Bought a 2010 Uly last weekend .... I have a 2006 which i love and at the moment do not intend to sell... my question is this....

the bike has the EBR ECM upgrade... and Madstrada front windshield bracket...

#1) Has anyone had more dash shaking at idol or cold start due to upgraded bracket??? ( dealer is blaming shaking on heavier bracket...)

#2) Bike has noticeable shaking when decelerating below 2000rpm... is this possibly due to EBR ECM .... ??? Motor mounts all check out and dealer went through everything saying "it is a great bike with normal shaking associated with the motor and bike".... my 2006 is sooooo much smoother....

I only took this to the dealer due to engine light coming on during my ride home after paying cash for the bike... previous owner is being great and backing up the purchase... light didn't trip a code (???)so I look like a idiot ... it died twice also... may be old gas ??? or low octane... ??? elevation gain... I live in the rockies.... anyway...

Thoughts anyone... love these bikes and just want some long ride confidence... in my 2006 I have it ... wierd to be gun shy with a 2010....

Thanks in advance -

Cheers - pete

If it is a real 10 bike it will have a O2 sensor on the front pipe. Does it?

I notice a lot more dash movement when I put my cee bailey windshield on in winter. So yes it is possible the madstad setup is causing your gauge shake.

From experience, the Madstad bracket and / or windshield will amplify the instruments shake more than stock if not braced.

Regarding the shaking, the first thing that came to my mind also was the motor mounts. But the check out so I don't know off hand.

There is definitely a problem if the engine light came on and died multiple times. I sure hope they are going to stand behind your purchase.

Didn't purchase from a dealer... from a forum member actually... so that is a plus and with no code... he does have to cover a bill it seems....

YES..it is a 2010... and yes it has the O2 sensor... i asked that they look into that, but heaven forbid that the customer know something about the bikes... got some push back... and it is a Buell "friendly" dealer...

good feed back on the cluster shaking due to Madstrada....

below 2000rpm with good motor mounts...???

smooth as silk at 80mph ....

thanks so far all

The Madstad brackets would shake if mounted to the stock flyscreen. Madstad sells an aluminum flyscreen just for their brackets and it will keep it from shaking.

Maybe your front tire is cupped, unless the shaking you write of is at a standstill.

Check and make sure all of your muffler straps are intact and tight.

my instrument cluster hits a resonance just below 2000 rpm where it shakes like it wants out of the mounts. This is on top of it lugging when trying to pull away gently; I usually just rev up to just over 2000 and use the clutch more when taking off. My solid mount Sportster actually shakes less when in 1st gear below 2000.

I have a California scientific windshield that mounts to the flyscreen screws, and not a separate bracket. I also have the stock 2009 ECM and I don't have the xb9 primary.

Tires look really good but were low in pressure....and the shaking is on cold starts significantly and then anytime decelerating below 2000rpm....

I will check the muffler straps...

I frequently ride with other Ulys. The '06 and '08 bikes with the Madstat brackets and larger windshields shake something awful at stop lights compared to my '06 with the stock small windscreen.

My 09 shakes pretty bad at about 2500rpm.
Everywhere else it's pretty smooth.
Not nearly as smooth as my 1125R, but the Uly is part tractor...

A bigger w/s will only exacerbate the issue.

Hmmmm, ever notice how
Harley Davidson and
Massey Ferguson have the same amount of letters and syllables?

I wonder...

Oh, what I would give for my '08 Uly to be as smooth as my '03 XB9S, much less an 1125! I've thought more than once about finding and '08/'09 XB9 engine, building it with the highest-quality big bore kit I can find (as big as it can reasonably go while keeping the 9's stroke), and creating an XB9XT. The goal would be the smoother, sweeter nature of the 9 with the power of the 12. Surely it is possible -- right after I win the lottery, of course...
