Got the bike out from it's Winter cocoon and both my front turn signals, the stems have cracked and are drooping, has anyone had any luck repairing? Would it just be better to get new? I thought maybe using heat shrink tape or something to repair. it's a 2008 XB12XT Thoughts? |

I've not found any repairs that worked permanently. I've tried making splint using some wood and excessive amounts of tape but they didn't last long, the vibrations eventually win. Eventually I cave and get replacement signals. Aftermarket will be cheaper, but I find many of them to be ugly looking or not as visible as stock, but that will vary from model to model. |

Got similar type of indicators on my Ducati (sort of 'finned) that I got through a 3500km tour sticking the pieces of rubber together with superglue and then wrapping with self-amalgamating electrical insulating tape. You have to really stretch that stuff on so it sticks to itself and it wraps into the gaps between the fins. After the trip I saw that the superglue had given way even though it was still 'captured' by the rubber tape and I too bought a new one - jv |

I changed my Uly mirrors for 1125CR mirrors (with LED signals), and mounted driving lights where the signals used to be (wired to come on with the high beam). |

I found some Honda turn signal quite similar to the ones which came on the 2010 model and switched them. |

Mine went limp last fall. On the Uly and the Blast. Front and rear. 8 seemed kind of pricy so I wrapped them with hi quality inch and a half masking tape, then wrapped that with high quality stretch locking black tape. Holding thus far. |

Ozone eats rubber. Electrical arcing like from motor brushes and welding make Ozone. Are you guys storing your bikes near a source of O3? None of my bikes have messed up their rubber stalks (Yes, I know I am jinxing myself!) |

sunlight also dries out the material, making it more prone to fracturing as opposed to bending...my Uly stuff is OK but I can't keep a signal on my S2 to save my life. Finally gave up and velcroed the rears into the bag cutouts, and put fronts on that came from .... my Uly. |

In my situation at least, every turn signal I've needed to replace was due to an unintended experiment involving Newton's first law and a hard surface. |

Age is a bitch. No doubt. Probably why these are failing all at the same relative time. Following directly in my physical foot steps. |

Would rotating them occasionally from one side to the other suspend the droop? |

If your turn signals remain erect for more than four hours, see a mechanic right away. |

Gia, just like tires....rotating will not stop dry rot. Most plastic and rubber parts will deteriorate with age unless vacuum sealed in a mayonnaise jar away from all sources of light, air, and temperature changes. |

I throw all my turn signals away as soon as they start to fail and employ god's turn signals (my left hand). No cops have ever given me shit and i have ridden without signals in all of the lower 48, maybe i've just gotten lucky. -Mike |
