SIDI COURIER DISCOVERY RAIN MX TRIALS MOTOCROSS OFF ROAD LEATHER BOOTS.  I have just bought my second pair of these boots, which are now waterproof, as I got a good deal on them. My old ones have worn off the metal tips and gear/brake pads. The soles have worn down but they have been in continues use for over five years now and all parts including the lining are still good and they can be re-soled if you want as well. This is a REAL leather boot (not Lorica or split grain rubbish) and, once you break them in, are super comfy boots that last for many years. I have had many bike boots and these are the best even for what they cost. This is a Rooster neck tube made for the sailing world. The grey part, in this case, is waterproof. It can be used as either a neck tube, balaclava or even a Bennie hat. On a bike you can use is as just a tube or a balaclava and works great either way. Great design, a good price and very comfy.  | ||

Love my Combat lights, probably 7 or so years old. saved my foot/ankle in a 50 mph laydown. I just re-soled them with the grey sole like yours.. wish I had gone with the original amber, they were easier to walk in.  can't wait to tell my wife about the "shoe" thread on Big Bad and Dirty! | ||

Yes it is handy to be able to fix them if you want to. "the "shoe" thread". Maybe there should be one but not what she thinks. No heels. For me boots on a bike are protection not looks. In the past I had two pairs of Sidi Vertigo boots but unknown to me they were made of Lorica. This is a fake leather material and a bit like painted cardboard. After a prang I found a half hole in the boot from the rh peg. Also the boots would be worn out in 18 months. SIDI COURIER boots are now waterproof as this was the only fault with the old ones and part of the reason for my new ones. I can not fault them. The only thing is because the leather is so thick it needs time and a lot of dubbing to break them in. Something that may put people off them in the shop but it is not an issue. O and the other thing. Lorica does NOT mold to your foot shape like real leather does. My Vertigo boots NEVER did and were not comfy to walk in at all. I have walked 8 hours in my courier boots before with no problems. | ||

I wear RED WING Steal Toe Logger boots made in the USA most of the time. I also wear a pair of Matterhorns and a pair of Danners, all US made, depending on the season. I know they are not MC specific, but work well and fit into my budget. I found them all on ebay either lightly used or new with out tags. I'd probably buy a pair or two of Aerostitch boots if money was less of a factor. | ||

I wear White's Smokejumpers most of the time, otherwise Chippewa Rallye boots. The Smokejumpers are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I'm conflicted about pants, I've worn chaps for years but I'd like better protection. Have one pair of Ballistic 7.0's by Joe Rocket but they're HOT... | ||

Quite satisfied with the TCX Infinity boots, had them for 3 plus years, worn at least 200 days a year. Re-soled this past summer with Vibram lug soles, and had a few areas of stitching re-worked, but to me,worth the cost. . .  | ||

Props to the Chippewas, just got my 2nd pair of Ralleys. Sturdy and all leather. Not fond of Sci-Fi plastic bits on my boots. | ||

Here's a more accurate photo of the Infinity boots, well worn but still functional.  Actually had ordered a set of the Combat Lites, but after waiting for 4 months on backorder opted to repair/upgrade these and get a few more years out of them. . . | ||

They all look and sound good and much along the lines of the Sidi boots. I have not seen any in the UK though. In the past I have had lots of boots but none lasted much past a years use. In the end I bought these because of there proven road use by London bike Couriers. I will use my new waterproof boots for winter/ touring and the old ones for the rest of the year. Between the both of them I should be ok for close to another 10 years riding. (Message edited by uly_man on January 17, 2014) | ||

"This is a Rooster neck tube made for the sailing world" I could easily see that being part of our skiing world. With it's waterproof-ness, it might do well in the cold wet snow. Few things better than the items that pop up on this board that are used "not for its intended purpose". Gotta love BB & D. | ||

I bought a pair of boots in England in the early 80s. They said Daytona on them and zipped up the back. I miss them. | ||

The picture does not show this to its full advantage. The tube is in fact near twice as long as the gray (waterproof) part. The other part is "uncoated" fleece and is what allows you to turn it into a Bennie hat and balaclava as well. On a bike you can, if you want to, pull this part over your head and under your chin before putting on your helmet. This stops the wind from blowing around your neck/ face, keeps your head warm and is thin enough for you not to notice it under your helmet. |
