Oh Wow... I should have checked your profile when we last traded pm's. You hadn't mentioned this one before! This would have been ripe for a partial trade against the HP2 Sport. Good luck with the sale.

Scott, yes we should have talked further..

Dennis, I rode a bike like yours to my wedding, thats why I bought the black one. Totally opposite, divorce bike.

But, I DO have a matching triple white S2 that would look great in your garage!!!

I love looking at that red RS1200 . . . man does that bring back a LOT of memories of riding one all over when no one had even heard of Buell.

Built about 4 months before I started at Buell as a co-op student.

1991 was a good year (brings back memories)!

Good price, less than I paid for mine. : (

I notice it has the optional(Dan said) snap below the keys to snap the leather key holder down.
My 91 RS came with that too, neat touch.
Wish I had the build sheet....

I cannot confirm or deny why the stickers are white.
As we all know stranger things have happened in the barn.
Thanks for the reminder, yes the uber rare keychain is included.

The build sheets, of that era, were all paper. I've sent a lot out and some scans stashed away. They, like many of the paper files, are getting pretty scarce.

Some of you, the "Vintage Buell" folks, will be pleased to know there are active efforts underway to safely get as much of this stuff archived where it will be protected for years to come.

There are 4 or 5 major places where it resides now and . . . . at least in my case . . . I know my kids have zero interest in any of my cases and cases of stuff that interests me . . . be it vintage Buells, MG, Cushman . . . I have one taker for the guitar collection. They tease me about leaving each of them a pack of matches in my Will.

I'm confident, after a call last week, that we're going to get all the old Buell stuff protected.

That is admirable. I know similar efforts went in to Norton's; but probably too late.

My former boss and a former coworker were Buell employees. My boss had a signed build sheet from the last bike off of the line. I think by then, they were computerized and you could get multiple copies.

I know I would love to have one for my S3.

Dan:

I sent your Build Sheet.

I'd LOVE that S1W if I were about 10 years younger ! . . . that's a PERFECT example of a properly sorted out S1W.

Court,
You don't need to be 10 years younger to dust off another bike..

From what I hear, you have PLENTY of space in that dining room!!!

Hm...so Court, did the build sheets exist for the '95 S2's? We need to talk "old stuff" anyway sometime...along with "studio stuff" : )

Glad you got it sold. Means I don't have to sell something to try and buy it!

Citizen shipper is a pretty good alternative to uship. I found a guy out of Illinois to make a run south for me last week thru citizen shipper. His name is Jeff Cress, (217) 740-7692, rough around the edges but super budget lol. I'm not sure he has enclosed transport though?

I love looking at that motorcycle.

That was my "daily driver" for a couple years in the early 90's. I used to take off every Thursday to deliver paychecks to construction sites around Northeast Kansas. It was my wheels to the grocery store from time to time. It never got old.

If you haven't ridden one . . . it'll be a treat. I suggest, as I have for nearly 30 years, that before you do . . . you pull up a milk crate, have a seat and study the bike you're going to be interacting with. It's the polar opposite of an S1 Lightning.

The RS1200 and S1 share identical geometry but part of Erik's genius as moving the rider about the bike to evoke what he wanted and needed.

I've always used the example of a plumb bob hanging out of your ass . . . . a wonderfully graphic example . . . on the S1 the plumb bob would hang at about the base of the rear cylinder . . . roughly the center of mass and the very place where it requires the least possible force to be displaced when coaxed.

The RS1200, on the other hand, would have your plumb bob hitting the rear axle . . . well aft of the CG datum thus providing a more stable ride that requires the rider, to received the benefits and rewards, to think ahead of the bike a bit. You can nearly "think" the RS1200 around.

Plan your lines . . .consciously think of softening the force of your hands on the bars and savor the experience. The RS1200 is in terms of riding joy, the S2 on steroids.

I'll be eager to hear your impression.

Court

P.S. - Don't forget the milk crate . . your 10 minutes will be rewarded.
