V-Rod, "that one.." then over at the XB12, "then that one." pause, " guess which one handles better?" I ask. Scooter rider laughs, "what do you ride?" I point out the door at my M2. More laughter. As I leave, he's sitting on the XB9SL making "hmmm" noises. have a nice ride. | ||

Dyna, I just took exception to your claim that Buell copied Honda. Not true. Check out when they started talking about it, and it was definitely after 1985 when the RR1000 was shown at the Great American Motorcycle shows. Inside scoop: At the first one of these shows in California that year, a group of Japanese from Honda took the poster of the RR1000 that was sitting on an easel next to the RR1000 late in the day after the show closed (and the one Buell person there, Erik, had left). Erik found out when he asked the guard, who said that this group had walked out with it, and he assumed it was theirs since they were exhibitor staff. The poster showed the bike with bodywork off and talked about the features, including putting the shock absorber and muffler underneath for mass centralization. Also, I flat guarantee that Buell is working harder on tri-axial mass optimization than anyone else, and is further along at it. Mass centralization is not the same as lowering the mass, as Steve pointed out earlier. | ||

Anony, I never stated nor claimed that Buell copied Honda. I merely mentioned that Buell did not invent the term nor the concept. And I gave praise that Buell is the one who is actually building the bikes & marketing them using the terminology. Gotta remember that even tho I do bitch about my bike...with good reason I may add...that overall I love the bikes. Seriously considering a new 12R for myself. If I thought Eriks ideas & all of the bikes were piles, do you think I would even be considering the bike? | ||

I suppose if you were on a short tight track and just wanted to add some cooling or distribute the load, but if you are looking for "more" braking buy an F-18 with triple arrestor chutes.  | ||

hey all, long time since i've posted. recently got off the phone with justin at nallin, my 1250 kit, with stage 2 thunderstorm heads and 536 cams are on their way to me!! i got my 2000 crank assy a few weeks ago. the "mistress" is hanging from the rafters of my dad's garage, nothing but frame and swingarm. both cylinders have many score marks at the front and rear, with corresponding marks on both piston skirts, i'll get some pics soon. doesn't seem to have any other probs, but i'll still swap in the new crank etc. i doubt she will be among the living before oktoberfast, but my boss may let me borrow his 'busa, let ya' know ferris. later all. drag those ears S.Lee(soontoride)Z. work ph 1-800-358-8280 x119 | ||

...front brakes on the M2; hello! it's not a coal train headin' down the gap, it's a sport bike with phenomenal braking capabilities! Having been aboard an M2 for thousands of mile, you'd be best served with springs, valve emulators and fresh oils from the builders of choice. PM makes a dandy dual caliper and cryo-iron disc set up if you really need to go that route... |
