Can someone post a link to the Makini (sp?) website? I swear my bike is running too rich since I had the dealer install a 42mm Flatside. Why do I suspect this, because my plugs have a somewhat moist looking black color on them. Also, since the mod, when I'm at a stop and blip the gas, the revs increase, then die down, then increase and rise to the top all within a second or two. It seems like the engine chokes or drowns before giving a nice quick roar. Does this make any sense? AND, is there an easy adjustment on this carb I can try before changing out jets? Thanks | ||

Fog: http://www.mikuni.com/fs-carburetor.html There is a "Tuning Guide" download on the site. The people at Mikuni have been great with returning phone calls for more anecdotal help. IMHO, the best tuning tool is a dyno - everything else has a "seat of the pants" calibration factor. My own personal experience with the HSR42 is that it needs regular adjusting to compensate for outside air temperature, and its adjustments are much more critical than those on a CV. The good news is that all the jetting/needling is relatively easy to access, and I get to practice re-setting the configuration 4 times a year at least. The bad news is that you may end up with two or three different setups depending on the season of the year and whether or not you are changing altitude. I suggest changing out the Phillips head screws on the top and bottom covers to Allen style fasteners - it makes the disassembly less problematic. Post your favorite Buellish pics below as follows: Use the "\image" command followed immediately (no spaces) by a short pic description enclosed in "{ }" curly braces; the pic description will only pop on screen when the mouse pointer is positioned over your pic. Example: \image{put brief text here to describe your pic} You can place the \image{ } command and thus your pic before, in-between, or after normal text as desired (if all you want to post is the pic, then no text is necessary other than the description within the "{ }" braces of the "\image{ }" command). Once you have previewed your message successfully with no errors (you will just see the "Your Picture Here" logo at this point) then go ahead and "save" your message. The BADWEB message board will then ask you for the pic file (jpeg or gif format) on your hard drive to upload to the BADWEB server. You can type in the path and filename manually or use the "Browse" option. You must have version 3+ of NetScape or version 4+ of MSIE to be able to upload. Additional information is available via the Formatting Information help page. BADWEB appreciates all efforts to minimize pic file sizes (<30KB recommended). | ||

Blackcat, I just copied and pasted it from another page  Li8ning, Last I heard from B-018. Use new bolts and new thick washers. Clean and dry threads in head. Engine oil on washers and back of bolt head. Loctite 271 on threads. Don't let oil and Loctite mix. Tighten bolts to 60ft/lbs. Loosen one full turn. Tighten bolts again to 60ft/lbs. José: You just know they are. The idea of actually "selling" something is foreign to a lot of HD people. Dyna: I like the looks of the V-Rod above. What's the story behind it? All: Can the foot pegs and controls be moved back a little on a V-Rod so that a short legged guy can reach the peddles more comfortably? | ||

Its a Euro componets bike. I believe it has a 250 rear tire also. They also make a line of parts for Buells as well. |
