A couple years ago I started a thread about a 'Sea to Shining Sea' trophy dash on the Sacborg. Since it would be illegal to have such a race we decided to keep it secret.

We were sucessful in keeping it a secret. In fact it was so secret we all forgot about it. Or at least I think we did, maybe we won but the results were so secret I didn't hear about it, and I was the organizer. Never let it be said we Borgers can't keep a secret!

Maybe its time to issue a real challenge. Are you BWB's ready to take on the Borgs in a Sea to Shining Sea trophy dash?

We'll keep the results a secret, of course.

>>> Sea to Shining Sea trophy dash?

I'd want no part of that.

I ride for FUN and have kinda been an outspoken critic of Michael Kneebone's sending motorcyclists with little or no sleep zooming about America at breakneck speeds. The bodies support my point.

I am still entertained by the folks who, when they read of my ride through 37 states, first question is "how fast did you do it?"

The 31 Days answer screws with their minds. Fast means little if you haven't even BEEN there.

I've gone fast. I LIKE to go fast. I've gone slow. I like to go slow. I loved being the first person to take a Buell Motorcycle to most of the fabled places in this country. Portland still stands out from all the trips there. I love it's bridges and the roses in the park. Alabama is neat at 2am too.

I also like stopping in the horse country around Orange, VA for 3 days to take in the local roads and shoot some golfs.

Call me a whimp, but when I get to the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Pacific Grove (I totally dig the Monarch Butterfly), Mt. Saint Helens, the or Carmel Valley Road at Sunset (I totally dig the Thai food in Carmel Valley and taking pictures of Dawn's horse' in the morning mist), I confess, I like to stop sit and bask in it all.

I suppose I should confess that I've never been 150mph. It may bother me someday, hasn't yet.

I'd get a kick outta watching a cross country "gun run" challenge. Heck, some good friends have held many of those records. I'd be interested in seeing if anyone on one of these new superblasters could come within 24 hours of Fran's coast-to-coast time on an ancient BMW. I submit skill plays a much greater role than power. Peter proved that in the 1997 Iron Butt.

Riding is for fun, racing is for...well, racetracks. I'm okay, but suck in comparison to most the folks I ride with.

Court, I have been a member of AARP for a couple years now and I have to say your attitude is nauseating.

Plenty of time to stop and smell the flowers when you're dottering. What you need is some pizzazz!

Tires sliding in the gravel, smoke from spinning back tires...

Girls tearing off their clothes and throwing themslves at the feet of the victors...

YOU should put in your app. for a nice quiet rest home. What I can't unerstand is the desire to slow down when you get old, there's less time available when you're old, you need to go FASTER!

No spunk. I guess the BADWEATHERBUNNIES won't be hosting a team in the Sea to Shining Sea Trophy Dash.

Instead of a trophy we could award you with a case of Geritol.

Count me in---I'll donate time, money, assistance, riding time, whatever it takes. And I guarantee my dealership would jump right in and help. And of course, all those lunatics at ASBN.
On that note, you got me thinking recently, while reading about the problems people here have with their dealers and how DAMN lucky I am to have the type of dealer I do.I was there last week for about 8 hours over 2 days fiddling and tuning on the turbo set-up on the S-2,working on my bike in their dealership, with about 2 1/2 hours of dyno time, all with smiles from everyone,--and no bill. How cool is that.My firehouse is closeby and we visit on a regular basis and everybody that works there, from the parts guys to all the H/D mechanics, all the service folks ,they are all friendly, polite and helpful.I get asked by several of the H/D mechanics about my turbo progress everytime I go through the service bays heading for the Buell mechanic's bay.The owner and his wife are super supporters of me.I shake my head everytime I read of the misadventures some folks here have, and thank my lucky stars.So-THANK YOU VALLEJO H/D BUELL!!!!!!I cannot say enough good things about them.

That'd be an accurate statement.

But, please keep us posted on the organizational developments as ATC or SacBORG organize and do this.

The gap twinxt talkin' and doin', as Badweb's TEAM ELVES highlighted, doesn't get crossed damn near as often as it should and I'm thinking this would be great fun to watch.

Go for it...keep me posted.

A race across the country would be,well, just stupid. Racing is for race tracks, get it? While I do break the speed limit from time to time(OK, quite bit) to really race on a public highway is, well, stupid.
Call me old(I am now) or whatever.
Snail, you need to get some more track days! Get it out of your system there. I know that works for me! I can't wait for next Thursday!!!
I liked the idea better last time when it was a relay across the country. Mikey had the best idea, every rider spitting in a mason jar and then at the east coast, throw the spit on Cecil!

Careful Mike's idea could make Dyna jealous. He'd want a jar of something too.

