I know you don't get this in U.S.A. but there was a lot of interest in this bike on advrider. If you could get it over your side of the pond, would anyone prefer it to their Ulysses? I ask because I'm thinking of doing this very thing. My Uly is my second bike now, to a Suzuki B-King and i think the Husky would be great fun as an Algarve bike. Algarve is the most southern area of Portugal and I live there.

Put that thing in adventure bike mode with reasonable price, oh yeah! The videos are freaking awesome and when first came out, someone had allready tricked one out for dirt service. Kinda pointed that way in 80's with a xc 250. Best bike ever had, 12" travel front, 13" travel rear, could run over anything. State enduros, hare scrambles, mucho fun and damn reliable. Yeah, I've been a husky fanatic for years and watching them as well as buell.

A 600-ish cc husky pulled up next to us on our Ulys on 287 near Fort Collins on Sunday. They seem about as elusive as Ulys, I'd not seen one since I was a kid and the neighbors had one.

It looked like a ton of fun for some of the off-road stuff around here.

Don't forget that Husky haas been bought by KTM and this model has been killed off completely. The majority of engine parts are shared with BMW so that should be a problem but other spars could be hard to find very quickly, especially as it was such a short lived model.

They're supposed to be committed to producing spares for ten years. It's a shame because, according to 900 forums, they are very reliable and go like the stink.

Which model has died? The nuda or the 650 mentioned in previous post. I was looking at the 650 but waiting to see if the 900 crossed over to the states.

All the current Husqvarna models are effectively finished, unless KTM decide to continue with them basically. They have said that they will ONLY build Husky off road bikes in future so the 900 project is definitely dead in the water now.

I would doubt any comittment to supply parts for 10 years from them.

What do you reckon then, Trojan? Should I keep the Uly? It's done just short of 20K miles. It's benn well maintained. It's got your belt tensioner, Maz's grease nipple on the output shaft and his airbox mod and a K&N filter. Other than a snapped drive belt and a leaking oil cooler (both replaced under warranty) it's never gone wrong (H-D Chingford did powerhose the electrics for me when they cleaned the oil off it when they did my oil cooler and it packed in down the road a bit later ).It's the most comfortable bike I've ever been on and is only now used locally down here in sw Portugal as my main bike is a B-King.

At least there IS an aftermarket industry for the Ulysess models, unlike the Nuda. I loved the idea of the Husky when it was announced, but wouldn't have one now due to the short model life and lack of support from KTM unfortunately.

Wouldn't stop me looking at the KTM Adventure or BMW GS1200 though.........

I think you're right. I'd love a Nuda. As an Algarve only bike it would be perfect. Wouldn't have a 1200GS (I used to own a 1100GS, which was great) and I also had a 950Adv (another great bike) until some Essex boy pulled out in front of me. I've decided I'm going to keep the Uly. There's a very good H-D mechanic just down the coast. Swedish. Ex-Hell's Angel and I mean a proper one.

Can anyone direct me to a link to Maz's grease fitting mod? Sorry to go off topic a bit.

Sorry, I can't find it and Maz doesn't post out. However Black Bear H-D sell it, after going up to Maz's to see what it was all about. I would imagine they charge more. You could ring them if you're in England. Sorry I can't be more help.

It would be a shame to see Husqvarna go away, even if they have only been making motorcycles since '03.

Saw an article once on husky v twins from early 1900's. Incredible machines . Prototypes were destroyed in fire and that was end of that. Someone recreated from some type of info another replica. I have tried to find article againbut no luck to date. Often wondered what happened to husky, in 80's, as cycle shack- houston, they sold every husky that come in. Guys in shop even raced. Just got caught up with changing economy I guess

Lately I have seen more Husqvarna chain-saws than motorcycles.

I had a Husky 250 a lifetime ago. It was a hoot, when it ran.
Still don't understand how a 2-stroke can run.. much less how to make them run better.
