You know, the happy face on my previous post came up all by itself - weird, but appropriate.

Question...Is there a website that has recall and service bulletin information for Harley Davidson Motorcycles like we have here on the BWB. If yes, please advise.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation regarding this matter.

Choptop,
The only woman with a record on a Harley?
There was a record set by a woman in A/PG 1350 at 142.+ in March of last year (I believe it was) at an ECTA event at Maxton. That was on a Buell.
Does that count?

I don't think Maxton records count. Don't know why, may be becasue the SCTA is recognized by the FIM and gets to recognize other organizations that can certify records.

Dave,
That seems odd since SCTA and ECTA time slips do reciprocate for the purposes of licensing.

Dave is correct; I was recently educated by Dale and Aaron on the subject (see KV Racing - LSR topic). Licensing reciprocation simply recognizes the proven qualifications of the driver/rider. Bonneville records are recognized as "world" records. Maxton records are not. Racing on salt is different (more difficult) than racing on asphalt.

Bonneville records are recognized as "world" records

To be absolutly correct I believe, and I could be wrong, the records set at Bonneville are National Class Records. Since no one else is really running these sort of events the are "World records" but to actually set a FIM international class record you need;

an authorised FIM person in attendance and a two way run with the return run with in an hour of the first run.

The World Finals event is set up to allow people to set International Class records if they want to. Some were set last year. Usually these records are attempted at the really high speeds but they offer a whole bunch of classes just like SCTA does.

Fireman Jim,

Go directly to the source on Derbi -

http://www.derbi.es - in Spain. They have an english website you can click on at the top.

I first learned about them at a Sears Point vintage days weekend, where I learned Derbi is a contraction for Derivation of Bicycle.

The company was founded in 1922 by Simeon Rabasa Singla as a bicycle repair shop. The shop soon expanded and Mr Simeon had to buy new bays to cover the production of bicycles.

They are now owned by Piaggo Group of Italy. - Vespa.

At Laguna Seca last year I got to sit on one that someone had purchased as a pit bike.

As far as fathers supporting their sons, how about this story - Angel Nieto won the first 50cc World Championshipin 1969 on a Derbi, and now his sons race on Aprilia 250 - Fonsi Nieto, and Angel Jr - on a Honda 125.

Congrats on a great little scoot with a lot of history.

Jim

FMJ, in the chicago land area there was a dealer for the derbi product, the urroma(???) i think was trying to get a series together, and hooked up with a dealer in the area, i will look once i get home, but i think a 75 is an over sized 50(the stock size) unless it come from over seas(at least thats what i was told but i am not sure) my guess is if they sell the bikes they could get you the parts, i would also call up a couple os scooter dealers in your area(thats generally who sells them here) and maybe they could help you out, its kinda funny, i just stooped in a local scooter only dealer here in chicago(i like anything with 2 wheels plus they sell coffe) and they had a carbon pipe, oversized cylinder/piston kit, and an A kit head for an aprilla(i think) its amazing what can be modified, and while i am typing, you may want to call scooter works in chicago on the north side, they can get any of the italian parts you need and are the bigest importers of used vespas in the midwest along with some weird car they bring over, worth a call and if you need some help just drop me a line, its not to far away, plus i want to see one of thoose wierd cars anyway

Thanks to all who responded. From what I have been able to piece together from the Derbi West Coast rep, this is a 75cc bike from factory, not a 50cc with a bigbore kit(seems there are a bunch of them) so parts are a bit harder to come by.He said a dealer in Penn brought a bunch over and sold them as 50cc with a big bore kit to get them in,perhaps??I also talked with the boys at Team Calamari who do wonders with YSR's(they knew our large friend,Choptop) and they have some stuff--working on more.So Pete, etal,if you can find me concrete info on the GPR-75 I would greatly appreciate it.Looking for source for gaskets, pistons, rings, and a manual would really be nice.
