That sounds like a hot motor Terry, do you have a dyno chart on that?

Buelldyno guy sez:

"There were a lot of changes between a 120 hp 1210 and this 140+ hp 1350..."

Reliability is the first casualty in that kind of increased power for these motors. They really are kind of delicate, which is why all of the structural changes for the RR. Having a rider that would is the size of a good inside linebacker for a college football team adds even more challenges! I hope you sell your drag bike soon and can get yours soon...but in the meantime, good luck! We will be pulling for you.

We made the decision last night and will not be at Laguna, as we just got the engine parts back for our supplier. Sam and I the worked on the chassis and frame adding more fuel volume and it is all complete. We finished assembling the new crank and cases-transmission last week and needed the engine parts by Saturday to make the show. Got them Monday evening and there just is not enough time to get it built and tuned. It's a new engine size for us and since we are using the Micron Pipe we needed to bump the fuel pressure up to 450 kPa and then modify the map Glenn Vetch sent us.

I need to let all of you guys know that Henry Duga and his Buell Race Department have been a great support. He called me three times last week asking "How it was going and if there was anything he could do to help?" Glenn Veatch spent as long as I needed on the phone going over the new map he sent me and what to look for in the cells at max cylinder fill, to get max torque. Thanks Again You Guys and also Thanks to all of you who wished us well. . ... Terry

PS. ... Well at least now I have four weeks before the next AFM "Open Twins" at Infineon and we will be ready. ... Terry

Terry:

Smart move and I commend your wisdom in knowing what you can and can not do.

My Father, after he retired, became a successful professional gambler and I always remember him going to the track and betting like 2 of 12 races.

When I asked him why, he told me that betting every race was for tourists. If he didn't think he had a reasonable chance to succeed his $$ stayed in his pocket.

That's the way you make a million bucks betting ponies.

: )

Well done and we'll be looking forward to seeing you at Infineon.

Terry,

Sorry to hear that news. Maybe Buell could loan the Vallejo Performance team a XBRR again?

Anything to get more Buells on the grid. More camera time.
More exposure. More sales.

Just spoke to race folks, be aware (for television schedule reasons) that the FX race has been moved to 12:05PM, just afternoon.

Speed is still showing Superbike at Noon Pacific Time Sunday, followed by Supersport at 1PM, MotoGP at 2PM, and Formula Xtreme at 3PM, local.

So what you are talking about is the race on Saturday has moved, and not the viewing of it on Sunday, right?

That is correct.

The Saturday FX race, originally scheduled for something like 3:45PM, will now go off at 12:05PM.

I just read that Jeremy McWilliams is practicing at Buttonwillow near Bakersfield today and tomorrow.

That is good because FX practice is only 35 minutes on Friday morning, and then 30 minutes to qualify on Friday afternoon.

I chased it down to a RRW link.

A better question is what's a good lap for an FX bike around Button Willow?

McWilliams at Buttonwillow news ...

This was posted on Motorcycle.com this morning...

Oh it is On McWilliams is Ready for Laguna
Posted on Wednesday, July 19 2006 @ 08:04:07 PDT
By johnnyb

A highly placed source within Buell racing who probably wishes to remain anonymous but I forgot to ask, really, who did not used to be the Editor of Cycle magazine, reports following a day of testing that the XB-RR of McWilliams is running better than ever.

Also, the XB-RR will be running new, 16.5-in. wheels at Laguna, as well as Pirelli's Grade A rubber--tires never available to the team before.

McWilliams has asked for a slipper clutch from day one. Now he has one, and it reportedly works well.

Finally, McWilliams has ridden Laguna Seca before, on Kenny Roberts' GP bikes.

Look for a Buell on the FX podium, haters. The race, I believe, is schedjed on the Speed channel directly following the GP race in which Rossi will kick all their assets again.

Jim4media on another forum:

"The question I have is whether they a using a forged magnesium 16.5 inch wheel or cast aluminum wheel.

Someone needs to bring their bathroom scale to Laguna Seca tomorrow, along with a digital camera."

Cast magnesium -- not bad for a 6 week turnaround. And the front wheel with bearings AND a ZTL disc (same size as production XB) weighs 9.5 pounds. Pirelli is concentrating on 16.5 tires for WSB racing, and they represent the best the Italian company makes.

guess that answer the questions of what kind of brakes they are using ;)

Did that mad Italian Roberto Marchisini do the wheel?

Saw a "Buell Racing" truck headed west on I40 just East of Flagstaff on Sunday afternoon : ).

The thought occurred to me that it may be a good advertising idea to buy space on the side of semi trailers... Maybe not? I wish I was on the bike though... I would have turned around and caught up and given a thumbs up at the least : ).

Anonymous,

That new wheel sounds like good news. Best of luck with it tomorrow, and Saturday.

If the wheel is 16.5", and the rotor is the same size... Did the mounting position of the rotor move relative to the edge of the wheel?

I'd love to see a pic...

Thanks for the news Anony : ).

I'd love to see a picture also, but to be clear, the rotor is 14.76 inches not 16.5 inches.

Going from 17" to 16.5" would entail at most a reduction of just 1/4" on the radius. Looks like that could be accommodated a couple of different ways. I'd be very interested to see how Buell did it though. : )