Did 137 miles lapping OHR yesterday. The race header and muffler seem to have made a slight improvement. I can no longer use WOT in 2nd gear, the front wheel tries to obscure my view. :D

I always thought the ASBN group just hung out and drank gif - you mean they ride too - have to check them out then - cargif be by sooner or later then. Why not a Gumball style rally then - anyway its all good - Court your the man - get on that xb and just fly in your usual fashion - should be good enough to embaress the rest and have the others killing themselves to do better (thus bettering the gene pool;0))

1 more thing since all of a sudden Dave hates racing & Court's afraid due to his advanced age. What about entering in the Silver state classic? I think thats the name of it. Mega speeds & relative safety.

I think it's a FABULOUS IDEA and that you should do it.

From my Lap of America to the Team Elves Land Speed Records, Badwebbers have had a habit of DOING, not just talking.

Carpe diem Bro!

Seize the moment and enter. It's an easy entry, there are no impediments, absolutely nothing in your way. I say go for it!

Where did you get that I hate racing? I just don't do it on the roads . I think that to race all the way across the country is, well I already said it, stupid. I'm headed to the track this coming Thursday, me, hate racing, where did that come from?
June 28th I'm even going to try dirt track racing! It's going to be a "Staff Blast Race" at the stock car track for MDA. Should be fun! I know, I know it's on a Blast not a XR750 but will still be fun.

Be carefull you guys, theres lots of ways to get hurt out there!

You remind me of one of my cousins whom I was alwyas trying to corrupt when we were kids, his response was typically, "My mother wouldn't want me to do that".

He ended up graduating with honors, flew Navy Jets, and now flys for United Airlines. His mother is very proud.

You guys make me sick. The whole world is a race track, but your mother wouldn't approve.

Sometimes in your well structured lives you just gotta say "**** it" and do something reckless. Its good for the spirt. Trust me, I know, I been doing reckless things all my life, and my spirit is healthy.

Excuse me now, please. I have to go vomit.

So, any way, Court I think that a good way through New England would be to get on Vermont Route 100 and go north to U.S. Route 2 then East to Maine and U.S. Route 1 South through Mass. and Rhode Island. Or maybe the opposite -That way you could pick up Rt.9 in Vermont and go west into New York. What do you think?

What level of risk is unacceptable?

You know that old pilot's saying... There are old pilots and bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots? I'd bet that the same goes for sport bikers. That said, I'd rather live boldy than to tiptoe through life only to arrive safe and sound at death's door.

Racing on the street however is more risk than I am willing to accept, just too many variables and unknowns. I think what Paul is suggesting though is more of a cross country endurance challenge, not like head to head racing.

But right now I still have this Dakar rally idea going on. That and my first actual sprint race is next Sunday.

Blake, ol buddy, how safe would it be to ride the Dakar? Starts in Paris France, they love us. Goes through nothern Africa, (Muslims).

And no, I wasn't thinking of an endurance thing, I was proposing a race. Illegal, dangerous, and stupid. All that, and more. Wild parties, strong drinks, potent drugs, and loose women.

An idea I could really sink my teeth into. But noooooo, my mother wouldn't want me to do that.

No, I'll just send in a donation to Team Elves and let them live for me. Meantime I'll just sit around and let the cholestrol clog up my arteries, maybe die of a massive coronary, but at least I won't be racing on the street, my mother wouldn't want me to do that.

Will the Sea to Shining Sea Trophy Dash actually take place? Thats a secret.

Me, I'm with Henrik. I backroads circle tour of America.

Street racing? Not for me. I don't mind it if you want to take the chance but taking out innocents is way beyond the limit.

You want to go street racing sign up for the Isle of Man TT. Those folks have bigger balls than street racer have every met.

Snail, It seems to me that all the Badwebbers who race on tracks take many risks every time they pull out of the pits.

That's really not the issue. When you race on the street you put innocent bystanders at risk. It's one thing to hurt yourself, we all accept that risk when we ride to some extent.

It's quite another if you're blasting along at supra-legal speeds and you inadvertently take out someone's child. Or Brother, Mother, etc.

Motorcycling in the USA has received some bad press lately and street racing is at the heart of the issue.

Moreover the Legal Liability involved for any business supporting street racing would be tremendous. This could easily apply to individuals as well.

Imagine "winning" the race only to be jailed (and/or sued and lose everything you have) because a fellow "competitor" had an accident and innocent bystanders perished. And the LEO's started investigating and wound up at your door. It could happen.

Personally I'd never forgive myself if my irresponsible behavior caused another person to lose their life.

And please don't start about my Mother. She passed away years ago. Yes, I miss her. Thanks for asking. But she's got nothing to do with whether or not I race.

Ride safe, Snail.
