I really like how your bike looks Southernmarine. I was wondering what kind of paint you used to put the pinstripe on there. I am considering adding some sort of pinstriping to my bike too and don't want to screw up and have something peel or chip off. I also really like those bars you put on there. I don't want to copy your bike but damn!, I'd really enjoy if I could lean a bit more forward on my bike. Did you have to drill any holes in them? are they comfortable to ride with? My bike is yellow, an '01, and has V&H exhaust so it wouldn't copy that much :-)

Thanks, the stripe is actually not paint. I got it from edecals.com. I called them and told them I wanted a custom 2" wide stripe. I should have got the reflective stripe, damn, oh well. The color is silver metallic, matches the bike. As for the handlebars, azmotorsports.com , bikemaster "H", cheap. Yes I did have to drill holes, 1/4" holes I think about 6 3/8" in. Drilling there allowed me to put the barend mirrors on and not cut the grip, at least on the throttle side. I didn't drill as far in on the clutch side and well, had to trim just a little bit. I'm hoping to upgrade to the 9S eventually, in the mean time I'm looking at other mods I can do to my bike. I'm looking at which exhaust and breather to switch to. Speaking of that, EZ what kind of breather do you have on yours, It looks like it won't interfere with my knee. I'm also considering putting the 515cc big bore kit on, especially if I can't upgrade to the 9S. I might even have to give in and order a new seat. Wouldn't mind something a little wider.

Hey Ed,
For the life of me I can't get the full size image of yours to show up. The biggest one I get is the same size as the one you posted here. And I can only make out two little nubs in the photo here. Clicking on the image in the Yahoo group doesn't go anywhere for me. Help!

I'm running a stack with a filter sock (.005" filtration) and I bag it with a ziplock when parked;0) - baged and gaged - lol -

My bikes webpage will lead you to a folder of a bunch of different pic.s(most of which go full size - you should be able to spot this pic there and see it fully) of her transformation and the webpage itself will tell the list of mod.s made, and you can find a complete list of vendors for all cool blast things including this great sites great vendors ;0) at the yahoo Blast group - mild to wild section in links. Finally if that doesn't work - you can still see fullsized pics in the sfbrag informal group I started just a bit ago - join for a few sec.s and check out the BlastVader pic folder

Southernmarine-Did you search this site for the info. on exhaust? If you go w/the BUB exhaust EZ can give the jet sizes to buy.(believes BUB pipe is best)He's done a lot of exhaustive research! What breather(if you mean crankcase breather?)you use wont make too much of a difference (there is also research on this site for breathers!).Anyway, there is a heckova lot of tech info on this site! Also see the Yahoo Buell Blast site.Yeh and sometimes there is a fine line between hopping up a Blast and trying to turn it into an XB9S. The answer is out there!! GearheadErikO

I believe the Bub is the best for torque - it depends on how far you want to go for power. The usual pipe and aircleaner swap w/ mod.s to the air box. don't forget to rejet (puts you close to the ablity of a stack - impressive to me) - Most hp would be the Nallinized Force pipe, then the White Bro, then the Kirker & D&D,S&S & Buell Factory hi-po, then the Bub - the Torque values reverse the order with the exceptions being that the Force pipe almost equall to bub - in torque with the WB a close second. I also liked the Bub because it will be easy to modify - replacing the can when it goes - for the Suppertrapp 3" universal w/17 to 21 disc.s. Then theres the cam - the easiest/ read safest/way to power would be to upgrade to all the stuff the Factory offers for close to 40hp and simular torque rear wheel and enjoy(w/warrentee;0)) - and then there's Nallin - they are just too sweet - their toys should be a sin - lol - I know I'm happy! - There's always something - lol Got thump?! I've looked through all the posts and just wanted to get an updated opinion on which exhaust would be best. I'm just planning things out well ahead of time. I'm enjoying the Blast right now and might try to upgrade to the 9S next year, but then again, lately, I've been thinking about just keeping the Blast and upgrading the power on it, increasing the HP, seeing what I can do to it. I've never really worked on bikes before and I see this as an opportunity to learn. I've got 4 boys and I'm sure one of them wouldn't mind me passing the Blast on to them when they get older. I've looked at what Nallin has to offer and I like what I see. I've got time and I'll use that to figure out which way to go. Another decision I need to figure out is which bore kit I would want to use, the 515 or 600. What are your opinions on these.

