Not sure Court. Really the only thing I know about it is its a local dealer has it on his lot or it rather in it. Its being sold for his Brother. I'll know more by end of week if my Brother got it. Its also a Automatic. But it has the shift paddles on the steering wheel.I better not tell my Brother that a brake job is going to cost a small fortune.LOL

Jersey,

I hope so to cause then I can borrow it from time to time.LOL My Brother was actually in the market for a Z06. Like a 2006 or newer used. This came along locally and yellow is his favorite color. Between myself and his wife telling him that the vette is great but the Porche is just sexy it grew on him.... FAST. If the guy doesn't take his offer my Brother is going to walk. Theres alot of nice cars out there. It's friggn cold and snowy here. If he can sell this car in this weather all the power to him.

Bads1..

Love that car! Drove my 944 Turbo for over 200K miles, best dang car I ever owned...second place goes to my old 928...

My son has his ZO6 up for sale, 2008 with turbo, around 700 hp... he just bought a GTR and told me Vette is going for sale this week....that thing is a ROCKET!

Vette has around 3500 miles on it... bloody perfect and right around 65K

If your brother is interested in one of the fastest in the country, drop me a PM

Pete

Uhhhh. . . if he made an "offer" and they "accepted" . . dude he owns the car . . . that's the definition of a contract.

Unless he made a condition . . "let me know if you'd take $____ for it and I'll sleep on it".

He may have to hustle or by the time he wakes up someone else may own it at that price. . .

Nice car!

>>>>Its also a Automatic.

That automatic is a Tiptronic and he's gonna LOVE it! It's a REALLY smart predecessor to the PDK that is just now starting to ship to dealers.

The brakes on the car above (the Yellow calipers are the giveaway) are the Porsche Ceramic Composite that are an $8,000+ option. I'm not sure how much pads are but I'll bet the thing will do a 100-0 quick enough to make your face look like a balloon in a jelly jar against the windshield.

Be sure he gets it before Homecoming next year so Steve and I can "test" it for him . . . we'll be home by midnight.

: )

Court,
Actually with the Economy the way it is these cars are easy to buy right if you have the money. These guys know it to that are selling the car. My Brother has a Condo up at the Osthoff in Elkhart Lake. I may just get to take ya for a spin in it. My Brother did get the specs on it. It has a Exhaust on it,Minor Turbo work. Its pushing about 525 hp up from the 425 it came from the factory. I really think he'll buy it. I just know my Brother.... its the way he is.lol

True, I picked up an '07 987 Coupe for $33,600. The Tiptronic is a lot of fun, and I'm averaging 37 mpg. My personalized tag just arrived: "MY 962C"... gotta love it!

Gads. . .you just never know who you are going to meet. A buddy of mine in the Cayman Club, worn out as the CIO for Bernard Madoff from a week of ducking media sneaking in and out of his office, asked me to go over a friends place to see his cars. Of course, he didn't mention the guy had 30,000SF of high security, temp/humidity controlled garage with a full shop, all sorts of fun stuff (he "accidently" picked up an Indy car on e-Bay a couple weeks ago) and "play rooms" with the coolest simulators in them. Here are a couple of the pics . . . . another hobbyist gone wild!

Jackie, a Porsche Collector and local PCNA Coordinator, is a seasoned track veteran but took a few laps to warm up to the simulator.

I'm going to try to label some of these later but this photo was amazing. Look closely at the bolt in the suspension. Not only was all the hardware Titanium but the centers were drilled out of the bolts to save weight. As a weight saving measure there were no washers used. As the mechanic, who now runs Greg's in-house Machine Shop, explained "we really didn't need washers, it was a one race car and was completely dissembled following each race";.

Greg's "day job" is software engineering . . . . so this was a natural off-shoot. . . pick your car, pick your track and spend hours getting to know it.

WOW!...Derek Bell's Rothmans 956- that is totally bada$$! I've got the video "In car 956" that Derek did in the early 80's, and I got him to sign a copy of My Racing Life at Daytona in '89. How I miss the Holbert/Bell glory days of IMSA.

