2009 XB12X, just over 4k miles. I'm getting the Uly put back together after a crash last April. I apparently locked up the front and went over the handlebars. The bike followed me, probably doing two cartwheels. When I turn the key on, the gauges do their thing and the oil pressure plus the neutral light are on. There is no engine light. When I switch to engine run with the kill switch, I get nothing except I hear a relay pick. I've tried cycling the key on/off to reset the BAS but no joy there! Also the BAS rattles when I've had it off. Any thoughts or suggestions? I've ordered a replacement BAS, it will probably take a week+ to get here. I hooked up ECMSPY to the diag port and got no response. Can you use ECMSPY with this model (2009?) I hooked it up to my 2001 S3T and it worked fine. Thanks, Barry | ||

At least with a 2006, you can run the bike with the BAS disconnected but it'll throw the light. IIRC they rattle anyway, there's a pendulum in there. Here's a couple pics of my worn out BAS, had 60K or so on it, the pendulum pivots wore out and it stopped pendulum-ing:   | ||

I think all the "cool kids" are using tunerpro for the newer bikes. The same cable works. | ||

I didn't get any change when I unplugged the BAS. What is tuner pro? | ||

my bas died twice so i used a set of pliers and broke off the little thˇhings of the bas and now is there but giving a stable current signal so it wont bother me ever again. | ||

Barry, The bike hasn't been used for awhile. Have you checked your battery voltage, key off / key on? | ||

I just got it sorted out. My brake lights and horn were dead, found a blown fuse. Went through the other fuses and found the ignition fuse also blown. Started right up when I fixed that. @ Od_cleaver, I hooked it up to my battery tender a couple of days ago. Thanks for the suggestions, I guess it's ready for a test ride. Barry |