Life forced my hand so I went with convieniance - the 515ccbecause it is just a bolt in and and I did'nt want long down time(still took a month) But if life had went the way I wanted for the bike it would have been the 600cc - so now I've rescedualed the next rebuild and by then we can hopefully talk Nallin into releasing the 720cc kit - lol - my 2 cents - Got thump?! If your new to working on bikes (and doing the work yourself)I'd stick with the 515 kit. With the 600 you'll have to split the engine cases and that can be overwhelming.Unless you already have a lot of miles on your bike, save the 600 for when you need a rebuild!Anyway thats MY 2 cents.Have fun!!

Robert,

The big answer is to let the motor "breath" better. Intake and exhaust are the cheap answer as the stock setup is very restrictive. Not to mention the added tonage of the stock "boat anchor". I started with the Kerker, but because of the cams that I'm running have changed to the Bub. Intake can be taken care of in several ways including my modification that costs about $65-75 (and several hours of TLC. Jetting is a must for better performance especially if you let the motor breath.

The next steps start the real expense but are too much fun to ignore. Cams, ignition module and NALLINIZATION. Brian Nallin & Aaron Wilson of Nallin Racing Heads just flat rock, not to mention the sweetest telephone voice you will ever hear (Susan).

From there you can go with Crossroads or Banke rearsets (I like the Banke). And other cosmetic and comfort mods that are limited only by your imagination and wallet.

Just have fun, that's what its all about,

Ray

Yes I do have them installed, but currently can't provide pictures for reasons that I will explain at a latter date. The link provided are fairly good representations. I bought mine from Tat at ASB who happens to be a sponsor of this site along with having excellent service.

I found some pics that I forgot that I had taken. These are from the FSSNOC winter Rally at Lindsborg, KS back in February. For those that aren't aware of the organization its full name is Four Stroke Single National Owners Club which was originated and currently based out of Hutchinson, KS. By their name their reason for being is the love of thumpers. I attended this rally which was a great deal of fun.

This first pic is of a KR H-D that I had the pleasure of watching run in the early to mid seventies. The rider of this bike was one of my early heros by the name of Stan Engall.

Nice KR Close-up

Stan's Kansas Number was #1, The 46 was his national number.

KR in its glory

This next pic is of a nice "Sprint" or Italian H-D Single. It was a simular bike to this that started my love affair with singles.

Sprint

A very nice if not somewhat abused 1938 H-D single.

1938 Single

A few pics of my beloved Blasterd, in Bonneville trim sans fairing. I was very proud that I won best in show for modern bikes with her. Not the best pics to see detail on the Banke rearsets, but I will say that James Banke is quite a craftsman. I had to nothing to them they fit just as he advertised.

Blasterd

The riders are my evil twin and his girlfriend.

From the other side

from the back

This may explain for some of you my screen name. Sorry about the long post.

This is too much fun!!!!

Okay, I've been playing around with Photoshop Again. Here is a concept for a Blast, imagine it with a 515 or even a 600 kit. Hey Buell, hint, hint.

Thats off the hook! The crossroads really keep it lean! I saved it 10 times! Go for it - definately doable - however - unless you get your hands on a Force proto-type for the Blast - it will be at an angle as in Meriman's Blast

Well everyone, Its been fun but I am headed north Saturday to pick-up the M2 that I just bought, I still have the Blast but it is about to go up for sale. My 5'11" 225 body just couldn't deal with the size of the little booger anymore, it was fun to ride though.

Ken - I'd hang on to the Blast - a back up bike would be very usefull;0) - I'm the same size as you and I find the bike comfy - but then I like my bikes compact and lite of weight and tailored to fit me like a glove -

Wow guys, dunno if ya'll remember me or not, but it's been a looong time. To put things into perspective, I was around when the V&H pipe was the only aftermarket exhaust for our bikes.

Anywho, my 2001 has been idle for quite some time, apartment living with no bike storage will do that for 2 or so years. Riding weather is fast-approaching, and I'm anxious to break her out of storage (after tune up, of course). Here's the deal: I'm to the point now where the stock performance, sans V&H pipe, is rather dull. I've been eyeing the Nallin 515cc bolt on kit -not sure which one yet- and Banke's rearsets. Anyone have any ideas?

P.S. I think I remember when EZ's Vader was merely an idea. Heh. Good to be back.

Hey welcome back! Yup - planed that bike down to the last chrome skull while I was unemployed and then bought 1 part each month and she slowly turned into the heavy breathing BlastVader she is today! Me and a guy named Joe on an XB9S Rep.ed for Buell today on a close to 300 bike ride in suport of the people in the armed forces. Haven't seen that many bikes together at once since living in Daytona! Off the Hook! A short ride really but I got to meet all the local area riders and store away some more great memories - all thanks to my humble litle roaring Blast;0) too fun! Got Thump?!
