Help! What sort of adhesive should I use to affix the little rubber bumper on my frame so that the forks don't ding the gas tank? I tried silicone adhesive... no dice. If you know or have a suggestion please let me know!

Please respond via email buell1pilot2002@wmconnect.com

I used weather stripping adhesive from AutoZone (3M I think) to finally get the rubber grip on my Nikon Coolpix 950 to stick again. Rough up the bonding surface with sandpaper. It looks like it did not work until it cures, then it seems to stick pretty well, though not perfect.

I have never seen Gorilla Snot for sale (that sounds funny... I am being serious) and have heard a lot of good things about it... are there any major chains around that carry it?

One second superglue: Not the gel but the most fluid kind: Make the surfaces thoroughly clean (trichlorethylene or cleansing alcohol) and breath once over the surfaces before you put a small drop in the middle and press firmly. Miracle breathing does the trick: The reaction seems to be catalized by smallest amount of water, normally in the air. For bigger surfaces and rapid fixation you can breath once over the surface.

There's an outdoor mounting tape that works really well, too. If the surfaces are clean...the stuff only lets go when you want it to!

NASCAR teams use the yellow (3M) stuff commonly refered to as "Gorilia Snot"

Bullers -- need you help

Buell with a sidecar

Have a disabled buddy who wants to go with me to the Rolling Thunder Rally in DC in May.

We want to add a sidecar to either the X1 or the S3T.

Anyone done it, seen it done, any ideas?

Thanks

Tom,
That's seriously decent of you. Really..
Sorry I can't help as I have only driven a side car a few times.
That's about the extent of my knowledge.

Keep us posted, this sounds like a very cool project.

You may want to hook up with Choptop (if he doesh't see it here, check over on sacborg.com)
He's done a couple of sidecar projects. One went "real fast", enough to get a Land speed Record!

Good luck, your obviously a very good buddy.

Stubby, I used superglue gel on a set of the rubber pieces the tank sits on. They are made to fit on the tubing but the adhesive backing needed a little help with the glue.
They keep my controls on crossroads bars from hitting the tank.

There have been several Buells with attached sidecars that have had their pics posted here and elsewhere. It can be done, but may not be so easy.

Buellskinner,

Did a Search for 'sidecar' here, but didn't find what I was looking for. Did scour the disk and found this:
 Buell sidecar
For some reason, I think it's Chinese, but hopefully someone will recognize it.

FMJH, you suck! I've been watching it snow all day. Upside is, it's gorgeous out. Drop me a note about the S-2 part you needed, basement cleaning has yeilded them. I need to know if you need one or two.

Court,
While you were cleaning out the basement did you happen to find any others sets of S2 carbon fiber bodywork? It would be so cool to have a matching S2 to go along with my CF X1!! ;)

DETROIT (Reuters) - The Detroit auto show has seen a lot of concept cars over the decades, but a four-wheel motorcycle powered by a 500-horsepower V-10 engine is a first

And it may turn out to be more than a concept.

DaimlerChrysler AG's (NYSE: DCX - news) (DCXGn.DE) Chrysler arm on Monday unveiled the Dodge Tomahawk -- essentially the 8.3 liter engine from a Dodge Viper mated to a motorcycle frame. Chrysler executives said while the chrome-draped Tomahawk was outlandish, they were seriously considering whether to build a few hundred at a price of at least $250,000 each.

"This is for people who are passionate about engines," said Chrysler Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang Bernhard, who rode the Tomahawk on stage during a media preview. "A motorcycle is the most beautiful way to showcase an engine."

The 1,500-pound Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of 300 mph. Each pair of wheels is separated by a few inches and each wheel has an independent suspension. Bernhard said four wheels were necessary to handle the power from the engine.

Chrysler executives said if the Tomahawk were put into production, it would draw attention to the Dodge brand in ways no ordinary sports car could. Bernhard said a decision on whether to build the Tomahawk could be made in several months.

BTW ... whoever thinks a person could actually go 300mph on that thing knows nothing about going 300mph.

First off, 500hp ain't NEARLY enough.

Second, you couldn't stay on it.

Third, it ain't got enough tire bite to offset it's brick wall aerodynamics.

I think "theoretical" is the key word there. My bike has a "theoretical" top speed of 160.
