Xgecko: how do the Avon's handle in the twisties compared to the Pirelli's? Better in the rain? Yeah, I'm looking for another update from you. Thanks!

I like the rumor of a 600cc Blast w/ fuel injection. That would be another testbed for a 1200 Firebolt later on.

well I'm gonna steam clean mine in the near future. Prof once the Avons get up to temp the handle just as well as the Pireli's they just take a bit longer to come up to temp. As for rain I have only yesterday to compare to but they handled quite well. VERY deep grooves. The Front tire is of a different pattern that has a lot more cuts. they seem to handle rain better than I expected I had no slips yesterday and I usually have something in the rain.

So, where can I get Avon tyres for cheap? So far, the best price I could find is $86 delivered, but not mounted.

Thank you oh god's of puter land ;0) My first old dyno sheet from totally stock has me down 3hp
and 12ft-lb from this - so this is an improvement. the top two bars represent the second dyno's graph readings that they overlayed on top of the tech. dyno graph. Origional hp being 25/20 and ft-bs being 16/13. Thats from over a year ago using the same equipment. Well guys and wise overseeers there she is(this is all at the wheel, not the crank as HD) - what do you think?Blasting on the dark side ! EZ

Ez, I forget, have you modified your intake at all? Your profile didn't mention anything about it.. I'd also love to see a picture of your bike with the alien lights and fairing.

That's a nice lookin dyno too, now for the expensive upgrades =).

EZ,

That's an eddy current test plot. Cool.

You have Nallin heads and the 515 big bore kit?

I'd think you would be doing better than 27.5 RWHP.

Your plot says "Modified Curve" for the ignition description. Please elaborate.

What is static timing?

Do you have the exhaust gas analysis for your 28 RWHP run?

From looking at the exhaust gas analysis results from your baseline run, it looks possibly like you might benefit from a bigger main jet or at least some shimming of your needle. The high O2 and low HC (hydrocarbon) readings starting at 3500 rpm would seem to indicate a lean condition. The HC's come back up as the engine revs past 4500.

Did they try to optimize your timing and jetting, or did they just run it to determine existing performance?

Well, I traded my Ducati Monster 750 on a new 2003 Blast (yellow). I got my first 50 miles on it today. Now I can drive 55 - wahoo! Other than going thru severe horesepower deprivation, I am starting to like the lil' bugger. My one complaint is the seat. I'm 6 foot and maybe 180 pounds, but the high seat is just too soft. Professor Stack has suggested a gel insert. It sounds a lot like breast augmentation - my wife won't appreciate that. Seriously, any other suggestions? The Corbin is an inch lower than stock. I do not need to go down, I would not mind an extra inch (no comments!).

Alan I am 6' 180 and I spent almost 2 years with that godforsaken POS stock seat before I switched to a Corbin (call ASB if you want one the factory takes too long to even call back) I actually sit a bit higher on the Corbin seat because the foam is stiffer than the Stock seat.

Xgecko - I rigged up something exactly like that a few days ago, now I just need to get a big pack of zipties...

Ona completely unrelated note, I drove (not rode) down Wisconsin Highway 35 (number 6 on the "best twisties" list on the Buell website) today on the way to my girlfriends house. I spent the whole drive wishing I had my bike, that road is pretty much the perfect combination of fast and twisty. I'm gonna have to come down here next wekend (WITH THE BIKE!).

Hey everybody- I have been reading this site for a while and just got a Blast (its been 690 miles and three weeks). I've been trying to piece together where all the cool aftermarket stuff is, it seems pretty spread out. Is there a
place I can look for stuff?

Dansherman - give me another mo. for a pic,- I hollowed out the the intake to the second ring, did the old cross-drilling on the filter(k&n),pointed the eng. breather away and down from the carb.(oposite from factory)the sound echo from this is awesome,it makes me loath to switch it out for the Force unit I'm modifying. I jetted 45/175(Blake - should I shim it up or down?) using the Direct Hits(tight fit-but it fits) non-resist plug, capacitor, and wire(and plenty of electro gel)using the static/stock timing(should I try adjusting this at all for more power?) and primary coil- this system took care of any richness I would normally have, leaving only a slight richness at the very top. The Bub pipe finished my choice(torque over power-for now) The big bore is about a year down the road and I'm still thinking 720(square motors - got to love them). I did'nt look for raising power dramaticly because(blush) I feel I still have'nt wrung the bike out, but the torque needed help - asap. After being helped with finding the correct exhaust outlet size to be 1 and 3/4 inches - that left the Bub and the Force for the freest breathing Exhaust(both loud as shit;0))(thank you Aaron). sorry - no exhaust gas readings, did'nt think to ask for one though he must have been monitoring them because he commented on that topic. Dolt!(blushing again). From my perspective accelleration is vasty improved(going to have to practice speed shifting), now to work some more on her looks(although the quicksilver carb does becons). Thanks guys for the suport - could'nt have done it without all of ya. Blasting on the dark side! EZ

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a short while, got a new Blast (810 miles) and have been reading the posts about alternative tires. Avon tires have been mentioned and I missed the model numbers. Anyone know what they are? Thanks!

Ralph-

I'll BUY the low seat. Loli needs it for my Blast. As far as my tall seat goes, I don't really want to give up riding the Blast.

If she'd like to sell the low seat I'm game. She wouldn't want mine, anyway. It's a bit worn at the edges... Lemme know.
