Court, I have sent you my address. To be fair, I was not the only guy on the ride and for the most part a nice guy by the name of Steve with a GSXR lead most of the way. I met up with him later after the concert and he was going to be riding back home. I offered him a place to stay at my home but he gracefully declined. Another guy with his wife riding a Ulysses had a mechanical on the way down and wasn't sure how he was going to be getting home. I also gave him my number and offered to contact the local buell dealer but I never heard from him again. As Blackxb9 mentioned, we really just had a blast riding with them and I really enjoyed the day immensely and again it was a pleasure meeting you.

I wish we hadn't left so early, sounds like we missed some good times. My night vision sucks however, riding after dusk is very difficu;t for me.

Chris, next time I'm in NJ visiting family, we'll have to invite you & your wife over. We always have a good time.

Court, I would appreciate it if you sent me any pictures you may have with me in the shot, I can only equipped with my phone.

Thanks,

-Ras

Hi guys, My wife and I had a GREAT time (until my rear wheel bearing seal decided to call it quits! And of course, as Mr. Murphy would want it, at 80ish MPH on the NJ Turnpike weaving in and out of traffic with the band and other Buellers an hour from our destination!)

I have a bunch of photos but I haven't yet had a chance to compress anything. Soon!

As mentioned above, about half way to A.C. (after the first stop) we had a wobble in the back end of the bike, stopped to look and found nothing amiss. The guy on the H-D that was riding with us (I didn't get his name, sorry)came back for us just as I was getting back on. I told him that everything looked ok and we both left, he took off to catch up with the rest of the group and I started again and REALLY had a wobble. Stopped on the side of the Turnpike and looked a little closer and I thought the back break caliper was loose so I tightened it up, with the bags on and the cars blasting past I was unable to take a good look but I though that was it. It wasn't! By this time naturally the band and Buellers were long gone. We limped into Absecon (to our hotel) and checked in. I took off the bags and nearly soiled my shorts! The left side of the wheel was cocked and there were no bearings where there should have been! the top of the rotor was rubbing on (and part way through) the bolt that passes through the break pads and the bolts/screws that secure the rotor to the wheel were making contact with the inside of the caliper. GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY!!!!! I'm glad that I didn't notice that on the side of the Turnpike, at least we made it to the hotel!

Chris (Tankhead) sorry I didn't call you, I must have made five thousand calls on Sunday and it slipped my mind until about 10PM and I didn't want to bother you. Thanks anyway.

We took a cab to the show (and what a show, these guys ROCK!) My wife was amazed that we were just BSing with Tate and Stone and they are so cool, personable, polite and patient with all of us and then they get on stage and Wham, they have their game faces on! Alas, we did not make it back stage after the show! and let me tell you THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! we took another cab back to the hotel while those other guys were hanging with the band!

Sunday
So, after a night of little sleep, I decided NOT to get it towed to one of the local dealers. (I did call Liberty after we got into our room on Saturday hoping that the open house was still going on but, I got the machine!) Liberty only has store hours on Sunday, no service and Millville H-D was closed. I decided to rent a truck.

I thought: If I tow it, I have to pay at least some of the fee, wait for it to get repaired, however long that would take, more hotels, more missed work. If I truck it to my dealer, I would at least be home and I wouldn't have to argue with two dealers as to who was going to pay.

After the 5k calls, no one had a truck! I called a car place and they had a minivan, so we checked out of the hotel and while we were waiting for the cab I looked at a minivan parked in the lot and decided that it might not fit....now what? Cancel the cab, check back in to the hotel, and make a bunch more calls. We found a U-haul just up the street that we could have in the AM, SOLD! The only truck we could get for a one way rental was a freaking 17 footer but at least we would be home!

So, what to do in Atlantic City when your not much of a gambler?????? We got a cab, went into town and got drunk!

Monday
Loaded the truck and headed home. At the dealer, all of the service guys came out and were scratching their heads, the owner (who also has a Uly) even took a look. They are going to call Harley to see about getting reimbursed for the truck and hotel but I'm not really holding my breath.

Who knows how long it's going to be in the shop. I asked the service guys to save the parts so I could get some pics, so I'll post them when I can.

Holy Crap this is a long post, sorry. All in all it was an adventure, everyone we met was great and we look forward to seeing you all soon!

BlackXb9,
The ride home was sweet, "a little faster than the speed limit" NO rain, unlike the ride to Liberty.

BTW, NICE HELMET! and Bike!

