The strenght of Badweb is similar to Sacborg. All the members own and ride bikes. That's our common bond. Another board I used to particpate on a lot slowly changed into non-riders forum and deteriorated into a valueless squabble. As long as we all ride, we can work out our differences along the way. This concludes my original list of topics. |

Lurch, that pic has to be the funniest thing I've seen all week. Thanks for the laugh, ride on! |

Well, it certainly makes the point. But I'm afraid that lots of folks are likely to find the image of a dead, bleeding baby offensive. I'm not gonna custodiate that picture single-handedly, but any other custodians see it and find it offensive, I'd be OK with removing it. rt |

Well I found it offensive. Also found it even more offensive since it was plain ol' trollin. |

RT & Glitch - thank you. As a mother I also found that image more than offensive. It's also posted on the Conclusion thread. The fact that Snail thought it was the funniest thing he'd seen all week, sad, very sad. |

Background, Lurch's pic comes in the lee of a long hotly contested thread involving seal clubbing by the Canadians, on Labusa. It was funny to me in that context. I told you I was crude. I swear a lot, too. |

Supposed to feel like chewing gum and taste like chicken. Why do you ask, did someone send you some in the mail????? Lurch is actually a good guy and a loss to the community here even though he hasn't posted much in the last year or three. |

Oh for cripes (in deference to delicate sensibilities) sakes! Oh course the picture was offensive! Life is goddamn offensive! Picked up a newspaper lately? It is incredibly easy to get offended. You know what's hard? What's really difficult? Deciding WHEN to get offended, deciding that, gee, seems to be a bit of coming together here, maybe I'll just overlook this sophmorish attempt at humor. (I'm the poster boy for animal rights, but I found the humor in the pix in this context.) becoming offended is akin to silver bullets. That is, ya got just so many of them; use them wisely, because after a certain point the cry rings hollow. Want to hear what offends me? (No? Then become offended). Here's short list: 1. dishonesty 2. disloyalty 3. drinking and riding 4. road hogs in the fast lane 5. the ignoring of Nicky Hayden by the MotoGp elite 6. $300 tickets to Laguna Seca 7. bullies 8. internet threats 9. mainstream press 10.anti-seal clubbers who happily eat a hamburger 11. "Baby on Board" tags 12. whiners 13. double standards 14. the reduction in size of Hershey bars. 15. race track food 16. airport food prices 17. Cadillac Escalades ('07s) 19. helmet laws 20. gravel in turns 21. Ducati gas gages 22. patch clubs 23. Arnold 24. contingency lawyers 25. photo radar 26. Rumsfeld 27. The article on Carrol Shelby in this month's Vanify Fair (the first paragraph) 28. clear-cutting 29. ass kissing 30. fanatics and zealots of any ilk 31. Mormans on my doorstep 32. catholics in my bedroom 33. atheists in my foxhole 34. organized religeon 35. men and women who talk to God and then insist on telling me about it. 36. stupidity 35...etc. This is the reason I do not favor the "custodian" format. I'd like a cogent answer to this, please: What right does an appointed custodian have to decide what I...and everyone else...should be able to view? The only reason that begins to make sense (and just barely) is the kiddies. Hmmm, thought that was a parent's job.} |

Sorry Reg, I don't like images like that and neither did several of the custodians (keepers of light and truth in a dark world, masters of etiquette, and those with knowledge of when to use the small fork), so I blasted it. It was gross and didn't belong here. But like you said elsewhere, different strokes. I'm not mad, wasn't indignanat, just saw it to not be a theme worth encountering here. Probably cool in other places. I might ask what right did Lurch have to post that here? I might ask if my right not to be blindsided by an image like that is worth taking action for as well. Please don't be upset about it. I say we just chaulk it up to being different. Vive le difference!! |

I like your list Reg. I'm probably on that list in a few places, but not on your doorstep or bedroom. |

Lurch: I saw the writing. It didn't make the image of a dead baby laying in a pool of blood any less offensive. At least two other custodians agreed. So it's gone. Reg: Nobody has the right to decide what you should view. But the appointed custodians of a site with stated standards regarding what's appropriate on that site have the right to pass judgment on material that appears on that site. rt edited to add: I'm not offended at seeing the picture; I've seen worse, in pictures and in real life. Quoting from the registration pages of Bad Web: "I will not post any content to BadWeB or hyperlinks to other web pages that one would hesitate to expose in the workplace or to family and children. If it is not appropriate for showing on daytime public television or on a public billboard, it is likely not acceptable to post on BadWeatherBikers.com." I felt that the dead baby picture fell into that category. (Message edited by road_thing on June 15, 2006) |
