This the kind of thing you are looking for?

I stand corrected. This is the PEGASUS. The Tailpipe was earlier

Buelliedan: There was actually one of the Buell design bikes on e-bay about 3 weeks ago. I think it sold for around $1000.

Allright,lets get back to S2s!!

What have you found as the best solution to the S2 lean? I know Aaron took a torch to his and bent it and I have seen others use a hunk of wood every time they park it. I was wondering if I could add some washers inside the pivot to make it more rigid instead of the springy slide I get now? Does that make any sense?? :)

It ain't leanin', it's stylin'.
Plus, hanging way over like that keeps people from parking too close thinking the S2 is about to fall over. :)

The problem is, is that if not careful they DO fall over!! :(

Dan,
Yeah, I know, but I thought that's why they came out with the sidestand mod adding the steel pin/rivet/knob/thingy. Thinking about it though, I don't think my S2 sank into the parking lot asphault any more than the M2 did here at work, so I wonder how much difference there is in sidestand foot pressure on the S2's compared to other models. Call this a variation to the contact patch theme.

Court,
Thanks for my S2's birthdate verification. Sorry I wasn't here to answer the phone, but I work half-days on Fridays. :)

Well, I guess if we're going to do this right, we'll also have to calculate the amount of wind force it takes to blow a bike over while the bike is resting on the side stand. If'n it's gonna lean, give it a good reason.

I think I'll go post a salt question now.

You can add material to the bottom pad to make it lean less on the kickstand or extend the lenght of the kickstand... I have not found anyone who tried to bend it so it would lean less. I have done the pin mod mentioned above on earlier kickstand mounts it isn't too difficult and anything helps...

Please.....Please...NO!

I sense we are on the verge of Aaron producing a sidestand that is faster than any ever made and Blake explaining WHY it works.....

I know that all S-2 owners learn to park bike pointing uphill and in gear --sooner or later.Never had mine fall over, the look is decieving.I did see one machinist type cut, reangle, and reweld his side plate for better angle, but an awful lot of work for anyone without machine shop.

Aaron, maybe if I had an S2 on which to take measurements. But really, kickstands just aren't that exciting for me. :) Talking about tipping over though... My old Yammer XZ550RJ usd to tip over all the damn time. It could be a blistering hot Texas afternoon and weak asphalt or a blustery winter day in Dallas with the cover on. Problems were the tiny little footprint and the too short lever arm of the sidestand that allowed it to tip so easily. Man, to this day, I HATE that bike. It made Cecil's S3 look bulletproof. What a piece of cripe that thing was.

So, Blake, kickstands don't inspire you to wax mathematical, but gear shift levers do?

I'm looking forward to meeting you in person! I think you may be a sick puppy...

I like the lean. It an acquired taste, I know, but it builds character and charm in the bike.

Let me ask you this gents....frankly there aren't that many of us S-2 owners in the world. Would if be easier if we, as a group, just vowed, henceforth, to always lean, say 15 degrees whenever photographed next to our bikes?

It's an I idea......hehehehe...most of us lean right anyway :)

I think Court means that most of us are sort of bent already,or maybe around the bend,we do seem to have a strange slant on things, especially S-2 owners!!

Yes,yes, and to add a twist to the bends, I'm seriously considering trading or selling my S1W for another S2...they(S2's) are just so appealing visually and the ride and handling...aaahhh, the ride and handling...quite extraordinary really.

Dan,

Take the bike up the to Cloudcroft and then the back road to the Ski Apache. Ride at a reasonable pace. You'll soon see the difference. Make sure you adjust you shock pre-load and then set the damp and rebound for the front shock at max or one notch below.

We'll get you hooked yet, if nothing else, it's a great bike for Cil.
