Bluz,
Sorry, will have to add Dyna to the Hall of Shame for posting such a huge pic. I would resize, but it is not an uploaded image. It is an imagelink and the BBS will not let me ad new images to posts. Have you tried setting your display to a finer resolution? It surprises me how many people leave their computer screens set well below their peak resolution.

Dyna,
Consider yourself shamed!

Sorry guys. When I took it from the website it was only about half that size. I was kinda shocked how big it actually turned out. Good thing is we only need about 4-5 more posts & it will be on another page.

Just a follow-on to the REDLINE Supershock Heavy caper... I emailed Redline and here is my question with thier reply...

Quote:

To Whom It May Concern:

I had been using your Shockproof heavy (because it had been recommended by your organization for this application) in my 1998 Buell Thunderbolt (S3) for approx. 11000 mi with no problems In fact the bike seemed to shift better and seemed to run cooler. I recently traded that bike in on a 2003 Buell XB9S (Lightning) which has just gone over 1000Mi. I had one last Qt. of shockproof heavy left over from the 1998 Buell and used it for my 1000Mi service in the new bike. When I relayed the fact that I had done this on one of the Buell bullitenboards, I had several people respond that this was not recommended. Is this in fact true?.. And if not, why not, and what do you recommend in place of the supershock heavy?

Kevin Frey

Virginia Beach, Virginia

mailto:freyke@cox.net

In the Buell/Sportster transmission we now recommend the 75W90. The ShockProof Heavy has been used extensively with generally very good results. On rare occasions we have heard of the clutch dragging, not fully disengaging or sticking hence the reason for the 75W90 recommendation. If the clutch is behaving well with the ShockProof Heavy there shouldn't be a concern.

The new guy.

Just wanted to introduce myself to the community.
"boese" is my OH license plate.
As a native german I moved here in late august last year.
Purchased my X1 Carbon Fiber Extreme #58 of 250 in january, due to the weather I couldn't really drive it a lot yet. (was it really called that way ? who has info on that ?)
I t only has 1500 mls on it.
I had to get the buell cause it was the only bike, at 6'9" and 350lbs, that I didn't make look like a moped :-)

I would also like to use the opportunity to hear opinions on these modification plans, due to my size and preference following things have to go:

the stock handlebar - was thinking of replacing it with an LSL street bar aluminim unit ( 22mm dia ) and some Kellermann bar end blinkers;
the rear tail section - R&R discontinued their carbon piece because the form broke, so I am planning to TIG one up myself.
for as long as I do drive the stock rear tail section I was thinking about an ASB carbon undertray....

I have already talked to other buelligans and they state some of the other things that have to go right away, I would like to hear what you guys had to mod right away. ( as in shifter linkage or something )

rgds and I hope the weather doesn't suck as bad as it does in OH where you guys are at.

It means "bad" in Emglish I would guess.

Anyway, welcome to the US of A.

Imagine you're sitting on a sunny beach, contemplating a run up the mountains to the Rock Store...

This moment of serenity and anticipation has been brought to you by Southern California.

BTW, it snowed on Mt. Baldy last night.

Hope this brightens your day,

Hi guys and gals,

It's been a while since I was on the site, so I changed my user name, as I forgot my old one, and password. Court, and Mike J, should remember me, as I work for HD in Bellevue/Issaquah Washington.

I had a '00 Blast when they first came out, but have been riding street bikes since '79, and bought it to hop it up, which I never had time to do. Still was a fun bike, though lacking power.

I am about to plunge in on a XB9S Lightning, as It seems the right bike for me at this time, as I do not have the time off work to do any touring, so a Road King is out. I have the origganal Sportster style bike, a '55 KH, and am in the middle of tearing the engine out, for a long overdue 35000 mile lower end job. A bike with a 4 and 1/2 inch stroke don't last that long.

I am interested in finding out if anyone has had any major trouble with the XB9R or S, and if there is less reliable starting and warm up with the "Race Kit"?

I just took a Buell sponsored tech. and test ride semminare in the shop in Tigard OR. on Tuesday. Lots of fun, and very impressed with the Tech. that is rarely mentioned in the typical press on the new Buells. We got to go out on some very twisty country roads in the Sholes Ferry district close to Tigard.

They had a couple of Honda bikes for comparison, the 600f4 and 1000 Super Hawk. I do not race, so I like a bike that is pleasing to ride fast on regular roads, but is also easy to ride in town. Both the XB9's and the Honda Hawk were best at this, but I still prefer the Lightning as the best. The Honda worked well, but fit and finnish sucked. Lots of things to maintain, and comfort level was sub par.

Would like to know what if any problems you have seen with the XB9 series, as the Buell guys said they have seen very few. Mostly production snafu's. "I forgot to tighten that" kind of things.

Best Regards
Barry Mercer

Welcome back Berry. I bought my X1 at Eastside a few years back. Is Scott Moon still over there?

I don't own an XB, but the people I know who do aren't having any problems with theirs.

Hi Hootowl,

Scott is the Sales Manager there, and went to the Tigard seminare with me on Tuesday. We had a Blast on the bikes. He is a little hard to keep up with some times, as he has raced in the Northwest for over 25 years. The last few on Buell. They are setting up a XB9R for this year.

I would like to set up some rides out of the Issaquah shop, just casual stuff, for this summer. You interested? Probabley weekday evenings. All the HD guys seem to do is Tavern hop, and I just "work to ride ride to work", except for VME meetings.

Best Regards,
Barry

Hootowl,

Yah, my cousin moved there in the early seventies, and married a Harris County Sheriff Deputy. I always had fun going down there, even in the heat of the Summer. That was when I was a kid though, and spent the day in the pool.

Not many twisties around Houston, and you got to be careful not to end up in the wrong ward.

Have fun!

Farris,

Thanks for the welcome, Though I have been fallowing, your exploits for the last few years.

Your from my land! I can understand how you decided to move. It rains here a lot!

Had a great time, down in Oatman with your old cohert Joe, in Oct.... He may be a single nut, but he can out ride all most anyone I have ever met. Oatman is a great place to test your courage!

Glad you are still riding on the Buell side!

Best Regards,

Boese,
Your plans sound good to me. You won't go wrong with the CF parts from ASB. Welcome to America and welcome to BadWeatherBikers.com. It's too bad Telefix doesn't make a set of their Profi bars (high quality German adjustable clip-ons) that fit the inverted forks.

With your hugeness (dang man, you are scary big) you will want a custom suspension treatment. Check with Traxxion Dynamics (http://www.traxxion.com).
