I had to share with those who would appreciate this....
2008 xb12stt which was never even titled by the dealer.... it has been slightly abused you may say but I plan to simply make it street legal again .... and ride it .... and ride it... and ride it... this is a permanent addition to my Buell herd, of Colorado and US racing history ... I couldn't be happier. Happy Holidays All -pete |

That is cool! I like the little roll bar on the oil cooler. Tell me about the tires..... |

Vern - Tires...both are Michelin .... Front is Michelin Pilot... i've seen it used for Supermoto racing.
Rear is Michelin Power One.
Oil Cooler Roll Bar i noticed right away also .... nice touch, even it has touched the ground it appears... did its job
Front tire says on the side not for highway use.... huh... any reason??? |

It is likely not DOT certified. There are a bunch of regulations it needs to meet to be road legal, either they just never got the tire certified or it doesn't meet all the requirements for legal highway use. Without knowing more about that model tire I couldn't say if it would be fine to use on the street or not, many race tires require a boatload of heat to stick, which you wouldn't get on normal street duty, but I can't vouch for that tire. Rain performance is another potential concern, there is a small chance that it is a tire intended for only dry surfaces. Great find on that bike, indeed is a piece of history. |

Were the red wheels standard on that model? If they were added later, is the rear a 3 bearing setup? |

RED was not standard.. black was These are not 3 bearing "2010" wheels... they were off of a 2007 model .... to my knowledge the only year that color was offered Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the stock wheels as a back up set.... |

I'm pretty sure but I'd like to ask anyway..... Comfort Kit and heated grips??? Both should be able to be installed without a problem.....yes??? Right side air scoop would be nice as the bike was raced without the air box cover to allow more air..... Living in Colorado heated grips extends the riding season.... Thoughts??? |

That bike was a nice find.Be fun to have a pic of it tearing up pikes peak with the gravel flying! I'm using Moose Brothers grip heaters from denniskirk.com part #0631-0046. Easy to install and been keeping my hands warm for over five years on the Uly. You just remove the grips, install the grids, apply some grip glue, put the grips back on and wire them up. |

Do a search for Buell key blanks on eBay. You'll find blanks that are similar to the Pegasus key. Lots of options for heated grips: OEM, Oxfords, Polly Heaters, etc. I installed Polly Heaters wired to the OEM switch when my OEM grips died. I like them, and it's a very sanitary install, thanks to the OEM switch. I had the Oxford Heaterz on my V-Strom. They are great heated grips as well. |

"Anyone have a good source for keys... Id love to still use the Buell blue pegasus keys but i'm not sure they are still available and lord knows they will be $40 a key or something stupid... What are others doing???" Buell XBs use ZADI locks which are Italian made. They are also used on other bikes/scooters as well and oddly enough on my new German made MZ Baghira bike as well. You can buy the blanks but they are not cheap and if you want the Pegasus key you have to buy a pair from HD. I bought a pair from HD and the cost was only a little more than DIY. |

Ignition Ilco x270 or Ignition Silva zd23rcp (Plastic head) Hard Case Ilco/Silva also makes keys for Hard Bags ie, ilco 1637 fits Givi, not sure about HB Verify numbers are correct, any good lock shop can xref if you have a key. Cheers |

Comfort Kit and heated grips??? Both should be able to be installed without a problem.....yes??? I put the right side scoop from the comfort kit on my STT in about three minutes, but I didn't buy the rest of the kit so can't say for sure. Fairly certian, not positive. I put the OEM grips on mine. I like the OEM ones, they're made by Magura (designed by the guy who owns Hot Grips when he worked for them)and the work great. Nice thing is they come with the OEM right side switch pod so it looks totally factory. It takes a minimal amount of effort as it is not fully plug and play. Get in touch with Al at American Sport Bike he has a wiring diagram that he can turn you on to . |

What a great find. I always loved the Pike's Peak grand prix since you had to have a machine and tires that worked in dirt and pavement. That's what made it interesting to me. I took my Uly up it early in the morning the week after the race. The skid marks in the braking area were still quite evident. Since I was all alone I was able to wring the neck of the Uly on both surfaces and had an absolute ball!! Now that it's all paved it's just not the same. I'm glad I got to experience it before and your machine is also a testament to what it was! |

Ilco x270 work just fine. I have two spare keys for the uly, and they both perform great. |

The best-looking XB was always the TT and that is the best-looking TT i've seen. I have got the same Touratech oil cooler guard on my X. Merry Christmas. |

Skip the keys and install a Motogadget M-Lock Wireless Key. Probably cheaper in the long run. I plan on installing one on my cafe fighter ! http://store.revivalcycles.com/products/motogadget -m-lock-wireless-key# |

Nathan ,your stt project looks nice! I have had a 06 stt for a couple of months ,it was a salvaged bike with only 9000 miles (Damn what looked that bike ugly) I did a rebuild with some parts from my other xb and a xb-r tail section to had it checked at the dmv for getting the title back. But i could not reach the ground on that thing and it was still in rough shape ,so i sinned and sold the frame with title ,complete fork setup and the muffler The engine and other leftovers from it are going into an 03 xb frame i did find. I did find this for who is interested http://www.motosupply.com/vendor-catalogs-touratec h-touratech-buell-xb12x-ulysses-cooler-protection- p-955.html but don't know if its up to date. |

Share what you think of that filter. I've been interested in those but haven't spent the bucks yet. Either no one has them , or not enough time with it. A neighbor has one on a dyna, but he's not putting the miles on the bike to tell a tale. The cost is up there but imagine 17 years with a road king and 14 years with a sporster. 5 years with my 12x. Lots of filters in the trash. |

I've been working for Dan at NRHS for a while now - Dan uses them on his and Cil's Sportys and the 2 Bonneville bikes. I've seen a few on the shelf going out to customers too. I haven't made the change myself tho yet. Zack |

Zack- NRHS is listed as a dealer one of many in the denver area.... After reading about them, I'm really interested. Since this is a bike I won't be letting go.....ever. If you plan to keep a bike or put a lot of miles on a bike it seems worth it in many many ways.... Increased flow, claimed increased horse power.... If it works out I'll likely pick one up for the Uly. |

On a "long-haul" timeframe, it is definitely a cost-effective option. If/when I pull the trigger, it'll be the 1125R first. Her filters are 2-3X the cost for the Uly. Z <edit>BTW, I have some pix of the TT's front end on an 1125CR. HC-HD's rider was scared of the Rotax so it went back on the TT. Pretty sure he took 2nd that year.
