Well I got to stir the oil up in both bikes on Saturday. 65 degrees in St. Louis and sunny to boot! Took the Geezer Glide out in the cooler morning air and found some breakfast and then rode the back farm roads that I use to ride when I was a kid. Made it home as the temps hit 60. Fired up the Uly and went over to a friends property where he built a motocross track. I figured he'd be there but as I tried to climb the hill up to his cabin the rear of the Uly was trading sides back and forth!! I just barely made it to some gravel where I finally got traction and made it on up the hill only to find nobody there! This big thaw just turned the top soil into grease! I made it back out without going down but it sure was entertaining!! I stuck with the asphalt after that and really enjoyed going much faster than in the morning! The next day it made 28 degrees! Welcome to the mid west!

I, on the other hand, have been unable to ride for over two weeks now. Here in the Puget Sound area, we have been experiencing a colder than normal pattern. The early morning temps are 25-30 with fog which of course puts frost all over the road. It just barely hits 32 by mid day, then quickly cools again. As I am a fan of traction, the Uly is sitting in the garage hooked up to the battery tender and as useful to me as glass hammer.

I am growing extremely cranky.

I hear ya Ski! I've had the Harley out on a couple of 45 degree days and a short ride but I haven't seen the saddle of the Uly in over a month! Too much ice and salt for a fun run! If I have to ride slow I might as well have a barn door in front of me to block the chill!

Kinda cool here in SE Minnesota as well. It was about 12 below zero with a 35 below wind chill on the way to work this morning. I am very thankful that I have a job indoors! I can hardly wait until April!

I have the exact opposite problem last time I went for a ride it was 115F and the Fan died on the Uly.
I get jealous of you guys being able to buy Buell's for a couple of grand when we have to pay over ten grand for the same thing but then we get to ride all year round so I guess it all evens out.

115! Man, I'd rather ride at 40 degrees than 115! I guess it's what you're use to but... I was watching the weather and MInn. is really cold, almost as cold as FARGO!! It's going to hit a balmy 21 tomorrow and then up to low 30's the rest of the week. Possible snow on Thursday so more salt on the roads! I'm with you Motorbike, I can't wait for April either! That's why a 65 degree day in the middle of Winter is good for your soul!

Ain't that the truth! It didn't get quite that high here in western Pa over the weekend but it did hit 52 on Saturday so I fired up the Uly. It's been a while since I was out and it felt really good to be scooting along some nice country roads and watching the winter sun sparkle on the roadside creeks that are usually hidden by foliage.

Sunday was only 32, but it was another nice sunny day so I headed out again. That winter sun really warms the heart

It's even worse when the bike's been laid up for over a month. Just got the Uly in running condition a week ago and just had to ride it to the NY IMS this past Sat. Started out just above freezing in the morning but after the show and lunch what a beautiful ride home in temps approaching 50 (F that is). Looking forward to more nice days ahead.

Well we are finally on the same page as most of you BWB-ers with the spotty winter riding.

Should be warming up to near 60 this weekend here in Colorado which is good for the bikes, maybe not such good news for the skis unless we head north or west. The option of choosing which season we enjoy on a given day is very cool. Got the bikes out a couple times in the past couple weeks. Considering many folks we know warned us about the substantial decrease in winter riding we would face in our relocation to CO from FL, all is good.

Happy rides, all! B.

I woke up this morning to another 8 to 10 inches of fluffy white sunshine to shovel, on top of the 5 inches from the day before. At least the past weekend I was able to get the new Victory Cross Country Tour out for a few loops down into the flats. The dash thermometer showed 60 in Aladdin, Wyoming, but I had to get back before the sun got too low, throwing cold shadows over the water running across the highways on the curves...

Nice bike Daddio! If my Road Glide ever dies that will most likely be the replacement.

We had a cold snap here last night.

I had to forego a short sleeve Carhartt t-shirt for a long sleeve one today. I think the high was mid-60's.

By the weekend, we will be back in to mesh gear and sunscreen for rides.

I like that Victory X-Country Tour. Was contemplating renting one for a summer trip in New England this year. Its still on my radar.

I did the same thing on Monday. Rode the Uly to work in the morning, home at lunch and grabbed the Dyna. Had to take the long way home :-) It was in the Mid 60's but windy...

Hey Smaz, good to hear from you. Later in the year, after the melt, we still need to check out some roads in Arkansas!

Yesterday I went into work at 58 degrees and came out to snow!! Gotta love it!
