Does anyone know if the factory luggage side, top cases, pannier system is still available?

If so is there a product code for the full kit ?

Anyone know if HD give military discount.

Not sure if they are still available, but if it were me, I would explore other options before buying the factory stuff.

They're all right, but I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the bags on my Uly. They seem rather flimsy.

I checked after my accident, and the Harley dealer I was working with said nothing related to luggage is available from Harley anymore, not even the bike mounting hardware.

Which is perhaps for the better anyway. For the price, there are probably better choices then the Hepco stuff. It's a premium brand, but they didn't do such a great job with the particular models that Buell ended up with... the latches are fragile, the opening "stop straps" break, and its easy to get something sticking out stuck when you try and close it (which makes it fussy to close and more likely to break a latch).

I have the factory setup, I was riding with Alex Prior who put together an aftermarket setup with aluminum top open side cases. I think I liked his setup better than mine.

If you can find a set of mounts, you can get the Hepco bags direct from US Hepco distributors, or as take offs from other bikes (the KTM folks often pull the stock Hepco's and put on other cases).

I don't know when you checked, Reepicheep. I bought all the hardware for both the Journey style & the Junior style within the last year. Surdyke online. I really like the Large Juniors on my Uly. I"ve had people say that they will mount on the stock mounts but I didn't have any luck with that. There are pics of my 06 with the juniors in the for sale section.

I was hit by a drunk driver several years ago and the hit tore one of my cases off. My new set of Buell/Heppco leak and not that great. For a good set I actually have a set of Wolfman's that I love

The latches have a lot of reports of failures, though mine are OK, and the internal lid stop straps definitely don't last (you can replace them with bicycle brake cable and ferrules for cheap).
However, the case itself is TOUGH as indicated when I did a hard enough low side to get an ambulance ride and break 8 ribs and a collarbone (in 4 places). The left side bag limited the Uly damage to a $17 front turn signal, a $35 aftermarket handlebar, and accepting some scratches.

Oh, I did end up replacing the bag latch that attaches the bag to the bike. That was about $45 from the US Hepco distributor, who was a place in Washington DC (Capitol Cycle or something like that).

That said, they are pretty big for daily use, so I might opt for some slimmer side bags if I did not have the factory stuff. Maybe the ones Buell put on the short lived police Uly.

I can confirm Murf2's comments. The mounting hardware is available from HD (Surdyke online is an excellent source.) I remember seeing something about the top case no longer being available but I was able to buy the top case mounting hardware plus one of the side brackets from HD.

The luggage is available directly from Hepco-Becker although without the Buell logos.

I didn't try beyond my local dealer. So if others have gotten them the problem must be there.

That's good. Once you get the Uly specific mounts, you have quite a bit of flexibility in terms of what bags go on there.

If I was doing it I would get the XB12P racks they are shaped a little different than the Journey racks and I think the would fit a wider range of bags better than the standard racks.

The XP bags were available at one time in the Moto Guzzi accessory world. The logos were obviously different than Buell but, hey, its a great opportunity to mess with peoples heads.

These are the numbers for the Junior style mounts & bags. I got the mounts from Surdyke & bought the larger size Junior bags on Ebay. I hope these help.

M0253.1AU cross brace
M0254.1AU left bracket
M0255.1AU right bracket
M0232.1AUYT turn signal relocation
M0917.1AU Right case
m0918.1AU Left case.

As I said I didn't get the bags new so I don't know if they come with everything from Harley but I seem to remember it was shown as an assembly, so I think they are complete. I didn't end up using the turn signal relocation bracket, just made a couple brackets. There are also different rear signals with longer leads on the cop bike but I didn't use them.

I believe these are the numbers for the original Journey style mounts.

90089-05Y RH bracket
90085-05Y LH bracket
90090-05Y Cross brace

I also picked up a complete set of racks for my XP from Surdyke about 6-8 months ago. One of the side racks was on back order for a few weeks but other than that, everything was available. Picked up the nuts/bolts/etc. locally at a hardware store.

I highly recommend Surdyke. Ask for Brian, he works the counter and was a great help.

Thanks. Just checked those journey brackets a search brings them up as xt brackets. How are they different to the x brackets.

I also red they limit passenger leg room how is this possible?

My wife sat on the back of an xt and really liked it.

They are different but I believe all the XT's I've seem used the Journeys. They are the ones you usually see. Kinda round looking. The Juniors were were only on the XB12P I believe. They are IMHO a much better bag, better latches, easier to use while on the bike. The Buell Police cases are the smaller of the 2 Junior sizes. The racks are similar but not the same and I believe that they might be closer to the pass pegs. You can get lowered pass pegs tho.

My X came with the regular bags. I sold the off & went to the large Juniors. I guess that says what I think.

I may have some pics at home. I will see & post if I do.

Did you look at my 06 in the "for sale" section? It might give you an idea of foot peg room etc.

The XT brackets are the same as the X brackets.
The Outdoorsman(junior) bags take a different bracket and they where optional and standard on the XP but will work on all Uly's.

Hey thanks for all that ^^^ Murf & Mnrider!.. you guys explained everything quite well.. Mike (Advoutlander) found the PM link and got ahold of me.. I'll be sending him pictures of the set-up tonight. (Also, you were correct in stating the package was factory issue on the police models! I upgraded to the larger 40L bags though)

Hepco Becker made the mounts and the bags for Buell Ulysses. You can still get the mounts - http://www.amotostuff.com/product/650-799-01-01.ht ml and http://www.amotostuff.com/product/650-799-00-01.ht ml

As for cases there is a lot of different Hepco Becker side and top cases to choose from (check their website). You can get them at your local Hepco Becker distributor (again, check their website).

My wife has an XT which came with a 40 liter (I believe) top case, I chose to go for the largest available - 52 liters - for my X, it looks humongous but it holds 2 full face helmets and still has some room left. The only downside is that Hepco Becker stuff isn't cheap.

Good luck.

Hmmm.. I'm not sure where the "leg room" apprehension came from, but there is more than adequate room with all bags Buell used on the Uly. UNLESS.. the bags and side-racks get cross matched (there are only two systems, Journey and Outdoorsman/juniors both with their respective mounts).. or the pillion is 6'8" 280

It is the mounting instructions for the racks and lists the hardware required.

I put Givi brackets on my XT, so I have the entire factory setup collecting dust. Bags, keys, brackets, most if not all the bolts, etc. Make me an offer.

My bike came with the H-B Outdoorsman (aka Junior) panniers, but no toprack. Although the Outdoorsmen are very nice bags, the H-B toprack was difficult to source at the time, and I didn't really like it anyhow (can't flip the beavertail back)

Since I had a collection of Givi cases already, I took the H-B's off and went with Fehling racks all around. I like 'em:
