What makes the check engine light come on, and bike running fine(Stock ecm remapped with Micron maps, k&n air filter and micron full exhaust)? The light stays on it doesent flash bas? O2? Thanks. (Message edited by pontlee77 on December 12, 2013) | ||

O2 sensor will do that. Have you checked for DTCs? Also cracked solder joints on the ECM circuit board can cause it too. | ||

There are a couple dozen parameters that will trigger the CEL, you need to check what code it is spitting out to give you a clue as to what is wrong. | ||

what are the DTCs? There is no code at all, after 5-10 miles riding it comes on and stays on. | ||

Pontlee, Could be that your oxygen sensor is causing the problem and that would be DTC 13. It typically won't come on until the heat sensor in the rear head tells the ECM to start letting the O2 sensor run the show. That's what happened on my 06 and I eventually changed out that O2 sensor which entailed a 7/8ths crows foot wrench and moving the fan out of the way to get at the sensor. Hook up the ECMSpy to ascertain the code and then use the service number to see what the code deals with. No sense having us guess here when you need to do the ground work first. | ||

Short across pins 1 and 2 on the test connector located by the left seat rail then turn the key on and it should flash a code. | ||

I have the ecm spy, and access to a couple of ecms i have at home so i'll see if any of the others are better, and don't show a code, thanks for all the options to sort this out. | ||

O2 was the error code, now a question: as i have the hear shroud, is going to be a bugger to get to the O2 sensor, can i turn it off via ECM SPY and leave it like that? (until the day i decide to change it) Thanks. When ever any one of you come to Spain there will always be a really cold Beer or Hot Coffee or Tea waiting for you. | ||

My '06 Uly would do that periodically, too, it was cracked solder joints on the PCB connector terminals in the ECM. That symptom stopped occurring after I fixed the PCB. | ||

The rear O2 sensor plugs into the sub loom that runs over the rear cylinder head. The wires can rub through and short to Earth of the cylinder head/frame and/or break. This can also happen to the other wires which are from the TPS, etc. This is a know design issue that was fixed on the latter bikes with a plastic loom guide. It is worth checking this first as it is free/ easy to do. Next check the sensor is changing its output voltage. You can use ECM-SPY or other to do this. Or a volt meter. Best to be sure the sensor is at fault since it is a Bosch item and they last well. | ||

I'm aware of that, on the next ride i'll know if the ecm is the one causing the problem, i can always change it out for one of the others, but before the ecm had the chance to have the seat resting on it, i made a piece to protect it, thanks for the help. | ||
