Never met the man but just wanted his Uly to finally run right so he could finish his adventure. So sad to experience so many problems only to reach your demise. I respect his adventurism and only wish something any of us could have said would have changed his destiny. God bless you my brother.

I've been following this Fellow Uly Rider on his trip around South America, to some places I have been before in the 70's. Traffic in S.A. is Nutz! He who has the largest cojones, has the right of way, saw Mopeds turn Buses! When I was there, I met a fellow from Australia, in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, who had Hitchhiked from Canada, to the very tip of S.A., We talked about his journey, and the different country's styles. He said Bolivia was the most Dangerous, at that time... I guess it still is, GodSpeed, Kevin Irving.

I had written Kevin, to see if he could hook up with my friend Michael Johnson, in El Salvador, for some fishing & recreation on the way back.. Life, never take it for granted. Live it!

I'd rather go like Kevin, on a bike, than like my wife's grandfather, with a tube up my ass. Don't get me wrong, it's a loss, but at the end, isn't it about the life one lived?

Kevin was obviously a very patient man, considering all the troubles his bike was having. Would have loved to meet him in person. My heart goes out to his family.

RIP Ride In Peace

So very sad. Kevin's posts were so interesting to read and he seemed like such a nice guy. I feel for his loved ones. The very best to them at this time of tremendous loss.

News report posted earlier by Mike in Kevin's troubleshooting thread. Thanks for that Mike.

here is the news report from Bolivia:

A Canadian tourist killed in a road accident in southern Bolivia after colliding with the motorcycle he was driving a dump truck, police said.

Kevin John Irvin, 45, died on the spot. He traveled to the Salar de Uyuni, one of the biggest tourist destinations 420 km south of La Paz, reported on Friday Desiderio Colonel Montes, director of traffic.

The accident happened 20 kilometers from the city of Potosi in the road to the salt.

Montes said the Canadian embassy and was informed of the event. Police are investigating the causes that led to the collision.

The body of the tourist was Friday at the morgue of a hospital in Potosi.

Kevin had posted just the Tuesday before. He had found his problem was a faulty connection at the voltage regulator and also a suspect battery.

This may have been his last post, dated 3/29:
"I am Potosi, Bolivia highest city in the world! Heading for the salt flats today. I get lots of flak for riding a Buell too......it makes me more set on keepin her going"

A great sentiment. He died doing what he loved. We should all be so lucky! R.I.P. Kevin John.

I don't like to see any accidental death romanticized at all, or used to try to soften the tragedy. None of this "at least he died doing what he loved" baloney. I've twice almost died while engaging in recreational activities. My thoughts at the time both times were the EXACT opposite. What a DUMB way to die, just out basically entertaining myself, IDIOT! (talking to myself) Kevin's death is nothing but pure tragic. I just don't like to see accidental death glorified the way some seem to do. I think most are just repeating an often heard refrain. It's a really dumb refrain. I think if most of us think about it, we can agree on that.

Sorry for the rant.

Please ride SAFE!

No prob for the rant Blake, that sentiment is more directed at those who Never "risk" Anything, being afraid to Grab Life & Live it.
Irony escapes those type people, when the piano drops on Them. Shit Happens, Prepare for That.
Kevin left life Doing what He Loved.
That, is worth noting.
Sermon Over.

Please Do ride Well. Life is NEVER "Safe"
Be Aware!

Well Blake, I respectfully disagree. In 100 years, we'll all be dead anyway. One can live life trying to squeeze as much length out of it as possible: don't drink, don't smoke, don't eat meat, don't ride motorcycles...or one can enjoy the damn short ride by doing things one likes. I'd bet everyone on this board has been told they ride a 'donorcycle', they're crazy to ride, it's dangerous, etc. But we are motorcyclists, and we have chosen to take the risk of riding for the reward it brings us. I've told my wife "If I die on a bike, know I went doing something I love." Does that mean I push the limits? No. Ok, well sometimes. But seriously, we all gotta go sometime and I'd rather I went out on a motorcycle than in a hospital bed with a morphine drip in my arm. That's the way my father went, and that's the way his family will remember his last moments, and it's horrible. To each his own. Ride safe.

Hell of a thing to get your ticket punched in your prime. Didn't know Kevin personally but wish I did. Posted back and forth with him at the beginning of his Buell problems so I kind of feel like I did know him a bit. Sad time for his family for sure. Adventure riding through the stars now. RIP

My Dad too, Skifastbadly. It's not good to die as a young man, but it's not good to die like our dads went either.

RIP Kevin.
