I plan to switch to synthetic on next maintenance cycle.
Swampy recommended "Castrol 20W-50 full synthetic in both the engine and transmission"
I am aware of the venting hoses, but have not traced them or tried to figure out what goes to what. The two that I am aware of are slipped up the left side of the frame through where the Y frame bolts and up under the seat (still in the frame). One it thicker, one is thinner. When I bought it, the thinner one was dangling down by the foot peg. I recently snaked it up through the frame with the other larger one.
I planned to investigate which vented what and if these were the right places for them to rest, but if you know and feel like telling me, that'd be great. |

If the thinner one looks like it's small enough to go inside the other, that's the fuel tank hose. Look at your gas cap, and you'll see a hose leaving just in front of it. That's the hose. The other vent hose goes right off the top of your head and has a Y at the carburetor. |

Yeah, the thinner one is that small. Is it OK they snake up through the frame into the tail of the bike? Or are they supposed to be somewhere else? |

Robi, on my new '07 that gas vent hose runs along the oil tank drain and vent hoses and is actually tucked inside the "Y" frame where is runs down the inside of the left side passenger peg support. Hope it helps.  |

I've only had my blast for 4 months and have put around 1500 miles on it around where I live. I only started looking at mpg's two months ago, and I was surprised. I had heard of people only getting 50 or so, but according to my calculations, I am getting better than 65. One time, (I'm not sure of the exact numbers) I went 120 miles or so before I filled up, and when I did, I only put in 1.7 gallons. I'm 6ft tall and weigh 165lbs. Most of my driving is around 45-50 mph, on mildly hilly roads, with some stretches of highway at 65-70mph. I have the Pro-Series intake with the K&N filter and Pro-series exhaust. |

5'11", over 200, got about the same for a while. Then I got into the habit of WOT. |

I have a 2005 stock Blast with under 1000 miles on it so it has not yet had its first service or oil change. Bought it from a lady that laid it down and then let it sit in her garage for 3 years with 200 miles on it. Gas mileage is running at 50 mpg approximately. But that includes my commute to work everyday where I never get out of 3rd and spend a lot of time in 1st and 2nd between stop signs. |

Some of you may be familiar with my Uly MPG Database used to store and compare Uly fuel economy stats.
