Ewww, 3 seconds off the pace...and what's up with Hale a whole 9 seconds off? I had really hoped that they would be able to find more speed than that. Maybe they will by racetime, but the practice time is very limited. Shucks, Rossi is often off by a few seconds in practice and qualifying, and comes back to win the race. Could be that McWilliams could do the same...after all he is a MotoGP star.

Well they are saying the track surface after the repaving is rough and bumpy so the guys with dirt track or motocross experience should do well. Should be challenging on setups

Dang, almost 4 seconds off the pace. By starting back in 14th place, the Buell will probably be lucky to even be on TV, as they rarely show anything other than the lead battle.

The mid-pack wars (Warr's) will be interesting for those at the track though, and I will be following the streamers for the updates. But I think it is wishful thinking for any hopes of a podium. By sitting out all of those races, it really hurt the development of the XBRR so far.

I will still be pulling for McWilliams though...ah, except for the lack of funding and support from the home office, he could have been a contender! Go Buell!

Consolation prize: At least I can be rooting for one front runner on Sunday...my home-boy Nicky. Nicky is 26 points ahead of Rossi for the championship, and I think he is the odds-on favorite for winning this race. Tonight's broadcast of MotoGP qualifying will tell us a lot about how he is running. Go Nicky!

Saturday AM FX practice results...

1. DiSalvo 1:28.263
2. Hayes 1:28.318
3. Gobert 1:28.565
.
.
.
7. McWilliams 1:30.270
.
.
.

19. Hale 1:34.663

7th place is a whole lot better than 14th. It is too bad he didn't qualify there. With lap times in the 1:30s maybe some of the leaders will screwup and allow McWilliams to score higher this afternoon.

Jezza has dropped 2 seconds off of his qualifying time.

The man learns tracks at an amazing rate. He'll be going faster at the end of the race than the start of it.

Remember he has very few laps of this track to his credit. He's still finding his way.

It is fun to watch a really top notch guy at work, gives me a better appreciation of how good the MotoGP guys really are and how absolutly special Rossi is.

8th, way to go. Not too bad cracking the top ten in only the third appearance on the track. Looks liek Jezza had some sort of issue with the bike as his lap times are inconsistant.

Mike Hale retired early, don't know why.

1. Eric Bostrom
2. Jason DiSalvo
3. Josh Hayes
4. Ryan Andrews
5. Michael Barnes
6. Ty Howard
7. Aaron Gobert
8. Jeremy McWilliams

Hale didn't complete the first lap. Unknown reason.

It was pretty wild to see that he had picked of five guys in one lap..

Once gobert got by, there was a big gap, and no need to push to bring it home.

Go Buell! I think we can be happy with an 8th place, as long as the MoCo will continue funding for the rest of the races so that development can continue. They are way behind the top competition because they missed so many races. I wonder how much of the Buell will be shown on SPEED TV? Will Freddie and Co. even acknowledge the Buell?

Mid-Ohio, two weeks. McWilliams, most likely Crevier, Hale, and perhaps others.

We've got more work to do, but it's definitely moving in the right direction. Jeremy's current bike would have taken the Rolex at Daytona, but everyone else is getting better too -- particularly the Erion Hondas. For the XBRR, the 16.5 Pirellis are much better, the plates in the slipper last sprint-race distance and quite-a-bit more, and the suspension is moving toward the point where we just have to turn knobs. There's more to come, mostly on engine/rider interface issues. Lap times will be whittled down one refinement at a time.

I think McWilliams runned the xb12r and the other hale bike was listed as a XB9R.
if this was true, why didn't they run the XBRR.
is buell planning somehting BIG with the XBRR?
ha ha for all the haters, did anyone count how many jappy bikes McWilliams passed?

McWilliams was on a XBRR.

"ha ha for all the haters, did anyone count how many jappy bikes McWilliams passed?"

To use an excuse often used here for Buell, they were true privateers, not factory teams like the XBRR

You could definitely hear Jeremy amongst the il4's out there.

Is there any word on what happened to Hale? Someone should have an inside line.

it was a xbr12 that came out in 8th place and the other bike that dnf was an xb9r which i don't know why they did that. but buell and the privateers know what they are doing so they must have their reasons.
it probably also means that they have improved on the xbrr and they wnat it to be ready for a later time.
imagine" buell" podium finish
sweet
excellent job McWilliams. you were incredable.

Buell2001b,McWilliams was on a XBRR,they have to list it as a XB12R or they couldn't race it.AMA website says Hale was on a 12R,not sure if it was a XBRR.

No it was an XBRR with an XB12R tail.

Not much of a stretch. The original prototypes had 12r tails.

The RR's at daytona still had firebolt undertails.

I think Mike Hale was on an XBRR too.