Tim,

Sorry to hear about the troubles. Someone mentioned it in an earlier post and I wondered if it was you.

Who has your bike?

I'm guessing you're not going to Mid-Ohio this weekend...

I'm sorry I missed out on Saturday, my schedule just didn't allow it. Looks like everyone had a great time.

Rich;
Liberty did a great job and I thought it was very well attended, even with questionable AM weather.

New Castle has the bike, I took it up there to have tires put on just before we left, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I figured that since they were the ones who most recently had the wheel off, they should fix it. I dropped it off on Monday, haven't heard anything yet! No Mid-Ohio, on the bike anyway, maybe I can cage it.

Maybe I should take a closer look at the bearing seals on mine. I know the idiot that last took the wheels off very well.

I'll be at Mid-Ohio with my son. We're probably heading out early Sat AM and camping at the track. Still haven't quite perfected the packing method yet (2 up, sleeping bags, tent, etc.).

Maybe we'll run into you if you decide to head out.

Well, thanks for all the well-wishes! In fact, the delivery was VERY FAST - like we stole it, so to speak, and I thought you'd like to see the end result:

The New OdinBueller Jr.

The Next Generation Buelligan

What is this little tiny thing anyway???

(Please note the product placement - he was never without the Buell stuff guys.)

So everything is good here, and I'm glad to see that everyone had a good time at the party! I'm glad I got to go to it - barely!

Now, again, what on EARTH are we going to do next year??

Chellem, congrats, just be sure to make time to be there for them.
They grow up SO quickly.

One day you'll turn around and be stunned by the fact your oldest is as tall as their Mom.
You'll stand there dumbfounded wondering where the years went. It happens to all of us.

Well, he's well on his way to having the same length hair as me. Actually, I have the adorable little bundle of gas in my left arm as I type! Seriously, he blew his diaper off this morning, causing an emergency hazmat cleanup & delaying my arrival to work.

Now we just need to get a decent vendor to get some Buell kids apparel to market! My Photoshoptastic wife made some cool variants of the Buell logo for last years' Thunderbolts event, made a LaserJet iron on and on to a shirt it went! I don't know why Court couldn't get a measly couple dozen race shirts together before H-D corporate put the kybosh on the whole endeavor : )

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! We'll get this little Buelligan on a Firebolt in no time, considering his father's & grandfather's tendancy for spirited riding! More pictures to come ASAP!

Sunday 10.1.06!!!!

TGI October! Hope everyone enjoyed the summer and is looking forward to the fall. We saw the autumn leaves start to change at the gap as we were slaying dragons this past week. Hubby and I have been busier than ever, and in some ways its good, in others it sucks. But it is what it is nonetheless. Why are vacations so much shorter than time in the real world?

We arrived at Fontana on Saturday. We trailered/rode our four girls (Ours: City X XB9, Thruxton, Theirs: Yamaha 1300 cruiser something and Honda Shadow) from FL to Hotlanta then to the Gap on Saturday. When we arrived in NC, it was strange, soggy, muddy, and foggy. Despite the ginger I was taking for preemptive elevation issues, I wanted to yak because I am a flat lander. BLEAHH!!! No riding for me the first couple days. I sat in the cabin with my friend, drank some beer and Bushmills Whisky and sang karaoke on Saturday and just chilled out and may have napped on Sunday. The storm that moved through the mountains on Saturday night made me want to puke. It was violent, weird and fascinating.

The “Boys” slayed the dragon on Saturday and Sunday. I heeded the warning about the dragon bites and waited for dry pavement on Monday before I dusted off my two wheeled sword. OMG, what an experience! On Monday, we did a group ride on one of recommended loops and it was big fun with the exception of the inevitable monkey butt.
NOTE TO SELF: Get new seat on bike!!

Sorry to have to sign off now, it’s late, I’ll pick up with this later!!!

Cheers! PBS/cd

?????????????????? Some day I will get this whole pic posting thing!

Honestly, if you people can do it...........

time to re-read the "how-to" section!

Anyway, I got my bike back on Saturday.
They had to replace; the swingarm, break caliper, break rotor, break pads, all of the bolts/screws that connect the break parts, axle and spacer. Quite a laundry list.
It was after closing time so I only got a few pics. If I ever get this compression thing sorted out I will post all of the photos.

All those parts and they were done in under a week?!

Guess I need to start getting acquainted with the New Castle folks...Approximately 7 weeks since I called Cerini's about the sidestand recall.

Glad to hear you're back up and running.
