I bought my CR a couple of months ago. Got a good deal, but still paid WAY more than they are selling for now.

That being said, I'm not upset about it. I got a great bike at a fair price. Nothing at all wrong with that. It's worth every penny.

Price changes affect all Buell owners: I've got an '04 XB (and it's satisfying to say so), purchased used over a year ago.
YIKES! I coulda' had a white 1125R!

96 S1
98 S1
99 S3

06 XB12X
08 1125R
I might feel a little better if I can get a new Uly for 5K

I stopped at the HD shop in Bellevue WA today they have a CR, a couple of Ulys, a Lightning, and a couple of other Buells. The guy I talked to said there were no deals, they were going for MSRP. I'd have written a check for 6K on the spot if I could have gotten a CR for that. Typical dickhead HD sales guy. "Erik built what he wanted to build, not what people wanted to buy." I felt like punching the son of a bitch....

I am proud to say I paid retail...I bought the bike because it was worth it...not because it was a deal. Great Falls MT has cut their prices in half and have a CR I heard today. Go get er!

When I bought my XT, I paid full price. It was worth every cent. Some people are getting smoking deals on bikes now, but I don't regret for one second paying what I did for my XT.
I've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years. Every time I got a new bike that I really liked, somebody would come along and tell me I could have gotten a better deal somewhere else.
In the end, purchase price doesn't matter; It's how much you like the bike.

I also paid full MSRP on my 1125r, but I was one of the first people to get on in the Chicago area. I did go through some early development pains, but now the bike runs very well. I thought I was getting a good deal compared to the other bikes on the market when I bought the 1125r, so I can't really look back with any regrets.

We have purchased (2) S3Ts in the last 18 months for ABOUT the same price as what the new 1125Rs are going for. We don't feel cheated, but I understand a bit of where you are coming from-BMW does this to their customers every year in the Fall. We don't buy BMWs anymore.

On point, the value is in the experience. Now, a lot of companies have glommed onto the "experience" as part of their PR campaigns and will actually ask you about it in surveys. I have lost track of the number of riders we have heard describe their Buell experience as this; "I'm xx y.o. and have been riding for over 20/30/40 years. These Buell machines are what I've been looking for all along!". This is a motorcycle experience of a lifetime for my wife and I, too. What's the cost of that admission? Together she and I have over 300,000 road miles, probably 10,000 racing miles, and a combined 40 years of riding experience, but we made it to East Troy Factory finally. There are many ways to measure the cost of any tangible. Does that help any?

"Erik built what he wanted to build, not what people wanted to buy."

...or what Harley dealers wanted to sell.

I paid MSRP for a 09 Lightning XB12scg on Sept 4th 2009. Although I love the bike I do have the feeling of being ripped off. As of right now I owe more then its worth.

I am thankful that I have my 06 Uly. Actually looked at a couple discounted 09's but they were gone before I could get down to the dealer. Augusta HD still has a couple 1125r's, 1 1125cd, and a few lightnings. They are heavily discounted. Sure will miss seeing these machines in the dealerships.

"Miss seeing them at the dealer"
Not me. I don't go there. What for? That is why Buells belong in the independent dealer world. Harley could swallow it and put them there next year. Hope they do. Sell well. }

I paid a little less than msrp for my 11-quad and I don't regret a single penny, I even had to roll a loan upside down to get it.

It's one thing to desire a new model, but another to know thats the only model you will ever desire new.

I have ran the piss out of my previous Buells, but not this one. Now that the company has had a large deflection in its plans, this "sex on wheels" motivates my frame of mind to possess it for my future children to enjoy and know that this was the country's first liquid cooled pavement peeler which took on the big four at their own game.

Sorry for the rant. I just came off a long 12-hr night shift and had a lot of reflection through the night.

Just because you paid full price then, and not half msrp now, doesn't mean you got ripped off.

I'm paying full MSRP since 2007. I'm on the 6 year plan, meaning my XB12R will cost me $18k when I am finished. It is easy for me to find $260 per month, good month or bad. I did the same with my 99 sportster. When I got the bill down to $2k, I found the rest of the money and paid it off. The XB12R is my dream bike and I have no regrets. You see, money is only money, but my Buell is exactly what I wanted.

I paid MSRP, or pretty darn close to that for my Uly in 07. I have never thought twice about the price.

"As of right now I owe more then its worth."
Heck there aren't too many things I have owned that weren't worth less than I owed at some point, my house being the best example at this point. Neither my bike nor my house is an investment so I don't let it bother me.

I paid MSRP on my wife's '09 Blast 7/08, and for my '09 XB9SX 2/09. No regrets. I hope to be able to buy more someday.

HD and HD credit should realize the there are some of us that don't mind spending premium dollars for premium products. Financing an $11K motorcycle for 6 years with no down payment--equating in $18K total price--should be an incentive to some bean counters...

I paid full list for my '97 M2 in 08/97,two years later the same bike with Thunder storm heads, largertank, larger seat ETC.was about $900.00 lower. That was a little irritating, more bike less money! When I found out in Sept. that the local dealer was dropping the Buell line I tried to buy the last ULY they had but I was told they couldn't sell any Buells because they were no longer a dealer. Oh well I guess I'll keep my eye on the classifieds.
