Will a 150 rear tire safely fit? I know its been done but can it work?

I'm considering the pirelli scorpion rally.

"I know its been done but can it work" ???

Really ??

If you are that nervous about trying something "you know has been done", maybe you should just go to the HD shop and have them put on only approved stuff.

Just sayin.

I don't know, but why? I would say No, could be wrong....

More off road or cost, both?

Men can wear women's dresses, its been done, but it doesnt work.

Just sayin.

Kag there is a much wider selection of adv tires at 150, and there a lot cheaper than the 180s.

The 150s ive seen cut it real close to the rim lip, I dont want a blow out from striking a rock.

Run a tube.

Or buy a dirtbike.

Your Uly rim is *designed* to run a 180. Simple as that.

If you run a tire that much narrower, wouldn't it mash it out flat almost like a car tire?
Your handling will turn to crap even if you do get it to hold air inside.

Years ago, I was stuck far from home with a nail in my X1 tire. The shop only had 160 tires. (X1 use 170)
It held air fine and was OK on the highway on the way home but spooky handling til I replaced it.

I used to have a 150 that I would mount for off-road use. It will seat and stay put, but the rim is pretty exposed.

Now that they make a 180 in the TKCs, I wouldn't go with a 150, but it can be done so long as you don't intend to imitate Marc Marquez once you get back on the pavement.

I'm going to try a set of the new Metzeler Karoo 3 in the 170/60-17 when my Uly is due for a new set of shoes...but that may be a while from now. They are only 0.5in narrower than the stock tire so it should fit easily.

Man,
There are a lot of things I'll skimp on or screw around with, but when I'm leaning over on a corner or flying down the road at 80mph I don't want to be thinking "yeah the buell engineers created an optimum balance of weight and performance based on years of experience, track testing, and advanced finite element analysis simulation, but screw that, i put on different tires 'cause i felt like it." But that's just me.
