Hey EZ,

Do the products match up to the aftermarket?
Does anyone know what it does to our WARRANTY?
Thanks

I just finished rejetting and backing out the air screw. The parts guy sold me a washer that fits on the needle and holds is up a bit. He said that their techs install it on every rejet job. I don't want to put back on the airbox. Does anyone know if the forcewinder intake system will fit on the Blast or of any other similar aftermarket system is a direct bolt-on. It's ridable weather here and I am raring to go. Thanks, Jim.

Well I did it. The pressure was too much. Buell putting out a good looking pipe (and cams that don’t void the warranty VERIFIED) for the blast and the excellent 10% Local BRAG chapter discount at Harley Davidson of Annapolis. Now I have to just wait for my favorite brown truck to arrive at the dealer. Can’t wait to give the ride report. If everything goes as well as expected I be installing the cams as well.

Based on a post Aaron made some time back I think the new Blast cam is an Andrews B50.

Andrews B50:
int timing: 16/32 (228 degrees) .498 lift .163 TDC lift
exh timing: 43/15 (238 degrees) .498 lift .146 TDC lift

Buell® Pro-Series Blast® Cam Kit
int timing: 16/32 16° BTDC/32° ABDC(228 degrees) .498 lift .163 TDC lift

exh timing: 45° BBDC/15° ATDC (238 degrees) .498 lift .146 TDC lift

The olny difference I see is 43 vrs 45 in the exhaust category. Cam any one explain what that difference does?

45/15 exhaust timing is 240 degrees of duration (45 + 180 + 15). I guarantee you the 45 is a misprint and they meant to say 43.

Even if it weren't correct, advancing the exhaust open event 2 degrees wouldn't even show up on the dyno.

That's an awfully mild grind any way you look at it. But, there's not a hell of a lot you can do without changing springs.

Aaron,

You said that’s a mild grind and since I'm lost when it comes to cams. What increase do you think this cam will provide. Do you have any suggestions for a different cam or setup? I would like to have a Nallin kit but its not in the budget yet.

Thanks
Josh

I haven't tried those cams, so I can't comment on how the bike responds to it, I'm just saying that looking at the numbers, it's very narrow, even for a 3-1/8" stroke engine.

Really, the problem is that the stock compression ratio is too low to support anything broader than that, and of course the stock springs won't support anything taller than that.

We've got cams that work great in a Blast but they need 10:1 minimum and also need .550 lift springs.

Hi all - Please see the Dealer section for the tale of picking up my bike and the Tale section
for a little Bad Weather adventure - lol - I'm running that cam probably have a dyno in about March - matter of time;0) God - her sound is awesome, and the power difference is very enjoyable. A few other things were done - to be revealed at dyno - as is proper;0).I got some edges to scrub off due to the long freeway miles. Note to self have fresh set of tires waiting for mounting at East Troy. Bless Buell, Nallin, and Hall's in Chico for a really superior job well done! Just Blasting on the Dark Side! EZ

Is it just me?

I recently got a more free-flowing exhaust. Now I find I'm wasting gas. Just this morning, I go through the toll booth, and instead of just easing on out, I went WOT just to hear the sound of my new exhaust! Seems I do that whenever going under bridges, too. Monday, I was heading home, and realized I was doing it for cars passing the other way. Seems the echo from passing vehicles makes me want to do it more. This morning, I was between two trucks at a stoplight. When the light turned green, my Blast! sounded an awful lot like a V-twin.

Note on engine troubles: This morning, I couldn't seem to go more than 35 MPH. I grabbed a bottle of STP gas treatment, and it's been running better than it has in a long time. It even idles more smoothly than it has for a while.

Anyone ever consider altering the Blast's primary drive ratio? Does anyone have any comment on existing part compatibility (XL / XB motors or ...)?

Saro, I've considered altering the primary drive, I think that the blast has the same primary ratio as the tube-frame bikes 1.6:1... components?

The Firebolt has a ratio of 1.68:1, and I don't see a benefit of slowing down the tranny with respect to the engine rpm.

Comparing the two ratios the Firebolt would have less wheel speed for a given engine rpm compared to the Blast (with a 1:1 tranny ratio, 5th gear).
I think that I'd want to change the ratio to 1.55:1.

How would one go about doing that - hmm? Update on Ole BlastVader. She rev's beautifully - and I haven't touched the limiter - yet. The engine's song is strong, sure, and loud! The sweeps get me really low now and the torque out of them just sweet in execution. The carb work done shows in the response - and the motor's ability to accept quick changes in transition has never been stronger(dodging cages;0)). Going to do the lights and intake this weekend thru thur. Will post some pic.s of the intake mounting and the bike in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the help and suport and putting up with the bull. God she's sweet now - can't wait to take her to East Troy and meet all of you (that is all who can make it). Will need extra padding for the seat(only sore area after 600+ mi ride;0)) and arrange to have a set of tires waiting at Hall's - lol - Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

I posted a bunch of Blast parts for sale in the Parts section. I converted to inverted forks and standard Buell rear wheels, so anything that I took off of the stock Blast is up for sale. I didn't list all of the small pieces, but if you are looking for something, let me know.

Jeff - I've been looking closely at the new Banke set up. Cressent moon 1/8" with spacers mounted to engine ala Banke/Crossroads style just to hold the foot peg on each side and use the xb shifter and brake set up. Should work (at least thats what it looks like Banke did) should/would save some money from buying them retail. Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

Make a cressent moon with 3/16", bolt a footpeg to that, using
spacers and longer bolts bolt to case ala Banke/Crossroads and bolt
on xb brake and shifter assemblies. Looks like what Banke did, bet
you could save yourself some money doing the same thing. Just

Chaser,
I have all sorts of handle bars for sale. Stock Blast, stock X1 (they just about perfect for all around Blasting), Pro-Flow clip ons ($80)(a little aggressive, but you can live with them). I would still be running the clip ons, but I switched to the S1 front end and put new 54mm clip ons on the bike.

Cool news,
The Buell performance muffler for the blast! is a stepped header design that splits into two outlets with a muffler exiting each side. Imagine the guy from Force getting together with the guys from D&D and building a system. I'm hoping to get this thing on a bike soon to see how well it works.
I don't know if the preceding was old news or not, but this is the first time I've had a chance to play with it. Yeah, I know I'm easily excited...
