Sam and I are going to be there and the shop door will be open. Al lighten and I are going to be working on some part numbers for the many Buell maps we have developed. Give me a call on my cell and we can hook up. Terry - JT&S Performance

FYI: To any of the teams, we have told Henry Duga the shop and dyno are available free of charge for your needs. Also as track tenants we are hooked up with some of the other shops offering services, welding machining and such. But I am willing to bet most of us get to take the weekend off and watch our boys kick some *ss. TP

Well, since I'm only 15 minutes from the track. I'll be there, Saturday and Sunday.
Can't wait to see a Buell on the track again. It was great to see McWilliams on the XBRR a couple of years ago. This is a Buell track!!
Now, if we could only talk Shawn Reilly to come out and play... but he's probably to busy running the AFM racing and Z2 track days.

For the last few years Fireman Jim and about 10-15 other Buell guys have held a ride in the near-by twisties. We can do that again this year, I would suggest Friday morning wheels up between 9-10 leaving the JT&S shop or in front of Gate One for those without Friday tickets. The plan would be for a short ride and then return in two or maybe three hours for the afternoon sessions. There are all kinds of great roads starting within five miles of the track looping out to the coast, or just through the vineyards and back to the track. If there is enough interest we can have some deli stuff for lunch at the shop when you return. Give us a call and leave a message, or let us know here. Look forward to meeting many or you, Terry - JT&S Performance

PS: For those that desire we can have a map showing a route to Skaggs Springs (international raceway) out to the Sonoma County coast and back but that would pretty much be an all day ride, but god what a road!

I will be going all 3 days with my 7 yearold son . The best place to sit and watch at Infineon is near turn 9 you can see 90% of the track sitting there .

From the left end of the grandstand you can see start / finish and turn 1, then the exit of 6, then as they come back up thru 8 & 8A, followed by 9 & 9A, then 10 and the entry to the last turn 11, ending up at the start/finish straight and onto 1. At the same end of the grand stand is the tunnel over to the turn 9 seats. Hope this helps. Terry

Terry,

that's a great description of a key Sears Point, er, Infineon, viewing area

Thursday morning is the LeoVince charity ride from Richmond to the track -
we arrive trackside noon or later

I'll return to track Sat morning, specifically for viewing
the Japanese Historic M/C Foundation's inaugural vintage bike show

& again both Sat & Sun mid-afternoons for Daytona SportBike doubleheader -
our Buells & Aprilias are competitive, after all !

being allowed out on the tarmac at start/finish line
before races is a way-cool idea

see ya out there

How is attendance at Infineon? I know Fontana was sparse and Laguna Seca (Sept. race) was really sparse.

You can THANK CalTrans for the following:

Competitor Bulletin #2009-10
To: All AMA Pro Road Racing Competitors
Date: May 12, 2009
Effective: Immediately
Subject: Highway Construction near Infineon Raceway

This affects anyone travelling from or staying on the Vallejo side of Highway 37, and will seriously affect traffic in the mornings.

A construction project starting this week will close Highway 37 overnight on weekends, continuing through June 15. The 12-mile overnight closures will mean that drivers will need to take a 20-mile detour using Highways 121, 29 and 12 around the construction area. Highway 37 is the road between Infineon Raceway and Interstate 80 Closures will begin at 10:00pm on Fridays, and continue at 10:00pm Saturday and Sunday. The road will reopen at 8:00am on Saturdays, 9:00am on Sundays and 5:00am on Mondays. Work will be weather dependent and freeway electronic signs will warn and guide drivers. The California Department of Transportation paving project will start at the Highway 121 and Highway 37 interchange and run through to Wilson Avenue overcrossing in Vallejo.

Information is online at http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/37resurfacing/37detour s.htm.

I've gone to all 4 races the past few years. The July MotoGP event is the big Kahuna, nothing comes close, Infineon is second, and it's a toss up which was less attended, the september Laguna Seca or Fontana...

I like Infineon for race viewing best of all. One, because of the terrain/vertical elevations, there are a bunch of places where you can watch from where you can see most of the track. Only the carousel and the final turn are difficult to see from several places. Two, you can drive around the track on your bike to different vantage points, climb off, and watch. You don't have to park in one place and walk all around. Three, there are some really great action places, turn 2 is fun, and the chicane is just loaded with close calls all race long. Four, the way it is sculpted into the hills makes for some really comfortable places to just sit and watch.

