Bads1 - Looks like your brother scored himself a nice car! Thanks for the pics : )

"I'm still looking for mine in May . . . fingers crossed!"
Court, don't you have a Porsche already? I'm probably not remembering correctly, but I thought I read in one of your posts quite a while ago about not being able to get the F150 you wanted and buying a Porsche instead.

For those of you who are interested in older race cars I've just got the December issue of the UK magazine Evo. It's their 10th Birthday issue and it has a great article on driving an original GT40 to LeMans, and an article on driving, and racing, a Porsche 962. If anyone wants a copy, PM me and I'll scan and email them.

cheers,
chili

I do not have one . . . am tuned in for one for graduation in May. The good news is that I've gotten totally sucked into activities in the local Porsche Club and they have stuff almost every weekend. The better news is that most of them are total bike nuts and there has never been a shortage of folks willing to swap their Porsche for the Ulysses for a romp through the twisties.

One guy I've become good friends with is a 3X I.S.D.T. Medalist and a former AMA Sportsman of the Year.

It was kind of funny as Vickie and I were at our first Porsche Club event and I see these guys whispering and pointing at me (I rode a BMW to the event) and one of them walks over and says "I know you, your're the Buell guy".

Sure enough he'd bought an S3 in 2001 based on simply seeing a photo and falling in love, he'd never ridden one. He keeps his S3 and his KTM Super Duke now but has been lusting for the Ulysses and is strong candidate to buy one in the spring.

The first time he gave me his Porsche, he rode with me. I was driving it with lots of what, at least to me, was appropriate caution.

He told me "kick it in the ass, it's got a rev limiter" and off we went.

For the next couple hours he took Vickie's CLK and she and I took the Porsche and had a blast.

Funniest part of the day was when I returned to passenger status and he was driving . . quite spirited. I was concerned about Vickie finding us at the next stop as we snaked through the twisties and told him my concern. His reply . . . "shouldn't be a problem, look behind us". Sure enough, she was about 30' behind us in a gorgeous 4 wheel drift.

Toys . . . when does it stop????

Big challenge now is to graduate.

: )

And . . . the F-150 stays or gets replaced by a 2009 F-150 Crew Cab.

Court,

I understand what your saying now. My Brothers car though isn't a standard 911 though. Wouldn't the brakes be better then that of a standard?? Its a twin Turbo.

>>>>Wouldn't the brakes be better then that of a standard

Dude . . . it is a PORSCHE. There are no "bad" brakes, they are amazing.

If it has the RED calipers (like the car on the flatbed) they are the same calipers and rotors and the standard (odd use of the word "standard" on a $135,000 car I admit) calipers.

If it has the yellow calipers like the first photo of it you posted then it has the PCCM Composite rotors.

Frankly, unless your brother is going to be racing the car, unlikely, he'll do great with the "standard" calipers and save about $9,500 every time he has his brakes serviced.

I'm liking that Speed Yellow more all the time!

By the way . . . for those of you who may not have kept up the 2009 F-150 Crew Cab is off the charts cool. 9" longer (who can't use an extra 9"?) and has an on board computer support system (prints work orders, invoices, etc).

There is an "bed inventory system (who doesn't like to keep track of the coming and goings in their bed?) that tracks your tools. . . you tag the tools, call up the menu and it shows in the display screen as green (in the bed) or red (out of the bed). . . and provides a list of what's not there when you go to leave the job at the end of the day.

Few folks are capable of operating a Ford pickup with my skill but it's nice to have the tools available to the general public!

Dude??

Come on Court. You used the term standard like it was a Miata. Thats why I questioned. I understand the color thing. I at first thought color had nothing to do with it. I thought it was just a model or a year thing. Car was originally $159,000 according to the sticker. I guess options and stuff run them up. My Brother I know likes it but I'm not sure if he's still rather have the Vette. The Vette he says has more room, rides nicer and its more comfortable. He said if he like the 911 through Summer he'll keep it. If not he'll get the Vette.

There have been lots of folks (who all love the C6 Vettes) get rid of them for Porsches.

There are two rather spirited discussions on the Porsche forum at present.

I wouldn't doubt that. Kinda the same thing here on the BadWeb.... brand loyalty. Fact is though they are both very very good cars. I've been in a couple 911's and my Brother Inlaw has a 2006 z06. The Vette does ride nicer. Remember though.... Wisconsin roads are choppy in comparison other Southern state where more Exotic cars are driven.

Hopefully never ; )

I'm sure it will all go well.

And . . . the F-150 stays or gets replaced by a 2009 F-150 Crew Cab.
Hmmm... I'm still getting used to the styling of the latest one. Maybe a little too new, and big, for me. I'll stick with my '74 F-100!

They are the mounting points for the lower body effects on the door. If you were standing and took the pic it wouldn't be seen.

Testarosa? F512? I can't quite nail it, I don't know the Ferraris as well as some other brands

The holes are part of the gangsta package, it is shot from the factory to give you that hard core 50 Cent gangsta look : D

Yep your right. Its got 18,000 on the clock right now. He put 360 wheels and the front nose, rear bumper cover, and side skirts are 355. Its to what I'm told quite a few with 348's have done this to make it look cleaner.

His in the condition is worth in the 50's he said. It was worth more a year ago. The economy has even hurt the exotics quite a bit.

Hah I had a feeling it was a mix, the newer wheels threw me way off. I knew the side skirts were 355, so that only made me more confused. I had to start googling pictures to make sure I wasn't going nuts : )

They are very low . . . We've had 3 neighbors pop up with new Ferrari's in the last 6 months and all I can say if God Bless them for being able to crawl in.

One of them, I must confess, is about the coolest color I've ever seen and it's the only one I've not managed to snap a photo of. Other two are Speed Yellow (Porsche's name, I don't know what Ferrari calls it) and one guy down the street came home last week with an Audi R8 that is about the most awesome blue I've seen.

Cool stuff. . . . me, I like my ol' Ford Pickup!

Court so true. Sitting in the car at my height frame isn't easy or comfortable till you actually in it. Don't even want to talk about getting out.... you don't.... you fall out. He fabricates for a living on his own. He also build about 2 nice new Harley's that are one off's. One of a kind for sure. Court his name is Dave Neu. Years ago he was the custom painter for Paramount bikes. Yep,he's the guy that painted all of the Buell bikes at Paramount.

Testarossa's are cheap, relatively speaking, right now too. May even find someone to do an even swap. Good luck to him. More of a Lamborghini fan but love all exotics although not many up here. A few though including one of those blue R8's Court was speaking of driving around in the snow last week.
