So now the only question is- Can I see this thing in action next month at VIR?

Spike,

I am sure hoping so! My tickets arrived in the mail this past week, so I'm gonna be there either way.

But I'd really love to see an 1125RR in the mix,

The other loud voice is Dean Adams who runs Superbike Planet; an Internet news site.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really, really wish that guy had a different name instead of mine.... and I'd also like to find out why he's like that and then knock it out of him, so that he'd write better, unbiased stories.

Larry, that RRW article seems to have been lifted. What was it about?

Yes, indeed. I remember meeting Al Ludington at Laguna Seca back in the mid-90s when he was Miguel DuHamel's crew chief. A really good guy. Tells it like it is.

for the shop guys. anyone put a temp sensor on the fuel tank to see what they are reading during the race? thats on actual fuel temp.

just curious.

on our old cars if fuel got hot. we lost speed at the track. golden rule.
I ask cause we was seeing a slower lap time and the datalogger read weaker afr ratios at the end of the race compared to earlier on.

I want to add a cooler for the fuel if its allowed. not sure on that part? just to see if it will help.

Taylor knapp ran a solid 10th in day two on the first race weekend at ohio as posted.

now the race is done and over do we get engine numbers or is that a thing we need to wait on also.

Larry, that RRW article seems to have been lifted. What was it about?

Weird it is gone. It was basically and editorial about many of the problems with DMG rules, or rather DMG not consistently applying the rules. But rather than beat on Buell it basically came off as a defense of Buell. The article cited how Honda received a special allowance for relocating the rear brake caliper on the 600cc bikes which should not have been allowed. Then the article mentioned how at one of the races (I don't recall which) some riders were penalized for moving on the grid (or something like that, I am one of the new race fans due to Buell's participation so I am not as versed as most) but Mladin was not penalized, although he was also at fault. It ended with the author (sorry I can't remember who wrote the article) mentioning a discussion he had with Erik Buell a couple of months ago and how Erik mentioned he wanted to have just the parts homologized but he was told to build the bike. The gist of the article was to bash DMG rather than Buell for inconsistently applying the rulebook across the board.

I have looked for the article but cannot find it. I did a google search on "big mac buell" because I remember the article mentioning a big mac also and came up with a link but the article is not there.

google link
}FIRST PERSON/OPINION: AMA Pro Racing And The Big Mac Theory News ...Jul 19, 2009 ... Go to any McDonald's and order a Big Mac, and you get a Big Mac, .... the paddock is an uproar and Erik Buell is being vilified for doing ...

Now I cannot attest to the veracity of this information so if this is all bogus I apologize. Maybe there was a reason the article was pulled.

The RRW revision is a really good statement about the arbritrary officiating on technical issues. It's neutral on the 1125RR - mentioning that Erik Buell DID go to AMA for approvals for the SBK engine and other mods.

It stated that originally Buell was asking for homologation of specific parts (like the cams, valves, etc) and was told that no, he'd have to build them all into a "Race Only" 1125R(R).

Think about it - originally, Buell wanted only to have Superbike homologation of specific parts and was told to build what we now know as the 1125RR... and now the paddock is bitching.

More of a slam on Ludington and Edmondson for their inconsistencies and lack of professionalism.

Worth a read -

It aint over.

Everybody who knows a little bit expands it to become their own artificial universe. What the AMA wanted was to make sure that privateers could buy the whole package so they wanted the kits installed from the factory. Because the factory can't install kits on a bike and then ship it out without violating EPA, it had to be a new model.

So yes, the AMA wanted a bike assembled not a kit, but only because they wanted to make it easier for the privateer to get a bike race ready. Nothing Machiavellian here, just some guys trying to put on the best possible show for the largest possible audience. If they don't tell the story well it's because they are men of action, not wordsmiths.

The racing is the best ever, just watch instead of listening to the BS. Midnight eastern time, turn on Speed and tell me this isn't a show of superb athletes. The only dishonorable actions are those of Henny Ray and Dean Adams, who are Japanese shills trying to pass themselves off as impartial journalists.

I don't know who to ask, but I would like for Anonymous to copy and paste that post over on ADV Rider; as a rebuttal to the copied editorial by Henny Ray Abrams. I think it would help to throw some fresh air into the stink emanating from Cycle News and Superbike Planet

Crusty - that'd be like sending a Vegan into a camp of cannibals to give them some dietary advice.

Adams and Abrams minds were made up years ago... and it's a shame that some folks still think of them as journalists.