Thanks Steve, I drive past the sign every morning, but can't see it because the sign is in the way, duh. From the south you could take the 580 and the Ritchman / San Rafael bridge to 101 and go north to 37 east bound to 121 and the track. It might be better but 37 is known to back up both ways with an issue on just one side.

Thanks for forwarding the offer Steve, it looks like the Mach 1 Graves Yamaha Super Moto bike might just end up in the box for couple runs sometime before the finals Sunday. It's going to be an exciting weekend at the track, Super Bike, Daytona Sport Bike, and AMA Super Moto, so much much racing so little time. Terry - JT&S Performance.

As for Photography , Sears Point is one of the better tracks around. Like Al said , turn 2 is exciting and along with the chicane on the back straightaway is very cool place to watch and comfortable amphitheater style seating is spacious.Fences are low and you can completely encircle the track with your vehicle.I used to watch Vintage and Open wheel races here as a kid and you rarely had fog issues as bad as Laguna during mid-day.Winners circle is wide open and the shade under the bleachers can save your life in summertime.

Have been giving some more thought to the early morning traffic. The route Steve listed will be pretty much the only way in before 37 reopens at 9:00. So if you have to get there early (before 9 am) keep in mind the roads like 121 leading into the track have a few 4-way stop signs and must handle 100% traffic before 37 reopens. So I guess what I am suggesting is that this time getting there early might be more difficult and just add to the problem. So if you don't need too, plan on hitting 37 somewhere between 9-10, once on 37 even if heavy it should flow. I will bet the CHP will be out to try and keep things moving. Just a suggestion, Terry

Is this the best way to get there from the south, early AM on Friday:

10: Keep LEFT to take I-580 W toward TRACY/SAN FRANCISCO. 36.3 mi Map Avoid

11: Merge onto I-680 N toward SACRAMENTO (Portions toll). 28.7 mi Map Avoid

12: Merge onto I-780 W via the exit on the LEFT toward BENICIA/VALLEJO. 6.6 mi Map Avoid

13: Merge onto I-80 E toward SACRAMENTO. 3.1 mi Map Avoid

14: Merge onto CA-37 W via EXIT 33 toward NAPA. 14.3 mi Map Avoid

15: Take the CA-121 N exit toward SONOMA. 0.1 mi Map Avoid

16: Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto CA-121 N/ARNOLD DR/CARNEROS HWY. 0.5 mi Map Avoid

17: End at 29265 Arnold Dr Sonoma, CA 95476

From Infineon Raceway:

SONOMA, Calif. - Race fans attending the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts, this weekend at Infineon Raceway should not be affected by an overnight construction project that will close Highway 37 between the raceway and Vallejo.

The California Department of Transportation will undertake an overnight paving project this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The 12-mile stretch of Highway 37 between the raceway and the Wilson Ave. overcrossing in Vallejo will be impacted in the following ways:

· Closed Friday at 10 p.m., re-open Saturday by 8 a.m.

· Closed Saturday at 10 p.m., re-open Sunday by 9 a.m.

· Closed Sunday at 10 p.m., re-open Monday by 5 a.m.

Highway 37 west of the raceway will not be closed or otherwise affected by the construction. Those traveling to the raceway using Highway 101 in Marin County will follow the normal route on Highway 37 eastbound, making a left at Highway 121 and into the facility at Gate 1.

Gates do not open until 8 a.m. over race weekend, with on-track action beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and main events set to begin after noon each day.

For fans arriving early, before the highway re-opens, the California Department of Transportation will have highly visible detour signs from the east side of the bay. For those coming from Fairfield-east (Interstate 80), you are encouraged to take the following directions:

· Highway 12 exit toward Napa.

· Right on Highway 29 toward Napa.

· Left at Highway 121. Follow for approximately 15 miles to Infineon Raceway.

For those traveling on Interstate 80 west of Vallejo, you are encouraged to take the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, continue onto Highway 101 north and take the Highway 37 east exit toward Sonoma. Follow for 10 miles, taking a left at Highway 121. Raceway is one-quarter mile up on the left-hand side.

We contacted the local CHP office and pointed out the possible problems associated with the race weekend. They had nothing planned with regards to morning traffic and had assumed it was just a sunday race. Hopefully they have re thought their strategy. They said they were going to talk to Caltrans about moving the sunday re-opening time to 800 like sat.
