Yeah agreed Elias should be finishing better. Possibly just age (and family) is catching up to him. This just might be a farewell tour for him..

The Beaubier brothers REALLY seem to like Road America!

Saw the Elias thing coming. Thought he may finish the season, but obviously something wasn't right with him. Give Eslick the ride! Kinda sad to see Danny toiling in 13th place in the BAGGERS race--where old racers goto die. Even more sad in Race 2 when he was running around on pit lane trying to get his POS bagger to start.

Dennis called it. The European makers did a lot better than the Japanese makers at Road America. Jake had a weekend to forget for sure. Just blind luck he hangs on to the points lead.

Taylor Knapp will replace Elias for just one round (so far). There's still hope for Eslick.

Eslick is black balled for some reason from the MA paddock. I am convinced of it.

So what do you think? Will Beaubier snatch his title back, or will Gagne hold on to it for another year?

It's nice to have a competitive field in Superbikes for a change, but I think Gagne will still maintain his grip on the rest.

Paasch has some good creds, but he IS coming off an injury and is on a new team and bike. So he'll have some work to do.

Yesterday's Race 1 was pretty ugly. Sure hope for better for the two scheduled for today. At least the two Cams apparently weren't hurt.

I think it's safe to say CamBee is back, and Jake is going to have a fight on his hands.

Laguna Seca was awesome as usual. A little windy and cold Friday and Saturday, but Sunday was pretty glorious. Again, compared to last year there are less and less vendors and more empty space in the paddock. Also, Motoamerica is squeezing as much as possible out of its fans and giving less. NO vendor area entertainment, except for a kids play area (alas Ducati Island was turned into the kid's playground ). The porta-potties throughout the facility were obviously scaled back. In our area, we had 5 toilets from about a dozen in prior years. Not a big deal to those trying make an extra few bucks for MA, but not cool for those who have to use the toilets. Three sets of garbage/recycle cans in the entire stretch between Turns 10-11. All of 4 picnic tables in front of the big screen TV in the vendor area. $400 per campsite and $90/pp for the weekend ticket plus fees. Thanks MA.

Also, the crowd is definitely moving towards a Harley-type crowd. No patched gangs that I noticed, just a patch here and there--so at least that element has managed to stay away.

I will say they have made some track improvements. They leveled all the campgrounds and tarred some DG to the ground. It was actually a nice surface to camp on as we are still one the last bastions of tent campers--not sure how long that will hold up. We we were the first to use the sites with the new groud cover. Also, the new foot bridge across the main straight was definitely an improvement. I am guessing that Laguna has increased rental prices to MA, which led to the cutbacks above.

All in all still a great weekend.

Mostly because JD has a contract with Yamaha and has ridden for that team in the past.

JD is also very competitive on TT courses and there are a few coming up in the Flat Track world and he also has a contract with Estenson Yamaha.

And even so; Yamaha has a very real shot at winning the #1 plate in Flat Track for the first time since Kenny Roberts won it, back in the '70s. I doubt they'd shoot themselves in the foot.

Another thought would be to give the seat to Josh Hayes who is currently racing in Supersport. But that would mean he'd either have to compete in BOTH series, or they'd have to find a replacement for him in Supersport...

Hayes it is!

At least for Brainerd. JD would've had a conflict so maybe he's in line afterward?

JD Beach has won seven of the last 8 TT races. He also set fast time last Saturday at the Bridgeport Half Mile and finished third in the main event .423 seconds behind the winner. He's a serious contender and is favored to win two and possibly all three of the next three races. I really doubt that either Estenson Racing or Yamaha will let him go.

I like JD. How do you watch the Flat Track on TV? MA has seen the light and is pushing everything to YouTube. I am sure the couple people who post here already know this....

I get live streaming by subscription on Fans Choice TV. You can also watch it on a week or so delay on FS1 on cable. The Bridgeport Half Mile will be broadcast on FS1 at 1:30 PM this Sunday July 30. If you like close racing, you'll enjoy it.

For a 48 year old, Hayes is still pretty damned fast! Race 2 was pretty awesome and it was great to see fellow New Yorker PJ Jacobsen on top of the box. And he won in a straight-up fight, too. Tytlers Racing definitely found "something" in that BMW to make it a contender at every round.

D Beach won the Peoria TT yesterday.

Do you know the difference between Flat Track and Motocross?

About 100 MPH

Also, the word "FLAT" in "Flat Track."

The TT is a "Flat Track" and it isn't flat any more than Road America is.
You can watch it on FS1 this coming Sunday at 11:30 AM Eastern.

I dunno. I can't get too excited about Flat track since I really dislike oval racing of any sort. Even the "road courses" inside the super speedways like Indy, Daytona, etc are not legit IMHO.
