Okay, now that Touratech has stopped production on Buell spec parts does anyone make extensions to help keep the cold off my hands? I've got heated grips on the bike but the wind just carries away so much heat it can be... unpleasant.

Thanks.

Palmer Products (board sponsor) makes some.

If you didn't mind a bolder look and can afford them, Hippo Hands would give you about as much protection as you can get.

Moose makes some big ones that are cheap and work well. Easy to put on and take off.

Do those fit over the stock handguards?

They should work fine with the stock guards. Mine are over some cheap barkbusters I put on, but the way they mount I think they would work just fine.

They velcro near the bars (which you can see) and I just use cable ties on the bar ends. They are cordura / foam with a stiff but flexible core.

They go on and off in just a minute or two, and pack flat when you aren't using them.

It's that time of year.
My Uly has the Hippo Hands on now.
They will stay until May or so...

As far as the handguards themselves, I added a 3" strip across the top.

Cool, thanks guys!

No hippo hands for me, I understand there's a technique to using them, but they make me nervous just looking at them.

The Moose covers look interesting, I think I'll try the Palmer extensions to start as they are just what I had in mind, then add from there if there's a need. Been thinking of the Palmer brackets for a taller screen anyway.

I made my own that look just like the touratech extensions. I used an old black side number plate off my KTM and cut it with tin snips. sanded the edges and rivet on. sorry I dont have any pics handy but could take some if anyone wants to see.

Any piece of rigid plastic will work.
I made my extensions from a pair of smoke taillight covers for an old Toyota truck I had laying around.
Cut them down with my bandsaw and screwed down with 6-32 screw and nut.

The Hippo Hands take a little getting used to but I am fully comfortable now, after using them last winter.
I can even run the throttle with my left hand when the right goes numb.

Made my own out of plastic. Use to take them off during the summer, now I'm old and lazy, and keep them on all the time.