Your friend has a very nice collection- it's nice to see that some of that $50 billion was spent wisely.

Thanks for the pics, Court.

Oops... re-read and saw it's a friend of the friend's collection- it's still amazing.

The 356 is a styling icon, though I do prefer the Spyder. There was, (and I cant for the life of me find the pictures) a VW cabrio in the 50s out of Brazil that had a lot of the precursors to the 356. It was called the PanAmericana, damned if I cant find the VWTrends that had it in it.

My Grand father had a garage full of old English classics, none of the Es ever ran, they were a sight to behold. the only one that was reliable was a Spitfire that he had put a Ford 302 and redone the entire electrical.

Well my Brother did get the car. The cash exchange happened through the banks today. My Brother now has to wait for a clear dry day to bring it home. It'll get flat bed but not till we have dry roads. The salt is all over the place. Then it's going to a friend of mine for a 15,000 mile service but the 30,000 mile is getting done as well..... whatever that is. None the less he is really excited.

I would like to thank everyone on this website for the help and general knowledge. I was able to learn a lot just reading the posts. I picked up my 09 Blast a couple of weeks ago and just love it. I have only had it out a couple of times, but I am looking forward to warmer weather. The Bike is great!! Also, if anyone lives near the middle of Missouri, Mid America Harley/Buell is a great dealer!

Court,

That picture is a pic my Brother sent me of a car like the one he finally bought but not the car itself. When he told me black wheels what he ment was the inserts are like a black smoked. But heres the car. 2001 twin Turbo AWD 911. It does have the brakes you spoke of. It has black leather interior with the triptronic shift paddles on the carbon fiber steering wheel. Hell the dash inlay is all carbon fiber. The wheels are 2007. The car has 13,210 miles only. The first pic is my Brother backing off the Flatbed. Had to get this pic. Read the side of the truck LOL

Yeah the 911 coming off the flatbed has the regular brakes. The one at the top of the thread has the composite ceramic brakes. The yellow rotors (and the $10,000 bill for a brake job) are the give away.

He'll love it!

I'm still looking for mine in May . . . fingers crossed!

'Round here we refer to those as calipers instead of rotors. Nonetheless, absolutely gorgeous cars. I really loved the E when I was a kid, but that entire garage is jaw-dropping.
My garage has a minivan, a pickup, and a Lincoln. I've apparently chosen the wrong path in life.....

I mis-spoke . . . I said "rotors" an meant calipers . . althought the calipers are quite different in to photo at the top of the thread and the one above.

The photo at the top . . the car your brother was buying . . has teh PCCM.

quote:

For the ultimate in high-performance braking technology, the 911 Turbo can be equipped with the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system. The key components in PCCB are the molded ceramic discs, which are a larger 14.96 in. (380 mm) at the front, and 13.78 in. (350 mm) at the rear. As a result of an extremely complex manufacturing process, they are harder, more resistant to high temperatures, and only about half the weight of grey cast-iron discs—three reasons composite brakes are widely used in today’s most advanced racing cars. The ceramic material is also corrosionresistant and offers excellent acoustic damping properties. The carbon-composite discs work in concert with a special brakepad compound, offering rapid deceleration and consistent friction properties. The pads are mounted in six-piston monobloc aluminum fixed calipers at the front, with four-piston units at the rear. The ultimate advantages of PCCB are an extremely high braking force that remains exceptionally consistent under heavy use, and a significant reduction in unsprung mass, which improves the chassis’s responsiveness. To distinguish Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes at a glance, the calipers are painted yellow.

The giveaway is that the $10,000+ option has the distinctive yellow calipers. The standard 911 as well as the Cayman S and Boxter S have the standard red calipers.

Yellow Calipers

Sorry for the confusion . . . that Speed Yellow bodywork is hot too. One of our members just picked up a screamin deal on a Speed Yellow Cayman and I went to look at one last week. Quite awesomistic.
