Ike, I call Cerini about the sidestand right after I got the letter (when was that? sometime in July?) and they said they didn't have the parts and would call when they came in. They still haven't call me!

I got the sidestand done when New Castle did my 10k service (I went with them for the 10k because I didn't need an appointment. I dropped it off and the next day they called and said it was done! Too cool!!!

They have never done me wrong. Always very professional and prompt. I didn't see the invoice on this one but I'm sure it's a big bill!

Glad things turned out well, Tim. Funny thing, I've been calling New Castle since the recall came out and I'm told they still don't have the sidestand recall kits! When I had my last service in august(for a major oil leak) their appts. were at least 2 weeks out. They did tell me just to drop it off. I did and they got it in and out in a few days (minus kickstand repair).

Hey Bret, what's going on? Hope you guys are doing well.

When I talked to them about the 10k service, they told me they didn't have the parts. When I picked up the bike they said had the parts after all and did the recall. It is obviously a new sidestand, sticks out a little further and is more froward in the deployed position.

Ok, lets see if I can put a couple of pics together.....

The day started out fine.

The band showed up (late, they slept in)

Then we left for the trip to AC

As stated, felt a wobble, limped into Absecon (where our hotel was) took off the bags and found...

Had to take a cab into A.C., saw a great show but missed out on the back stage party (can you say THAT SUCKS!)

so, after very little sleep and a ton of phone calls, we found a truck. That we could have on MONDAY! (Can you say THAT REALLY SUCKS!)

My wife still wanted to ride, what a trooper!

We took a shot at it, but the scenery sucked!

Does this coat make me look silly?

she looks so cold and all alone! Poor baby.

Well, you can't do this on the back of the bike.

We stopped for gas, oh, what's this gonna cost?

OUCH!

We got to the ER in about six and a half hours without any further problems.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we also broke a latch, small problem as it turned out!

After a week in the ICU, the good docs found the problem.

Those gobs of stuff used to be bearings.

They replaced all of the dead tissue, and she is good as new!

NEW: swingarm, break caliper, rotor, pads, spacer, axle, nuts, bolts, screws, bearings, oil, break fluid. And they cleaned it, a group of stand-up guys in deed!

Home sweet home, she gets to sleep in her own bed tonight! Look at that smile!

Well, there you have it! We made it home on Monday without any more problems, I have my bike back and I figured out the pic posting thing (sort of).

I'm still waiting on the latch and to hear about reimbursement for the truck/extra night in a hotel. I'll keep ya posted.

Tim

PS: Everyone we met was great, we had a good time and thank you to Liberty for a cool day.

Looks like it was a great time. I got to catch Queensryche in concert 2 weeks before the the Liberty HD Buell gig. They are awesome,Stone rocks and Tate still has a killer voice. Hope everyone enjoyed the Queensryche Buells my Buddy Will worked his tail off on a 48 hour deadline for those paint jobs including the delivery back to Erik personally.

Great story and pix, Tim. Glad you two made it safely through the 'meltdown' with out crashing.

Your pix were the best I've seen of the details on the Queensryche bikes.

I'd sure like to see more detail pix of the seats and bodywork...(hint,hint everyone).

That is remarkable. I hope that broken stuff gets sent to Buell so they can look into it a little further. Seems like a pretty strange thing, like that BMW guy's final drive catching on fire. Good on ya for not losing it. I con't even want to think about what riding without a rear wheel bearing would feel like.

I had a rear wheel bearing fail too. I was cruising along a SoCal freeway above the legal limit and all of a sudden it felt like a tire was going down. I started to slow but I could tell which end the problem was, so I had to be careful with braking. I minutes it went from maybe a problem to severe shake/wobble with a metallic screech...
Limped off and parked it and called a tow. Scary!

Df, Your situation sounds like it was a bit more sudden than mine. Scary indeed, none the less! Glad you got through it.

During this trip I noticed my front wheel bearings that had just been replaced with the red sealed ones were bad.
