I bought a set of Touratech pegs from a fellow BadWebber. I had educated myself on these pegs beforehand, and was aware that they sit a bit forward compared to stock, bringing one's feet closer to the shifter and brake levers. I might shorten the shift lever as documented elsewhere. They don't fold in as close as the stockers -- see pictures below. I worry that increases the likelihood of a broken footpeg mount when the bike naps (which is often). Is there anyone with Touratechs that can comment?   | ||

It appears you could spend a few minutes on a grinder removing some material at the stop point and increase the movement considerably without affecting the strength. If it worries, you, that'd be an easy solution. The Touratech pegs appear to be made of stainless or plated steel and I'd expect they're much lest prone to breakage if they do hit something; they'd probably just bend. | ||

Good suggestion. I'll look at it and see if I can grind down the stops a little. I'd rather the pegs break/bend than transfer that energy to the mount, which I suspect is more expensive and harder to source  | ||

A few minutes with the angle grinder made the pegs tuck in as well as the stockers! The notch made the spring a little less difficult as well!   (Message edited by dtaylor on February 02, 2013) | ||

It's a valid concern. When I was assaulted by the Corolla, the entire cast support bracket broke but the footpeg was fine. Which was unfortunate, as the footpeg was $15 and the bracket was much more. |
