Jstav2012... thanks! I just burned up all the available flash in the 1220 switching to floats and trying to add pithy messages to the LCD display... so it looks like I'm upgrading chips. MPLAB X IDE rocks by the way, nice work! |

Hrm. Just tried sprintf to a float. MPLAB X IDE still rocks. XC8 mostly rocks, except for sprintf to a float. |

Yes, I had conversations with Aerostitch. Great people to work with both personally and professionally and I can't recommend them highly enough. Once the economy started to tank, it was obvious to both them and I that it wasn't the right time to invest developing this into a commercial product. And my design wasn't quite ready for a mainstream product. The main obstacle at this point would be packaging and manufacturing. Mainly packaging. That's where there aren't any cheap and easy ways to do something scalable. I'm redoing the design again pretty much for fun, putting together the best parts of two different nice versions I had, and sneaking in a pretty cool new feature that is born of frustrations people here on badweb have experienced with their motorcycles. Then I may just open source the software, or sell them out of the garage. Or maybe both. I haven't decided yet. |

I gotta tell you Bill I LOVE mine. I'm not sure if you got my email a while back but I have friends with contacts here: www.heatdemon.com You idea is too good to sit on the shelf. Virtually everyone I tell about mine wants one. |

I was busy with work crises when I got that note... I'll ping them when I get this next version working (doing it over the holidays). Parts should actually arrive today actually. Polly is the company that is crazy for not snapping this thing up... I emailed them but they never went anywhere with it. This makes their great but fundamentally limited product awesome. Thanks for the contacts and encouragement! |
